SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Aug 7th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Aug 07, 2023 6:13 am

Good morning,

Today is Kumquat's 4-month birthday! Yay! They sent a little video of her yesterday. Looks like she is in training for the 3-foot crawl! lol! We leave in 2 months, 3 weeks to go see her! oh - and her parents, too. :D :D

Yesterday we both finished our quilting - me, my wall hanging and Bill, Catholes. Today I will make a Catholes label and then bind both projects while he loads the last top in the QQ. I don't know yet which one of us is going to quilt it (it's a lotto win from last year). By the time we finish these last few projects it will be time to pick blackberries again, and vacuum, mop, dust, etc. I work on Amara's cross-stitch stocking in slack times and through the evenings. I'm about 1/3 done. This pattern is really testing all my rusty skills.

TINA - Did you find your missing patterns? I've got a lot of patterns in binders, too. About ten binders, last count. All sorted and organized by topics. Most I culled from magazines when my mag collection got too unwieldly. I also have a box, bigger than a photo box, that is full of smaller patterns that come in 5x7 ziplocks. And of course, all my books. Too many!! But I tried to go through and eliminate some a few months back and I got rid of 2. Just 2 patterns and no books. I'm hopeless.

BECCA - With that white squirrel running all over the place, you are bound to be having some excellent luck! How is the baby quilt coming along? Are you hand quilting it?

CAROL - I guess the main thing is the pool is gone and the kids are safe - at least from that. No, I didn't see the author of the Med Cookbook I saw at Costco. Next time we go to Costco, I'll try to remember to take a picture of the cover and send it to you.

LORI - We love line dancing, though haven't gone out for any kind of dancing for years. I had a big fat binder of all our choreographies but loaned it to a friend who, a few years later, had no recollection of ever borrowing it and now she's dead. So they are all lost now. But we used to do the Electric Slide, Stray Cat Strut, Cimmaron Stroll, Slap Leather, Tush Push, Achy Breaky Heart, and many more. We taught some of them. We also did a lot of couple dances - Two step, ten step, 16-step (Rebel Strut, I think), country waltz, country cha cha, Schottische, polka, etc. We were in a dance club called the Guns & Garters, and did performances around the area. Our dance teacher was our friend, Tex , who actually is from Amarillo! Have fun with your dancing! It's great exercise! I didn't have a weight problem until our club and dance team disbanded.

Tina can tell you much more about chilies. But I use them to make chile rellenos, chili casseroles, or dice up into chicken enchiladas, chili, meatloaf, and some soups and stews. They have varying degrees of heat. I like medium.

Tonite's supper, I think, is going to be white chili using up the extra chicken we grilled last night and some of those chilies!

What sounds tempting to you?

Good morning all 🌞
Mary, you're out of things to quilt? I could send you some 🤣😂
I didn't find my missing patterns, they're actually blocks, it's the Sonoran BOM from Suzy's Sitcom, she just sent the last blocks for it so I was getting them all together. I prefer to have all my blocks patterns before I start. I have them downloaded but I know I printed them and I really don't want to print them again..... yoooouuuuuu know what will happen if I do...... I'll find the first set 🤣😂🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Becca, I looked up white squirrels yesterday, they're cute ❤
Lori, Jazmyne teaches her friends how to line dance, she watches YouTube videos until she's learned it and then teaches them.

I didn't have a weight problem either when we were going to dances every weekend.

We use chillies in all kinds of dishes, breakfast, lunch and supper and here at this house we use waaaaay less than most LOL
It's anywhere from no heat to inferno heat, I like medium, Frankie likes a little hotter but where it doesn't burn your tastebuds hot... he gets what I make LOL my little brother eats extremely hot, I don't think he has tastebuds left. He probably eats more than us too, I think he eats chile every day.
I had to take a break from my sewing and now that's over so I better get back.
I've got a NY strip steak out thawing for supper, will also split a baked potato and we'll have salad.
Tina

Good early afternoon from slightly overcast, but warm, SW Pa.....Other that being crazy busy, I have no excuse for being MIA...I just cancelled BabyGirl's vet appointment so I could stay home and try to catch up today....I had taken her to the beauty shop on Friday and she's not forgiven me yet...But, I can't blame her, I am so upset with how they "trimmed" her I even cried...I had told them, just a trim, no lion cut and no shaving...Well, all her long grey fur is gone and all that is left is the almost white cotton feeling stuff and a puff on her tail....She was already in her carrier when I picked her up and didn't notice till I got her home...I called and told them how disappointed I was and they promised to get back to me as to what they'll do???? Well, don't think they can replace the fur but will probably give me a free grooming for the next time, (that's not going to happen)....Friday night went to see nephew and his band and had a ball, Sat. was gone all day getting my sister porch furniture and then yesterday we took another ride to camp to install a new camera but couldn't get it working, grrr But, we did stop for ice cream on the way home, lol.....AND the big news, we had what might have been a mini tornado go through this morning about 8:00 and what a mess, trees down everywhere, skirting blown off, flowers and containers strewn everywhere...2 big trees across the street from me were uprooted and now they have a cherry picker working on another very tall one (which thank goodness didn't come my way)...Several sheds were flattened by trees and fences are gone....My grille on the back deck was turned upside down...It just happened so fast, we literally didn't know what hit....But, no one was hurt so we're OK.......Kevin had been out and had a hard time getting back home because of trees blocking the roads...This has been one very crazy summer....

Mary, I can imagine how excited you must be to be able to at least see your baby....Good idea to have her see you and get to know her Gram.....On the 10th our Emma will be 4 and Lena will be 5 in October, so hard to believe.....

Becca, I was just watching my 2 little grey squirrels chasing each other up and down the tree and thinking about you....They are so darn cute and funny.....Hoping you keep seeing yours and hoping for lots of that good luck....

Carol, so glad the pool is down...What were those people thinking....Was sure a disaster in the making...When we had our pool installed, the 1st thing they told us was to put up a fence along with a locked gate....Hope the neighbor isn't upset with you, she should be grateful......

Tina, Hopefully, the next time I get to Kathy's, I'm going to make sure she gets the "right" kind of chilies...I have never had Mexican food, because I thought it might be too hot...I have a lot to learn...

Lori, Our club has line dancing every Wednesday and how I'd love to go but they might be carrying me out, lol....Jim and I slow danced a lot and he loved to polka....My only "fancy" dancing was the electric slide, loved it....The other night when my nephew played they played a good twist song and of course I had to see if I could and I did and the next morning, my back reminded me, there are some things better to just watch....But, it sure was fun, at the time......

Well, I need to get things done around here instead of watching the young workers outside....Always remember our old quilter friend, Joanne in Ohio, sitting on her porch waiting for the UPS man to show up in his shorts....Not a bad habit, right????

Not sure what my dinner might be but I mistakenly opened a small can of cut up chicken, thinking it was a can of tuna that I had promised the cat...She doesn't eat chicken so best I make chicken salad or maybe a pot pie.....I really need to pick up groceries, maybe one of these days....

You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating........................

Mary, I had no idea there were so many dances when I started this. I thought maybe 6 or so.
It's crazy. I know it burns the calories for sure. I bet you had a nice visit with the little one. Happy 4 months old to her.

Irish, they might have to carry me out if I dance too much too. It's been a long time since I danced.

Tina, that's a really cute quilt. I love the wolf howling. That's awesome that Jazmyne can do that. Maybe if I was way younger it would be easier. lol

Well dad's shopping is done, and Jack took me for a walk. I'm almost done with my prep for the class. I might quilt my little minis today. We'll see.

Dinner will be leftovers.

Have a lovely day.
