SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Aug 26th
Good morning,
And a good morning it is! I finished my yard work yesterday! Hooray! It's good now until Oct when I'll do the final fall clean-up before we go south. The house is still in pretty good shape and I did the laundry. My machine came home from his spa week, and I even had time to do some fabric cutting. Life is so good right now! Our dog has been having some - uh - digestive issues. He had to have another bath and a haircut. Later, we figured out the problem - Bill bought dog food 10 days ago and he accidentally got the little kibble for little dogs. This looks like cat food and we got it mixed up and Scottie has been eating catfood for the last 10 days! Poor Scottie! Poor US!! Poor Foxy who's food got wrongly eaten! So we went and bought the correct size kibble so we don't make that mistake again, and when he gets stablized again, we'll slowly mix the two foods. (both foods were in large plastic containers and guess we grabbed the wrong one).
Anyway - enough of Scottie's woes. The Seahawks are playing this morning. I'm glad for a morning game so we can sit outside on the deck and watch it on the big screen TV before it gets too hot. It's to be 89* this afternoon. I will also be getting out some fall fabrics today to make some lotto blocks and if there's time, cut a few more Book Nook blocks. We checked my barn block yesterday and it's not ready yet for it's polyurethene finishing coat.
BECCA - I'm glad you have at leat one pair of pants even if you had to hem them. I'm thinking you aren't much taller than I am (4'11"), so you probably have to hem almost everything. It's so nice to have so much family close to you. Lots of fun things to do! Sending an anniversary ((hug)) to you. Your first without your sweetie, but oh - what a rare blessing to have been able to spend 66 years together! It's definitely something to celebrate. And it's so nice that your DD remembered and called you.
TINA - I would be dead after roasting, packing 25# of chilies! Remember how I whined after doing just 3#? lol! No wonder you are achy! And yes, the yard is looking good now. Six days of work, but only about 4 hours a day.
CAROL - nope - I can't work on Amara's stocking in the truck. The frame is too big to manage along with my pattern and tray of floss bobbins. Not to mention the jouncing. It's not like riding in a car. Plus, we ride with a very long haired black dog who sheds a LOT. I've done stockings like this for everyone in our family over the last 40 years. They are all very intense patterns and usually take me about 18 months. They are meant to be heirlooms. I'm going to make the effort to get it finished, but my aging eyes can only work so long each stitching session before they start crossing, which you would think would be a bonus since I'm cross-stitching, but it's not. And what?? Your DH - a life-long west coaster - is rooting for Kansas City over Seattle?? Shame on him!
For supper tonite we are going to take the leftover pizza sauce and toppings and split the leftover baguette in half lengthwise and make long skinny baguette pizzas. Plus a salad.
What will be your supper plan?

Good morning all
This weekend is our duck race weekend. Yep they race ducks LOL. I think it started in the 70's as an economy booster and it's a big deal, people used to come from all over even Hawaii to race ducks. They used to train their own ducks but it got where people were abusing them and then just dumping their ducks all over after the races so they now have to just "rent" a duck to race which has caused there to be less people but it's still pretty crowded in town with all the goings on. They have outhouse races where a team builds their own outhouse on wheels I think and one has to be setting on the pot while the team pulls it the length of the course LOL it's fun to watch. They have tortilla tosses and whoever throws the farthest wins. They have a duck pageant and have duck royalty where a queen is crowned and the runners up are her court. There's tons of venders and food and all kinds of stuff. We'll go for a couple hours if it's not too hot. The parade starts in about 1½ hours. The hot air balloons didn't go up this morning because we had a crazy lightening storm going on about 5. They do all kinds of things with the hot air balloons, morning glow, evening glow, mass ascension, rides...etc. my little brother and his band will be playing in the park Sunday evening so I want to go then for sure.
Mary, I'm glad you're all done with your yard. When I do deep cleaning and such on ours it takes me 4 hours in the back yard and about 1 in the front, I'm glad I don't have as long as you.
Sorry about Scotty, I think you need to label those containers.
I'm so looking forward to seeing your barn block. Here things dry in hours since we are so hot and dry with no humidity.
I'm not sure exactly what and when I'll be doing things today and tomorrow, the kids may come over. It's Dad's night for supper and I have a new pasta recipe I've been wanting to try so that might be supper with a salad.

Tina, I did not know you could race a duck. Very interesting. Sounds like a fun day.
Mary, glad you got all your yard work done. It seems never ending here. Always something to do. Your weather is the same as ours today. Hope the heat doesn't last too long.
I was busy yesterday. I did windows and screens. Vacuum and dust and a few other chores. I also worked on a Halloween quilt that will be in in a silent auction next year at our quilt show. It's very cute. I'm finishing up that this morning, then I find something else to do. I might get the backing for the Twist quilt.
Dinner will be grilled chicken and potatoes.
Have a lovely day.

Finished up the top. Someone else will quilt it. Then it will go in the silent auction at the quilt show. If anyone wants the pattern let me know.
