SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Feb 26th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Feb 26, 2024 6:00 am

Good morning,

After a windy/rainy day yesterday we should be dry and 44* today. Tomorrow the rains return but, thankfully, not the wind. I spent the day in my sewing room. Still making backings for the quilts I did in Texas. Working on the third one today. I will finish it and load the first one onto the quilting frame. I would really like for Bill to do them with his Q-bot but he is busy with his own list of things so I'll do them, I guess, using a simple meander pattern. I don't do fancy. But the little kids won't know the difference anyway. The twins are just turning 4 and their brother is a brand new 6.

My neighbor got home yesterday from her 6 weeks south so she and I will resume our daily walks this morning. We have a lot of catching up to do! And after that Scottie has a long overdue hair appt. Poor dog looks like an abandoned ragamuffin caught in a wind tunnel!

BECCA - I'm glad to hear Lincoln is settling in at home. I bet the twins are helpful, fetching diapers and such. Are you taking anything for your cold? Cold meds can affect your BP. And I'm with you - I hate going to dr appts. Any appt for that matter!

TINA - What great pictures! That is quite a head of wonderful curls on Elijah! He is really a cutie! Looks like it was a happy birthday party! And your dad is looking good! Yes, yard maintainence folks here are expensive. But our adult grandsons needed money so we asked if they would take turns and come by every couple weeks and blow leaves. We paid them well for it. Bill told them they only needed to do the driveway and cement parking areas so the place didn't look abandoned. Well, they blew all the leaves off the driveway - and into my flower beds!! We have a lot of 150' tall trees and the maple leaves are the size of dinner plates. So it was a LOT of leaves! But now that I know LYN is willing to help out things will go much better next time! ;)

LYN - So happy to have you at the table! Do daffodils bloom in Texas? We've never been there in spring. I always thought the bulbs need the cold winters to make them bloom. When our friends, Warren and Lois, had to move to assisted living, our group of friends went about once a month and ate with them in the private dining room that could be reserved. Sometimes we took food in but the facility had a menu we could order off of just like a restaurant. It was fun to get together with them almost like old times.

LORI - We just had salads with our burgers. I WANTED fries or tots, but we've been indulging ourselves a little too much the past few months. So we stuck with salads. And felt very scantimonious for it. :D

Tonite, I was thinking of homemade pizza. But I'm not sure I have enough flour to make a crust. I may have to go to the store today. We have to go out anyway to take Scottie to his appt. If we don't do pizza, then we'll do pork chops, rice, brussels sprouts, and salad.

Have you decided what's for supper yet?

Good morning all 🌞
Mary, ooooooohhhhh LOL I pictured your whole place under 6" of leaves. I pictured the boys leaf blowing too, I have quite the imagination 😂😅
We have daffodils here too but they start growing way before Spring, usually in November December but they don't bloom till late February to March and sometimes April..... I'm just happy to have them.
What projects are Bill working on?
I sewed yesterday, got bad shaky and gross feeling but I sewed is the main thing! I was doing lotto blocks 🥰
I'm going to do zucchini in the air fryer tonight and maybe pork chops on the grill.

Good Morning,
We have been eating but I haven't been posting. We had Macaroni and cheese on Friday, we ate it Vegetable Soup on Saturday, yesterday we had chicken leftover from Valentine's dinner. (We had frozen it.) Did you notice I didn't make soup? Today I get my haircut, will grocery shop and make Barley Vegetable Soup.

Maryz - It sounds like your grandsons almost made more work for you however having driveway and walkways leaf cleared probably did make house look more "lived in". Glad you got some sewing time in to make the backs.

Tina - Thanks for sharing the pictures! Elijah is a real cutie! Birthday parties are great get togethers.

Lyn - We have had daffodils blooming in our front yard now for the last few weeks. I planted them several years ago and they came up but didn't bloom for the last couple but this year they are blooming. I like looking at them.

Lori - You sound very busy! Hope you can find help for your Dad.

Dinner will be Barley Vegetable Soup. I need a few ingredients so need to go grocery shopping. Today will be busy but productive.

Carol
