SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Aug 15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Aug 15, 2023 6:57 am

Good morning,

A beautiful morning but will be a scorcher of an afternoon. My plan this morning is as soon as I finish this post I'm going out for more berries. Sigh. I'm sick of berries. But our friends would like some and they are both rather decrepit and their berry patch is almost inaccessible but they try. Last year she fell into the berries and couldn't get out. He was napping upstairs and I think she had her phone so called him to come rescue her. She was a mess after that for a few days. They watch our house for us while we are gone in the winter, so I can pick a few berries for them. Ours are easy access. It will be a surprise.

This afternoon, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I've been wrapping Christmas presents - our Christmas has to be all ready by October. I'm almost there. I also want to pull fabrics for Cat Scratch, a cousin to my Catholes quilt. This one will be for me. I'm not sure what other trouble I can find to get into but I'm sure something will pop up.

IRISH - HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVE! Since I'm prone to forgetting things like this on the actual days, I'm getting ahead of the birthday wishes game. I hope someone has something fun planned for you! Sounds like maybe a birthday dinner with your camp pals? I would love a rainy day here. You are lucky! We we did see the video on our news of that explosion. Thought of you immediately and wondered how close to you it was! Do they know yet what caused it? So sad. How fun for Kathy to perform wedding ceremonies! At first, when I read that she married Tim's grandson, my immediate thought was, "Say what??!" Then I read the rest of the sentence.

BECCA - hope your dental appt today goes well. Is this the drilling appt or the crown seating appt? Either way - ugh! As for thrift shopping, not all days are diamonds. Some are stones. But hope springs eternal. I found a beautiful Seattle Seahawks jacket for Lara last week for $19. New condition. And new would be around $100. That was a diamond for sure!

LORI - your quilt is stunning!! I love the colors you chose, too! It's a happy quilt!

JANA - We've made many calendars as gifts over the years. And I have been thinking of making one of those books for the kids of Amara's first year. But that's a ways off yet. Many years ago when we made a trip to NY and PA we learned that what Easterners call a "camp" is what Westerners call a mountain cabin or a beach house. So I was on to Irish when she talked about their 'camp'. When does the landscaping start?

Bill pointed out to me yesterday (after I told him what I said) that I told you at the beginning of my post that we were going out to supper. And at the end of my post what we might be cooking here. Duh! Anyone else catch that? But he's decided tonite he'd like burgers. So burgers it shall be. And salad.

What's are you having?

Good morning all 🌞
Mary, your thrift shopping sounds really fun, we used to have a good will a long time ago, I loved going in there as a kid, they had good stuff back then!
I guess I didn't make it here yesterday. I had plans to bath both my furkids early but Frankie's nephew came over to see if he had the seal Franke needs for his tractor but sadly he didn't. They visited awhile so I sewed then after lunch I got the dogs all clean, they smell good and are all shiny and brushed nice. That did me in for the rest of the day.
Tonight is pizza night but we have enough lasagna left and salad that needs to be eaten so we're not going to pizza night this time.

Good afternoon from a sunny, warm, perfect day in SW. Pa.....We did have more rain, the pond in the field across the street was filling up and I thought I might have waterfront property but, I'm far enough away, don't have to worry...But, so much fun to see the ducks come and enjoy....This morning, my sister and I each saw the allergist and did get good news...Other than dust, work etc. I have no allergies and of course have no idea why I'm itchy...JoAnn does have food and medicine allergies...I've always said, Mom used all the perfect parts when she had me and JoAnn got all the leftovers and her body is really messed up...Then we stopped at a new Thrift, consignment store, wasn't open so we went on to a farmer's market and came away with lots of goodies and then went back to the store and I got a few books for the little ones and an Irish angel, with Christmas in mind but I might just keep it....I will be making another trip back, saw a few other things I MIGHT need.....

Mary, thank you for the B'day greetings...I was sure I told everyone, I wasn't having any more, lol.....I just had a text from Dan wanting to know what night I had free...Could be a pizza night coming up.....I did catch your "double" dinner yesterday but I thought, maybe from the time you started writing, plans had changed.....You mentioned the cloth books...I know, these are different but Amara might like those panels you get to make a cloth book....I made tons of them and then the kids even passed them around...Do they still have panels like that?
That is funny about Kathy marrying Tim's grandson, lol....I wish she would have been able to marry Nick and Trisha...Hopefully, one of these days, her son and his girl will be setting a date and it would be great if she could do the wedding..Of course, she gets very emotional and maybe it wouldn't be a good idea, lol.....Which reminds me of the episode on Big Bang when Amy and Sheldon got married....
That explosion is about 20 miles from me and was absolutely terrible...The whole neighborhood has been affected and many homes will have to be torn down.....

I probably told you about BabyGirl going to the groomer and how badly we both felt about the "trim", well, they called and will do a free grooming the next time we go (if I go back)...I think Baby is still in shock, lol...With her short hair, you can see all her belly parts hanging down and I'm thinking she needs to start wearing some sort of support thingie, lol....But, I'm also thinking, we now match!

Just had a visitor...The office sent 2 young guys to take care of the hornet's nest in my shed....It was on the inside of the door and was growing....Thank goodness they knew how to handle it.....Now, I can get in there and sort through some more yarn...I just found a special gal and her husband who crochets blankets etc. for babies and I told her she can have as much as she wants....I'm sure the boys will be pleased to hear their Mom's yarn is being used for such a good deed....

Next I'm having a young fellow come and clean the gutters and finish the power washing...I could do the washing but I figure, he's a high school student and I'm sure he can use the money...Another B'day present to myself.....
And speaking of that, he just pulled in.....WooHoo......

For my dinner, I'm thinking of that burger that I didn't have last night and an ear of corn that I just brought home....Sounds like a plan to me....
Hope you all are doing well
Have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating...................

Becca, your supper sounds delicious!
Irish, that's so sweet of how your yarn will be used ❤❤

I finished my Christmas swap blocks today so now I'll be sewing for mine!
I'm so looking forward to the birthday party Saturday, I don't get to see them as often.

We've dropped to low 90's and I hope it doesn't go back up.
