Re: May 6th
Good morning,
JUDI - You are a sweetheart to make those G-tube covers. How long does it take you to make each one? Hope you get the Christmas quilt done quickly. Do you bind by machine or by hand? I should do my kitchen floor, too. But I probably won't. Not today, anyway.
JANA - sorry you got snow in May. That's just wrong. That cello story is one Ethan will remember for a long time! So glad the cello itself escaped damage!
BECCA - are you planting in a community garden where you live?
CHRISS - Good news that Moose is feeling better. But please don't call him old! Scottie will be 11 in July - older than Moose! Nice that you are getting away to your son's next weekend. Just for the day or will you spend the night? I bet they are getting excited for the baby. Have you started pulling fabrics yet for that quilt?
MARY Q - glad you are done with those patches! I bet you were so over them by the first 3 dozen!
We set our coffee the night before so all I do is push the button when I get up. Mmmm..... I love that first cup but usually don't get all the way through a second before the acid gets to me. Happy Birthday yesterday to your brother, Bill! I didn't realize you had a brother named Bill. Did I? What's next on your schedule now that those patches are done?
LOIS - with the weather we've had this week, I'd love some of that soup! Yum!! I was shocked to see how old some of my spices and herbs were. One was 14 years past exp date! I figure if I didn't use up that little can in that many years I probably don't need to replace it!
TINA - how are you feeling as you are getting those cardiac meds on board?
LYN - You have your summer all planned out. You really have little need for the CO house anymore, do you. You are right - going with all pale yellow cornerstones on my airplane baby quilt. Thanks!
Yesterday I put binding on SSC#3, made cranberry scones for Bill and Doyle who stopped by for a visit, cleaned the kitchen, and then started on my airplanes. I made a slight change - I'm using light blue cloudy sky for the background and making the planes all different solid colorswith pale yellow cornerstones. I think I need to make at least 40 blocks. I have 6 done. Then I'll evaluate if it's enough. I want to make it crib size - a little bigger than "baby", according to my chart of quilt sizes. I want to find some airplane fabric for the borders now. I've made good progress in my hexie quilt and have it just about 80% done. I need to cut some more 3.5" squares today for the background hexies. But first, we have dental cleaning appts this morning, then I need to pick up some cards and go to the post office. After that, it's home to do a few uglies and sew. I think we'll have soup for supper. LOIS has given me a hankering and Bill always loves soup. Probably white bean and sliced kielbasa. Maybe I'll toss in some veggies, too. Onion, celery, zucchini, broccoli. I'm already hungery!
I'm on my last two full bobbins. Will be time to rewind more again soon.

Good day to everyone!
I set my alarm for 4:45. They come get the MH at 6. We are not early bird people. We check out one of the many good restaurants in the area for breakfast. The tech brings the MH back to campground around 2:30.
MaryZ, I bet the baby quilt will be cute. I'm glad the planes will be flying in blue sky.
I will work on transferring the stuff that didn't from old phone to new one.
Lyn

Re: May 6th
Good morning ladies, took the weekend off from life except for a few essentials. I got Dad’s savings account transferred to his checking, left a VM for the insurance person as still no phone call, vacuumed, unloaded the dishwasher, made one more lotto block and that is about it. Other than that, sat around and watched TV.
Today I must get a TB test and schedule a CPR class for this month. I will go by Kaiser for the TB test and call the place I usually go in Vacaville to schedule the class. No patient’s today and charting Is all caught up so may do a Relias class or two, Only 3 to go. May also just see what I can do in the sewing room. I may start pulling some stuff to take to the retreat. Bathroom really needs cleaned but not sure that will happen today.
Judi my insomnia has been horrible lately. Not sure what the problem is. Have tried Melatonin and last night took some Benadryl only to be awake half the night. I have never seen or heard of a G-tube cover so looked it up. What a great idea.
Becca hope the planting goes well. Yes those big bags are quite heavy. The nursery will load them in the car for me and then DH can unload. I am not sure we are doing a garden this year though. Our soil is really clayey and so we have to enrich it. That get’s expensive and the return is usually not very good. Might even be cheaper to just buy at the store.
Oh Lois thanks for the reminder. I have a load of laundry to do. Part has still not come in so I have to keep turning the water off and on each load. UGH! But it beats the laundry mat. Haven’t found anything I want to put the $$ out for so sticking with the old one for now.
Maryz 40 blocks for a baby quilt? How big are the blocks? It sounds like it will be really cute.
Chriss glad to hear Moose is on the mend. Glad you get to go see your Son for Mother’s day. I am not sure what we will do. We usually don’t do much as the kids just don’t live close enough. Would have liked to have gone to Lina’s BD but as luck would have it, Jana shared her snow with Tahoe and it ended up being a record snow fall. But I am told she had a good time. Just FYI, no one has stopped by to do my kitchen floor either. I will ask DH to do it. My back doesn’t like it when I do it.
Maryq congratulations on finishing those patches, my what a job. Maybe you should tell them you need a bit more notice next time.
Jana glad your Cello didn’t end up getting broke. Sounds like a bit of Devine intervention!
Lyn hoping you are enjoying your travels. You are sure getting around.
We have 48 degrees right now but should climb to 66 – 70. It will be heating up this week and getting over 80 by the end of the week. I think Summer is on it’s way. I am off to find some breakfast and get this day going.
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Good morning everyone
Judi, is your vertigo better? That's so sweet of you to make those covers. What did you eat at the new Mexican restaurant?
Becca, glad you have help with those heavy bags. If you're finished with the rain you can send it here, we're in desperate need.
Lois, I'll be joining you on laundry today.
Maryz, love the ideas for the baby quilt! Blue and yellow are perfect together. I'm starting the 2nd med this morning, the first one so far pretty much good.....I have noticed I'm a little more tired and will fall asleep easier and if I turn sudden or bend over and up fast I'm a little dizzy but nothing major, just like a second or two.
Lyn, I'm not an early bird either. I've noticed that all the data doesn't transfer over like it used to also, a pain. Enjoy your breakfast!
Valerie, the insurance person still hasn't gotten back to you, that's totally unacceptable..... they sure would call if you were short a dollar with a payment huh. I hope you have a you day.
Chriss, I was raised on the white beans with ham and the fried potatoes and cornbread LOL both my Grandma's had it often but my Grandma in Virginia made the hugest meals! Dad's the oldest of 18 so you could imagine what that pot of soup was and the huge pan of fried taters and the cornbread made in those big ole cast iron pans, yum!
It was quite the feast! Mom always made it too, I loved it, we all did!
And now that you all have my mouth wanting beans and ham and cornbread (I'll pass on the potatoes maybe) that'll be supper and Dad will be in his glories!
Laundry is on the agenda. Holly and Jazmyne and Preston came over Friday and vacuumed and dusted, I'm going to have Frankie use the dust mop today and I'll use the Swiffer duster on the furniture and we should be pretty good. We also have a few errands to run this morning.
You all have a great day!
Prayers for those in need
Tina

Re: May 6th
Good Morning Girls
Rise and Shine everybody ... It's a beautiful day!!! Almost tempted to take my coffee out on the patio and soak up a little sunshine! Seems like forever ago that I've been able to do that.
Judi... I was out in the garage yesterday for a little bit and came across some flannel pieces of fabric I'd forgotten I had... thought of you and your g-tube covers but I'm thinking you have that project pretty well in hand by now. Maybe I'll google the pattern and see what I can find and perhaps put that on my list of "What can I make with THIS fabric" I'm sure somebody around here could use G-tube covers! Gosh, I just found a pattern on Pinterest!!
Becca.... My goodness you are a busy lady!! Gardening and aerobics and didn't I see you go swimming too! Good for you!!
Lois.... Do you use a lot of different spices when you cook? Seems all I use is garlic, parsley flakes, some seasoning salt and of course salt and pepper. My DIL Kris and grandson Bren both love to cook and use a lot of different things like Rosemary and Thyme. I did buy some, mostly because I have space in my spice rack, but I've never used them. But then I don't cook much !!
I think when Bren goes to college this fall one of the things he will for sure pack is his own spice rack!
Maryz... If I'm lucky and REMEMBER, I do set up my coffee the night before and it's on a timer to start at 7:45am, that way, by the time I'm awake at 8:00 it's all ready to go. However, last night I forgot! And a few times I've set it to start but forgot to put the water in--hence an empty pot! Yup I have brother Bill, he's the baby. We don't all get together much, but we're planning a "Hanson Family Fun Fest" for June 1st at my sister's house. I've never made white bean soup... never thought I was a big fan of beans--tho I like Campbells Bean and Bacon. But now that you and Lois have talked about it.. it does sound kind of good. My go-to soup is usually my chicken and cheese soup.
Lyn... Holy Moly!! 6:00am!!!! That's waaaayyy too early for this girl!!!
Valerie.... OH yes... if I do the patches again next year... for sure they better give me a earlier warning!!
Do you wake up several times in the night too? I can usually get to sleep ok, but I wake up so many times, that If I sleep 3 hours straight I'm thrilled. Do you suppose it's just an "old age" thing... but I'm sure I'm older than you. I'm going to my Dr tomorrow for my annual Medicare checkup, I'm going to see what she says!
Jana... I've heard about that software to digitize things for embroidery machine and it's kind of tempting, though I haven't checked into the cost of it. Do you remember Alina that used to be on the forum way way back? She's given up quilting and now has a big huge like 10 needle (?) embroidery machine and I think she does digitizing. I found a guy on Etsy that does it pretty reasonably. He did a photo of one of my Dad's flowers and it turned out really pretty!
Chriss.... So true the messes never end. It probably wouldn't be so bad if I didn't suffer from ADD and go from one project to the next without finishing any of them. For example: I have a set of blocks I want to lay out on my bed this morning to arrange, then sew together, the Mini Pink Lemonade is on the big table waiting to be pinned, I have a box of fabric on the coffee table that I need to go through for another cute chicken quilt --A Fatcat Design, and also a couple little piles of fabric that I need to find space for in the garage. That Darn Katie keeps bringing home more fabric!!! Glad to hear Moose is ok... How goes that re-organizing and closet cleaning at your house?
Tina... I hope you are taking it easy as the Dr. ordered!!! Nice that the kids came over to help with chores a little bit. Now you have me thinking I should google a recipe for white bean & Ham soup. Katie next door makes white bean-chicken chili that's pretty darn good!
First thing this morning I got up and threw sheets in the wash, all other laundry was done yesterday and since it was such a nice day I was able to play in the garage for a little while. Today will be a kind of putts around day, just need to finish vacuuming and then I'll be cleaning up some messes and probably making some more!
And for all that... I need more coffee!
Wishing you all and Marvy Monday!

Re: May 6th
Good morning!
Judi – how lovely to watch the sun come up together. Ugh – I need to mop my kitchen floor also. How lucky to find a good Mexican restaurant you could eat in at on Cinco de Mayo! Such a thing would not be possible out here. Stuffed cabbage sounds yummy.
Becca – how lovely that Denise and Mark are going to help with the gardening. Grilled chicken also sounds quite good.
Lois – I read several articles that talked about how buying spices at the grocery store was such a rip-off. They suggested going to the ethnic stores where you can get a pound of cumin for like $7, instead of paying $5 for half an ounce at the grocery store. Who knew?
Maryz – I love the colors of the new baby quilt! You have inspired me to make a batch of maple walnut scones. I had to laugh at your 14yo spices. I found a can that I know I bought when I was married to DH1 – some 46 years ago! LOL. I can’t even remember what it was – I’ll have to go pull it out and look. I agree – if you haven’t used it in 14 years you probably don’t need to replace it. But of course, as soon as you toss it, you’ll find a recipe needing that ingredient.
Lyn – dang that is early. Enjoy your breakfast.
Valerie – so sorry for your insomnia. I recently switched from a chewable to a gummy melatonin and it sure has made a difference. Although, like you, some nights it just doesn’t matter. Good for you for using the weekend to relax and recharge. Hope your washer part comes in soon.
Tina – how sweet the Holly, Jazmyne and Preston came over to help you. And now I’m also craving beans and cornbread. I’m glad the first med hasn’t made you feel too weird. I think we have your wind – it’s almost blowing my hair off my head it is so strong. It’s supposed to last until sometime tomorrow. It even blew down one of those huge signs over I-25 that has like four smaller signs to show directions. Crazy..
Maryq – coffee on the patio – sounds lovely. Have a good time cleaning messes and then making more.
Yesterday was church and then a not-long-enough nap. Did I tell y’all that my dad (whose poor legs have had open sores on them for over three months) was finally diagnosed with MRSA? The wound dr decided to do a culture. He’s been on antibiotics for almost a week now and there has been marked improvement. Today I need to get that darn quilt squared up (found another block I need to adjust) and then measure again for the backing fabric. Lots of other piddly things to get done. DH has his haircut today, so that means Chinese take-out for dinner. YUM! Have a glorious day! xoxo Sharona

Re: May 6th
Good morning my beautiful friends. My goodness I woke up to a chilly house this morning. it was 61 inside and 40something outside. Supposed to be 63 today.
I have an outdoor church meeting tonight. It's a dinner thing. I'm bringing dessert, sliced strawberries and whipped cream. I will wear two pair of socks and will surely bring a lap quilt.
I know yesterday was supposed to be clean the kitchen day but that has been moved to today. Yesterday was shred paper day. That task is completed for now, I'm sure I will find more. I seem to be finding more of everything. I so do not want my kids to spend their time going through my hoard of junk when I die. While it is an adventure it is also a little overwhelming.
Judi, sorry you are up early. What do you usually order at a Mexican restaurant? I'm a chili relleno gal. I will join you in the kitchen for some serious floor cleaning.
Becca, I so get it about heavy stuff. We went from stoneware to Corelle because of the weight of the dishes. I fill my gas cans half full because of the weight. And you are correct, those bags of gardening stuff get quite heavy.
Lois, we are supposed to get warmer this week too, but won't see the 70's until Thursday. I have some laundry to do today too so if you're done I'll get started.
Maryz, I think solid airplanes on cloud fabric sounds wonderful. And it will be a great sized quilt for him to grow into. I like a bigger cover me up quilt. I also think refrigerator pot luck soup sounds really good. I've been looking for some good Kielbasa and it just doesn't seem to have the flavor it used to have. What brand do you get? I haven't even started with baby quilt stuff. Or any sewing for that matter. Jerry really put a speed bump in my plans.
Lyn, how cool that they will pick up and drop off the MH. what a nice thing for them to do. hope you find a marvy breakfast place.
Valerie, that Jana just shares and shares. Sorry she picked last weekend to share snow. It's a 3 hour drive to my son's house but if there are no accidents on Pacheco Pass it's a nice drive. Anytime I don't have to go through Sac it's a nice drive. I will be doing my own floors today. first I vac up all the dog hair then get on my knees and scrub. I hate my floors.
Tina, now you see why there is drool all over the computer after I mentioned the white bean and ham meal. I don't eat it often anymore because of the carbs. And now that Jerry isn't here to fix it I probably won't eat it again. So many things are just way too big to make for one person. Even if you make say a tray of enchiladas and freeze them in meal portions you have 10 or more containers in the freezer. Then you make and freeze cabbage rolls, so there's 10 more containers. My freezer ain't that big. Your dad will be in his glory if you fix beans and ham for his dinner, especially if you have enough for his lunch tomorrow. And, PS, if I was there I'd eat a big plate of it all mixed together and probably say mmmmm with each bite.
Maryq, My closets are fine. It's my garage that needs some real attention. But then so does my kitchen and then there is that yard that needs a bit of mowing and weed eating. It's kind of non ending. And while it all doesn't have to be done right away, my goal is to have things in order by the end of the month. It's sort of a tail chaser, I can't put too much in the garage because there is no where to put it. I want to clean the garage but it's just an overwhelming junk pile. Love that darn Katie and her donations to you. I smile everytime you mention something about that darn Katie. Was it warm enouh to sit on your patio with coffee? Not here, it is 51* out there and I'm not a fan of anything on either side of 70,
Sharona, had no idea haircuts equated to Chinese take-out, I learn so much here. Hope dad's MSRA continues to improve. Ugh, another block? I'd be tempted to just leave it out and get it done. Never thought of an ethnic store for spices. I pretty much just use salt, pepper and garlic.
My meeting tonight will include dinner which I am told will be chix sandwiches.
And off I go, you all have a fantastic day.
