SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, August 1st

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Aug 01, 2023 6:39 am

August! How did this happen? Weren't we all just counting the days until spring??? Definitely early signs of fall here. Plus, I'm already planning sewing projects to take to TX for the winter - the biggest sign of all!

Yesterday turned into a busy, busy day! I finished my Catholes quilt and got backing pieced and binding made. Bill is going to look for a cat quilting pattern to download and he will quilt it for me. As long as it's done and ready to go with us in Nov. It's for my sister's birthday. Then I went out to check the blackberries and found lots were ripe so I went back for my berry buckets. By the end of business yesterday I had two batches of jam on my counter and was on my hands and knees mopping sticky spills off my kitchen floor. Today - I'm getting my 3 charity tops ready for the LA.

BECCA - glad you got your business taken care of. I hate having things like that hanging over my head. I don't sew really fast, but I just spend a lot of my time sewing. I don't have much family around to do things with, so I spend my time in my sewing room. Even when we're in TX with Aut, we only see the once a week for a couple hours, so I sew there, too. I hope you can get your BP under control.

TINA - that had to have been scary!! Were you starting to load up your car with all your quilts and fabric?? So happy the winds turned and they got the fire under control! Whew!

CAROL - I love your Halloween quilt! I was going to ask you yesterday what pattern you were doing but got distracted and forgot. I think.

LORI - With some patterns, it takes a while for the fun to kick in.

IRISH - I'm so glad Nick, Tricia, and Coco will all be together soon. I'm not sure why Tricia needs papers from Poland (isn't she English?) and why Coco has to fly alone, but glad all the traveling will all be over soon. Do they have a place to live in FL already? Maybe I see a holiday trip to FL coming up in your future??

Our lemon pesto last night was terrific! I was so tired last night, though I had supper completely prepped before I collapsed so I turned the kitchen over to Bill. He cooked the pasta and added the sauce and the diced chicken and a generous sprinkling of parmesan. Maybe I was tired and hungry but it was REALLY good - and we have enough left for tonite! I might add some peas to it to stretch it out a bit more and make a salad, but mostly it will all be a heat'n'eat supper for tonite.

What about you?

Great pictures Tina. Thanks for sharing your party with us. Looks like fun.

Mary, looking forward to seeing the cathole quilt.

Becca, swimming tires me out. I usually need a nap afterwards.

Jack and Wrigley took me for a walk. Bill is golfing this morning. It's cloudy and humid here. Normal for August. I need to vacuum and do a few other chores this morning. I'm caught up with all my swaps and lotto blocks. Now to sew and prep the class project. Hope it gets more fun, otherwise it will be in the give away pile. I had most of the fabrics on hand, so I won't feel too bad if it does.

We'll be doing a late lunch today. Maybe Mexican.

Have a lovely day.

Good Evening,

Tina - Thanks for sharing the pictures. Jazmyne is quite the young lady.

Lori - Hope the rest of the prep for the class goes smoothly and gets more fun.

Becca - Hope your dinner was delicious.

Maryz - How many pints of Blackberry jam did you make? You must have quite a lot of jam by now. You made strawberry too. Did you make any others? Apricot?

Dinner tonight was a Bean, Barley and Vegetable Soup from the freezer and a green salad. I had a Board meeting this evening. Meeting lasted only one hour.

I had a dermatology appointment. She froze only one small spot on my right jaw that was pre-cancerous. I went to farmer's market today. I bought grapes that are called "lollipop". They are wonderfully tasty!

Has anyone read the book: The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lachs"? Her family finally won compensation today for the contribution she made to science. She died in 1951 of Cervical Cancer. Science has been using her DNA all this time for all sorts of things. It is an outstanding book and I highly recommend it.

Carol
