Post by grammiequilts » Sun May 12, 2024 4:31 am

Good morning..It is sunny and bright high near 70 a perfect sunday. I guess the rest of my kids will make an apperance today I saw 2 yesterday and grands and great grands. It was fun. today I will hear from DD and her group//Im sure...and maybe middle kid...He isnt much for holidays or hallmark holidys...so a phone call might be his greetings...I dont get to wrapped up in it either.. I used to send my mom a card (They lived in Florida) she never acknowledged it...just assumed we knew...I do wish my DDILs and DD a Happy one.
Today I might quilt a bit..and if my back gets tired I will sew a few hexis together as that project is still on my desk here...or I might but it away and see of i can break Maryz's record of 7 yrs...Mine is not a pattern just a color wash of hexis. And the Carrie Nation fabric is sitting here..Maybe that will get started...I dont know about supper...I have some Maryland crab cakes in the freezer and might just pull that out...and potato sald sounds good or loaded baked potatoes...and a veg...I have lots of frozen veggies and stuff for salad..It depends on what Ken says he might like..
Hope you all have a great day. prayers for Jim and all who are struggling...XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Happy Mothers Day to one and all!

Quiet day, sunny and about 70 couldn’t ask for better weather. Prayers of thanks to our mothers, still here amongst us all or sainted, they get credit too for what we’ve become. Dinner on grill later will be heavenly.
Happy Mothers Day to Al!

Good morning!

Happy Mother's Day to one and all! Moms, Grandmas, Aunts, sisters, we all pitch in with raising the next generations and all deserve a big thank you!

Mine will all be around sometime today. Matt is bringing out dinner here, Daniel was working on the deck, Aaron has his littles and Sarah will come by too. Kate is on duty, so Aaron's is taking the girls up to see her too.

Did you get to see the Northern lights? We saw them from our backyard and they were great! The lights were seen as far south as Cedar City, halfway down the state.

Daniel moved the stairs 8nto the temporary position yesterday and took off the railing. Deck is now off limits! Safety first! Now he'll take off the deck boards. We're nor reusing any, so it doesn't need to be a dainty removal.

Sewing for me will be hit and miss for the next while. I need to find a safe place to store my "pretties " - all my collectibles. I have a few pieces of Lladro and dishes, some of which are nearing 150 years old! That is a place setting of my Grandmother's wedding China. The current home for them is my large curio cabinet, but it has to be moved to put the floor down. Itself is delicate. It's a very tall corner unit, with glass and mirrors on all sides, except for a wooden spine, back corner, so it has to be handled carefully. In fact, when we moved here, we had it professionally crated so it wouldn't break. Made that move successfully! Then on to the books in the bookcases. There are three, that are almost 9 feet each. They make up a long wall unit and are stuffed with books! Mr Grumpy saves many things- including the special boxes we ordered for moving all the books we own to here. They are flat at the moment and I'll make them boxes again.

Well , church is approaching fast, need to get ready,

Do fun stuff!

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning,

Happy Mother's Day to all my quilty friends! I pray you are feeling the love today and appreciation for the wonderful job you did raising your offspring. Being a mom isn't for the faint-hearted, but it is the most rewarding of all jobs.

JUDI - It will be nice to see or hear from all your kiddos today. Yes, I have to take a break from hexies, sometimes for years. But a half-finished project can be difficult to store. Since the outside hexies still have their papers in them the project just doesn't fold well. I have mine laid out on my living room carpet right now. I am determined to finish it this time.

LYN - happy travels! I have distant relatives in Olathe. If you run into any Burghers, Darrins, or Haubers, please tell them hi for me!

TINA B - enjoy your day with your beautiful daughter!

JANA - you have a BIG job ahead of you moving all that precious stuff. When we did our downstairs we did it in two stages - our master bedroom and bath one week - moving everything out to our big family room. Then they came back the next week and we reversed the process. Plus a lot of things - those many boxes of books and their shelves - went to the garage. It's a delicate dance moving your delicate things around. That, more than anything, is what makes me dread ever having to do our floors again.

CHRISS - Happy trails to you today, too, as you travel to your son's house. It's a long trip to make in one day but I know you'll be happy you did it! You are doing a lot of room changing at your house. Moose is going to be confused. We used to have my grandfather's ancient round-topped trunk at the foot of our bed covered with a quilt. Scottie slept on top of that trunk! What a goofy dog! It was full of mementoes from my grandparents' and parents' early years. In a purge one year I passed it on to my sentimental niece and then we had to buy Scottie a real dog bed. If it's really cold or if there are fireworks, Bill lifts him up onto the bed but being a herd dog, his instinct is to have his butt to us (between our pillows) as he guards for predators. Not a pretty site to wake up to.

BECCA - You are going to be quite a crowd in that restaurant! They may have to give you their party room! Enjoy your day with your loved ones. It sounds like a beautiful day for you all!

SHARONA - too funny about the computer. You learn something new every day. I was told we could see the Northern lights from WA last two nights, but I didn't see them. I was awake for about 2 hours through the night so I probably should have thought to get up and look - but with being surrounded by trees, we really can't see the sky at all - especially to the north.

LORI - I'm glad your class was a success and you are loving learning about dying fabric. RV's are not an economical way to travel by the time you factor in the cost of the unit, the tow vehicle, the insurance, the maintainence, fuel at 10ph, and camping fees. However, we love it and we love simply camping along a river, beach, or in the mountains, not just traveling. And we can take our fur kids with us. They are at home in the trailer as much as they are in our house. But it's not everyone's cup of tea. There is a campground in Texas where we stayed with Don & Cindy about 5 yrs ago that had a long row of Airstream trailers and each campsite was set up with firepit, picnic table, and adirondack chairs. Really nice. People just rented the trailers like they would a hotel room.

VAL - it's hard to make big decisions, especially expensive big decisions. RV's are big decisions, though they are changable decisions - for a cost. We are grappling with a big decision right now ourselves - a new bed. Have you priced them lately? 🙀 We know we want a Sleep Number but good gosh, they are expensive!

MARY Q - hello! You were in my mind yesterday but I never got around to texting you. What weekend is it that you're going to WI?

KATY - how is Jim doing? Thinking of you and him and offering up prayers.

Yesterday I got my airplane quilt together, and will post a photo in a little bit. I used a multicolored stripe for the border. Today I'm going to look through my stash for appropriate backing fabric. And then clean up my sewing room. Again. I think my next project up will be Eliz Hartman's butterflies. This morning we're going to have breakfast at 0800 at the restaurant where my DGS, Alec, is a cook. He said to come early to avoid the crowds. Drew said he might "swing by", too. But Drew lives about 45 miles away so not sure that's going to happen at 0800 on a Sunday morning.

Whatever you do today - enjoy your day. If you can't be with the ones you love, love the ones you're with. And that includes our beloved pets!

Good day all,

Maryz have not looked at beds lately, a few mattresses and yes they are pricey. A sleep number is costly but have wondered if they really do what they say, maybe sleep would improve.

Chriss safe travels to you, Be sure and provide us an update on the baby happenings!

Jana so nice you can be near your kids, wish mine were closer but life has taken them away. I have heard from the daughter and know that son will get around to it. They live next door to his wife's Mother who has dementia. That takes up a lot of their time. Her siblings help but it is primarily their job,

Tinab I think we are eating out for dinner, not sure. DH was going to make reservations but he never mentioned if he did. Guess I will be surprised when he gets home from work.

Lyn are you related to Willie?

Becca have a wonderful meal with your family.

Judi I am not a big holiday person either. Mother's Day has always been a bit meloncholy since Mom passed away. But trying to enjoy this year.

DH did take me shopping yesterday and got a couple of jewelry pieces. I am not a big jewelry person but I am going to try and wear these. Two different rings, quite pretty. Or I think so anyway. Started cleaning out my sewing room yesterday before shopping. I need to go get a tote so I can organize some fabrics. They have been in a cardboard box so need to store better. Also need to start cutting a quilt for me to take to the retreat in a couple of weeks.

But for now I need to go get something to eat. For all you mom's here is a special song, many of you have probably heard it before. There are not enough songs about Moms.

Good morning everyone 🌞
Happy Mother's Day to each and everyone of you ❤️❤️❤️
Jazmyne came over yesterday and helped Frankie a little with the pond clean out. He did the majority of the work. I caught 3 fish and moved them, Jazmyne caught the other 7. I used to have 22 but the Blue Heron keeps eating them.
Not much going on here today, just waiting to hear from the kids, it's early still for them, they aren't very early risers on their days off. My Mr Squeak's is already cleaning the floors, he's almost finished. The house is pretty clean still.
Katy, prayers for Jim 🙏
You all have a wonderful day ❤️
Prayers for those in need 🙏
Tina
