SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Oct 8th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Oct 08, 2023 7:43 am

Good morning!

Yesterday was our little Kumquat's first half-birthday! She's now 6 months old and developing quite a little personality. They send pictures every single day and it looks like their house is one big playpen with quilts everywhere! Good thing Nonnie is a productive quilt-maker! With 2 or 3 more coming this Christmas!

I got the unicorn quilt and backing together yesterday. It's Bill's project now. This week will be rainy so he'll have lots of time to do it. I also cut out my Narwhal block. Just one block for a 24" cushion (I'll buy the pillow form when we get to Austin). And this is the last of my Christmas sewing, except for a couple of bindings.

We're having two couples for supper tonite so today will be grocery shopping, vacuuming (Bill's job), cleaning bathroom, and cooking. Going to bake a pumpkin pie to kick off the fall season.

CAROL - happy birthday and happy baptism to your great nephew! You'll be able to be there, I take it? My family is so spread out that we're never together any more for special events. I agree about reading the Christmas story to even the littlest of the littles. Glad your hair dresser did such a good job. Is she new or just did a better job that usual? I'm starting to worry about mine. She is 70, morbidly obese, and in very poor health, and a smoker. Was hobbling on a sprained ankle my last visit, hanging on to furniture and walls to get around. And even though she only had to trim up my hair - maybe 1/2" off - it didn't come out quite right. I hate to leave her because she really needs my business.

BECCA - I had a doctor who once told me fractures tend to run in families, but so far researchers don't know if it's because some families have weak bones or if they are just more active than other families and thus more prone to accidents. It's kind of a chicken/egg conundrum. But sounds like despite the fractures, those littles in your family are having a fun childhood and making memories! I like your supper choice yesterday. I love breakfast for supper.

Tonite we're going to grill teriyaki chicken. It was going to be burgers tonite with Tex & Annette joining us. And the chicken supposed to be for us last night, but Gus & Claudia invited us to join them last night at the Mexican restaurant for margaritas and "lupper". So we punted the chicken to tonite and invited G&C to join us tonite along with Tex & Annette. So now it's 4 guests for tonite. I'm also going to make a tetrazzini, salad, rolls, and the pumpkin pie. I'm going to confess, the rolls will be Rhodes frozen. They are as good (actually better!) as any I make but the pie will be homemade 🥧.

What's happening in your kitchen tonite?

Good morning,

After breakfast and Mass this morning I am eating a snack. We had a wonderful day yesterday. We stopped by my sister's, to give her a ride to event yesterday and drove her home. She had surgery on her elbow last Monday and is not able to drive. The Nativity figures were a hit. Everyone was quite impressed that I made them. As I said I placed only a limited number of the main characters in the playmat-book. When my niece opened it and saw all the characters she really was impressed. She said he really loves books and he received several.

Maryz - My brother found a very cute little rocking horse which he gave to his grandson yesterday. That little boy was all smiles once he figured it out! Yes, my hair stylist is new to me. She is a bit older and has her own shop and works five days a week. My last stylist went on a three-week vacation. She only works three days a week, so it was really difficult to get an appointment with her and right now she is on vacation. I knew I could do better. I already have my next appointment for the day before Thanksgiving.

Becca - Today you have main meal at lunchtime. I hope you enjoy it!

Dinner tonight I need to go get some chicken from the freezer for my DH. I think I will have vegetable soup.

Hi all! 🙂
Mary, your rainy days sound very productive. Yummy pumpkin pie 🥧 😋 😍
I make the Rhodes rolls too, they're delicious.
Carol, sounds like your nativity set was prefect ❤️
Becca, breakfast for supper is a favorite of mine too.

I've had some not good happenings going on here. We went to Albuquerque to meet Maryrose to pick up my quilt she quilted for me and when we went to leave our suburban wouldn't start, we finally made it 15 miles and then it was dead dead. We called roadside assistance and they towed us 10 miles to the next town and I had them drop us off at the Home Depot parking lot. Kevin borrowed his brother in law's trailer to haul our suburban home but a wind advisory came up so we only made it about 15 to 20 miles and had to leave it. We got home after 2am and I could barely walk, the next day pretty much the same. Today Frankie and Kevin went to get it. I'm praying they make it back safe.
Easton is keeping me company today, he stayed last night and is staying tonight since it's an in-service day tomorrow and I'll have Preston and Jazmyne too. I'm still not back to my normal yet but I did vacuum with help from Easton and he dusted. I've been trying to keep my mind busy so I've been going through some paperwork I needed to do and purged a bunch that wasn't needed. I have to move around as much as possible to get me going again. I have a chiropractor appointment in the morning.
I've got hamburger thawing for supper, it will either be with spaghetti or tomato basil penne pasta and garlic bread and salad.
