SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Dec 21
Good rainy morning,
We're 60* here but rainy. Autumn bought us all tickets to go to the outdoor light display at Ladybird Wildflower Preserve here in Austin. Hopefully the rain will let up by this evening because they cancel the lights in inclement weather. Ha! If we did that in WA, there'd be no outdoor stuff in winter at all! We have Zoolights at Pt. Defiance Zoo in Tacoma and lots of parkas, mittens, and umbrellas there!
It was a quiet and smiley day babysitting yesterday. We are so going to miss her when we leave! We're off today but back, crib-side tomorrow. I will get my Fab Farm animals all corralled today. Only two more sheep left to do. Then it's time to start packing up the sewing. And take stock of what few fabrics I have with me and keep them handy in case they will work for Valerie's January Lotto. (I hope to be able to do those while in FL. ) I have my large embroidery project and a big supply of books to keep me busy but with our babysitting job this year, we don't have a lot of extra time so I'm not worried about being bored!
BECCA - how far away is Alex from you? Will Christmas be an overnight visit for you?
TINA - sorry your toe is bad again. Do you use ice on it? It really helps. 20 min on, and then 20 min off while you quilt. Repeat. So did you make any progress on #4 yesterday?
I don't have a plan for supper tonite. Maybe grilled cheese sandwiches before we go to the light display. Autumn said they'd be here at 4:30 and next day Antonio told us 4:00. And then it might get cancelled because of rain. So, I think we'll have sandwiches at 3:30 and wait and see what happens.
How's your supper plan coming along?

Good Morning,
Maryz - You certainly are enjoying your little Amara and getting quilt blocks done too! Wow, amazing work for you! Enjoy the light show this evening.
Tina - You are down to the wire now. Hope all goes well and you get it finished.
Yesterday I made very small stockings to put money in for my one-year-old grand-nephew. I want to contribute to his college fund and thought it would be fun to make a stocking. The stocking would make a tree ornament, so I put on a loop. I also finished ironing shirts and then a tablecloth. The table is now ready for Christmas Eve dinner. I still need to make pie crusts and cranberries so I will do that today. Also need to go to ATM and library. It has been raining here off and on since yesterday morning. It rained all night I think.
Did I tell you when I opened the bread flour container to make dinner rolls it was full of bugs? Thank goodness for Tupperware! The bugs were only in the one container which we threw out the contents and washed thoroughly. I think even DH was creeped out with the bugs. Usually, I freeze the flour before I put it in the containers, but somehow, I must not have done it. Lesson learned!
Dinner tonight? I think I should make Barley and Vegetable Soup. I may need a few ingredients, but I will be going to grocery store anyway.
Carol

Good morning all
A quick pass through this morning. #3 is done and #4 is loaded for the second time, ugh I had problems and had to turn the backing a half turn so it wouldn't have wrinkles in it.
I'm fixing to go quilt it now.
Mary, I hope you don't get trained out and it's a fun evening. Enjoy all the Amara time you can soak up.
Carol, I freeze my flour too, I was told when I was a teenager to freeze it at least 48 hours that I'd never get buds in it that way and so far it's worked. But a few months ago I didn't get one in the freezer thinking I'd use it fast and sure enough bugs in it too.
I'm making chicken tortellini soup for supper. I have Jazmyne, Easton and Preston here today because it's the last day of school and they didn't want to go so they're here and Frankie is watching them while I'm closed in my sewing room except for breaks.

Becca - I am making pie crusts to put in the freezer. I will bake on Sunday or Monday so they will be fresh. I agree with you fresh pies and fresh cookies are much better. I have lots of cookies to bake so will probably do it on Saturday and give plates away and freeze some too.

Mary, the days will start getting longer now. Before you know it, it will be Summer. You are going to miss little miss boots when you leave.
Becca, I wait to do my baking last too. I usually bake, then take them to the neighbors the same day. I like my cookies fresh.
Tina, chicken tortellini soup sounds good.
Carol, I freeze my pasta flour. Regular flour I use pretty regularly. I did have to throw out a bag last month. It was for Trader Joes. Most everything in my cabinet is in containers to avoid bugs.
I've been cleaning this morning. Will do some stitching this afternoon and maybe some knitting.
Dinner potatoes with chili.
Have a lovely day.
