Good morning,
It's cloudy and in the 40's today but that's ok this is spring.
Today I will be doing more cleaning there is no wash that needs to be done so the laundry room is free .
Yesterday Bill was feeling good so he put my cutting table together I helped them we rolled it into my room.
I'm almost finished I just want to get 2 magazine holders so I can put current magazines in but that's on my list for the dollar tree.
Not much else going on here.
I will go get dressed now and get ready for the day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good morning Lois. Sounds like your sewing room is getting to be just what you want it to be, I need to organize my magazines,,some are very old but out of print so I keep them. I have run out of book room so that needs to be done too but dont get me started I dont need another project,,,
We are cloudy and 46 right now...it is too early to do any yard work or windows...My windows are particularly dirty this year,,,Im not sure why,,,but I am hoping for some 60+ days to start on them...Each year I say I may hire it done but I muddle through.
Embroidery is coming along...If one of these patterns doesnt come out so well I can always swap another pattern I have many extras...still working on the satin stitch,,,all the hints and Im still crappy at it,,,but I keep trying...My friend has found her sons football jerseys, and shirts, she wants a shirt quilt...I have all of Liams jerseys,,,so we have decided to learn together,,,She is NOT a quilter but she can sew so that will be something to do this year,,,her son is 49 and she would like it for his 50th,,,Liam graduates next year and I would like it for his graduation...I guess I better get crackin....(I have 28 shirts now)
Well That is it for me...I need coffee and see if Ken is awake yet,,,He was snoring pretty good when I got up/
Hope you all have a great day XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo

Good morning,
LOIS - Yay! Your room is nearly finished! Do you have room to extend out both leaves of the cutting table? I can only keep one side up.
CHRISS - You are making progress on the chair, but I hope the chair dunker person calls you back. I've known folks who lose cats and give subsequent cats the same name. So if Gus moves on, you can always name whoever moves in next Gus, instead of Next Cat. When I was little I heard the word "taxidermy". But I pronounced it Taxi Germany. So our Next Cat was a sleek black one and I got to name him. I knew instantly his name would be Taxi Germany, Taxi for short. Another cat was Duffy and Mama Cat automatically became Duffy's Tavern. As for insomnia (and everything else!) I like the way your Gramma thought! Maybe a shot of brandy at night would do the trick for me. Though I've had brandy. I think I'll stick with Peanut Butter Whiskey if you don't mind. And I'm sorry, I've been remiss with my bobbin wishes lately. I'm relieved you made it through! I will remedy that oversight today!
MARY Q - Fourteen responses sounds like a pretty large group to me. I think I would have tried to find a meeting place first that would be available in the event you get good response. Your group will probably grow as word spreads. And Gene said it will take them about a week to travel back to North Pole. I guess this trip will be the honeymoon and they'll have the ceremony when they get there. He has several inches of fresh snow in North Pole so they are in no hurry. So you have a baby girl coming in May, another in August and a wedding quilt to do for October? Is May baby quilt done?
JUDI - nice to have a tee-shirt quilting buddy. Actually tee shirt quilts are quite easy once you get over the cringe factor of cutting into those shirts. I just rough cut out the writing/logo an inch or so larger all around, (i.e. 14" for 12-1/2" blocks), use iron-on stabilizer, and then trim the blocks to the size you want. Given the variety of shirts you have, your blocks may be different sizes/shapes which only adds interest to the quilt. But some shirts have smaller logos on sleeves or front pockets, etc. I gave those the same treatment and used them to fill in here and there to make mismatched blocks fit together. A design wall is VERY helpful, but I don't have one so I use my living room floor for that. You might not want to do that, though, given your store-bought knee.
VAL - you are off fishing today! I hope you have a lot of fun! Saying a prayer for your sis.
LYN - interesting fact about the grapes. You know, wine is made from grapes . . .
I think we're all looking forward to seeing your sewing cabin all set up! Makes me think of the old Mervyn's commercial, "Open, open, open". Happy birthday to Garry on Monday! Monday is also Amara's 2nd birthday!
JANA - you mean they had the Tabernacle Choir filling in for you?? Well, if that' s all they've got . . . .
Did you get any sewing done yesterday?
LORI - how are things going for you?
We had a late breakfast with G&T before they left on their trip. We followed them back to Terry's house and they gave us all their perishable foods and anything that can't cross the border - frozen chicken, hamburger, fruits, veggies, eggs, cheeses, potatoes, etc. So I spent my afternoon making applesauce, banana bread, and potato salad, etc. By the time I was done it was almost 4pm. So I never was able to get any yard work done. So I'm hoping today is the day for that. I did get one NYB block finished yesterday and have 7 left to do. Four of them are the oversized, interconnecting central blocks. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on this quilt, though looking ahead at the pieced border patterns, that light might be a train!
Today is clean the fridge and make a plan for the rest of our G&T bounty, prep my next block (and maybe sew a bit), and yardwork. We had hamburgers last night but since they gave us a ton of buns we may do burgers again tonite. WE still have potato salad and applesauce, and since we now have a BIG supply of broccoli, maybe a broccoli salad, too. Or maybe I'll make broccoli cheese soup for supper and we'll have potato salad for lunch and freeze the buns. We have choices!
Wishing everyone, but especially CHRISS, full bobbins all day long! And the time to empty them!

Re: Saturday April 5,2025
Good morning!
Oh so bright and beautiful outside. General Conference starts in 2 hours for the first session. Each are 2 hours and we have 5 over the next 2 days. Looking forward to hearing all of them. Such wonderful messages to learn from. It's free, on BYUTV. Sessions start at 10 am, 2 pm, my time, which is Mountain Daylight Time. Join me, I'll be in the Batt Cave, sewing, while I watch.
Got the bills paid last night. Mr G is still doing that, with me, having a watchful eye. Took him nearly 4 hours! There's not that many! He's just that slow. And many are setup already with the bank.
All the kids will be home today. They did do a short hike in Gobblin Valley. This is a place that has what I've learned are called Hoodoos. Rock formations that look like someone stacked on top of each other, large boulders, into very interesting towers and shapes. These were actually form by wind, rain and other weather conditions. The kids also visited Canyonlands and Arches. Along with rain, thunder and lightning! Oh well, it's Spring!
Didn't sew in the Batt Cave yesterday, but did let a squirrel loose for a minute. It's a older Lori Holt sew along kit I have. It only got out, so I could see what templates and rulers I needed. The necessary pieces of equipment are now ordered and will be here in a couple of days. The squirrel is shoved, neatly back in his cave! I have several other kits too, but they'll wait. Today during Conference, I'll work on OWL. I have two months traced, that will be this morning's project.
Tina - sent you rain - my kids used a bit of it first!
Off to grab breakfast, and a bit of cabinet straightening.
Hugs,
Jana

Good beautiful morning. It's going to be a great day todayl.
Yard sales. There are attending three sales and a fund raiser breakfast today. Three of us, including me, will do it all. I'll get my fill of pancake syrup and be on that sugar high while I buy something I don't need.
Yesterday I got a real good chunk of weed eating done. My bush whacker thing works but dies out after a bit. Dad said it sounds like the carburator. Next time he is here he will look at it. I have time and my trusty weed eaters until he gets to it, it's not a priority.
Also listened to my first cozy mystery book on Spotify using earbuds. A great invention. Who says you can't teach an old dog something new.
Lois, Your roomis going to be the perfect place to create. We may never see you again? I'm excited for you to have the space and love the space you have.
Judi, each year I say I am going to have someone do the weed eating. But each year I hear my dad's voice in my head saying, It's just work. As long as I can physically do the work I will. I do have the guy who bought grandma's house do the piece in between the fence and road, it's a little rocky and I don't want to trip. Windows, that might be another story. They are a lot of work dogs make nose prints on them.
Maryz, score on the food. You woin't have to go grocery shopping. Potato salad sounds wonderful, I haven't had any in a year. I now make mine with cauliflower instead of potatoes. Did you just see MQ hold her nose and roll her eyes at that? Thanks for the bobbin wish. I think of you each time I change my bobbin.
Jana, Yay for having the kids home. Nice to have your family close by. which LH pattern are you doing?
All righty, time for a good tooth brushing and some shoes. No clue about dinner. But I will have syrup for breakfast.
Have a better than great day
Chriss

I think it's called Fresh Flower Market. It's 3 years ago from her weekly sew along on her blog. That was right when Mr G's open heart surgery was or was it Covid, no matter which one, each interrupted life here big time!

Good Morning Girls
Just a fly by from me this morning, I'm showered and 1/2 dressed to get ready to go to baby girl shower! The sun is shining and that's always a good thing, but it ain't going to get very warm today! Lucky for me the shower is practically across the street from my old house--so it's an easy drive.
Do any of you worry about memory loss? I bought a roll of pretty wrapping paper for the baby shower gift and I can't remember where I put it. It's a good thing I can ask Alexa to find my phone as I'm losing it all the time. Even St. Anthony didn't come to the rescue this morning so I had to wrap the gift in a piece of pink fabric!! I remember the important stuff.... like I remember what car keys are for and that milk goes in the fridge and not in the cupboard, but I often don't remember whom I told what to!!!! I've heard Ginko baloba (sp) is supposed to help memory so I'm thinking about giving it a try. I don't want to be one of those old people that repeats themselves all the time. And I sure don't want to end up in a Memory Care Unit!!
Better go fix hair and put on my face for the public and load the car with few packages. I found some darling baby girl things at various thrift stores, and packed those separately to send home with my niece. There's two baby girl quilts (one done), one baby boy quilt (done) and one wedding quilt (started) for this year!!
Wishing you all a most wonderful Saturday

55°, cloudy and possible rain.
We had a big thunderstorm at 3 this morning, woke me up.
MaryZ, Sending up prayers for safe travels for G & T.
I had to get a few things done yesterday before I could open the trailer. Motorola Support called me and we fixed the modem. Had to get on my laptop and login to Motorola, then change a setting that splits the 5G and 2. whatever signals. The tech was the same one that helped me in Feb when I thought I needed an extender, he was very helpful both times. So now the thermostat works, it uses the 2. whatever signal. Then I had to make a bunch of calls to find out what needs to be done to register the Lund boat and trailer in Texas. That then required more calls to where we bought the boat and where it's stored in Canada. I needed photos of the boat VIN. TJ was quick and they're sitting in my email. Garry & Minnie were sitting out back when I had to go to the post office. I got back and Garry said Minnie had disappeared for a while. The wood fence was leaning after a wind storm and we think she crawled under it to check out the front yard. So I had to prop it up and add rocks at the bottom. I finally opened the trailer at 4. It took me a couple hours to get to the shelves. I had added some not sewing stuff at the back and that stuff had to be brought to the house. I got the shelves in the Cabin and locked up the trailer. Then I realized I didn't have the bag with the plastic pieces that hold the shelves onto the poles.
I was too tired to open the trailer and hunt. I will do that today.
I'm glad it's the weekend, can't make any business calls, so those squirrels will have to wait until Monday. I will find that bag and work on constructing the shelves.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Lyn

Jana, is it the "Flea Market Flower?" I did "Granny's Garden" during covid. Her patterns require a lot of cutting. I did enjoy her process though.
Lyn, I do not like having to make phone calls. Hopefully the Wifi will work right this time. At least you got a start on the trailer.
Maryq, there's normal memory loss and then there's dementia and Alzheimer's. As we age it's normal to forget things. After all, the hard drive (brain) is very full of lots and lots of information. A lot of it useless.
Chriss, hope you enjoy your pancakes. I might make some with strawberries and whipped cream. I only eat natural syrup, so it's not as bad. High sugar foods and drinks put me into a food coma and I have to take a nap. Listening to books is great, because you can do other things at the same time. I stitch and listen. I agree with your dad, if you can physically do it, do it. It keeps you moving. I've already found a pile of tools that were in the house here and there. I guess they would bring something in and forget where they put it. Then go get another one.
Judi, that will be fun to have someone else doing the same project. You'll get ideas from each other. I've never made a t-shirt quilt. My friend made one for a pilot's wife a few years back. They paid her really well. The satin stitch takes a lot of practice to get right. When I don't do it for a while, it takes me a couple practice runs to get it even.
Maryz, funny about the grapes and wine. Sounds like you made out with the food. Broccoli cheese soup sounds yummy. And about the bobbin thing, I ran out yesterday. What the heck?! Safe travels to G&T.
Lois, glad you got your table done. Some day I'll redo my sewing room, but that's a ways off.
Jack walked me already. It's a beautiful day. Supposed to get into the upper 70's. I have the doors and windows already open. I started quilting a top I layered in February. I should have it finished today. I'll get the binding on it too if I have time.
I haven't done much at dad's. I'm take a little break from that. Trying to get back into my routine after the last few years. Dinner will be something on the grill because it's so nice outside.
Have a lovely day.
