I started this a couple hours ago but had to leave it to meet my walking neighbor. Today was our long walk - 2 miles - then shower and breakfast. I guess I should have saved my work because it's all gone now. So starting over.
Yesterday was Scottie's 10th birthday. Seems he was just a 7 wk puppy but here we are - 10 yrs later. Sometimes he still acts like a puppy. He got a Frosty Paw, extra cookies, and lots of pets, hugs, and kisses. In other words - just like very other day of his life only served up with a song!
Our lunch yesterday was tasty, but even the chef's skill couldn't hide the economizing they were doing on ingredients. But perhaps that's just as well. I had a BLT salad and Bill had spaghetti. I was so relieved that he went along with us as there was no way I could have managed my two elderly ladies (one forgot her cane!) and got them through the HEAVY doors and into the restaurant AND dealt with the car. As it was, it took Bill 20 min to find a parking place. And he has good parking karma! I doubt very much we'll be going back to that restaurant.
When we got home I did some cutting for Catholes and will continue with that today. I think we'll also load up the HSH swap quilt. We've kind of been embracing the lazy dazy days of summer around here so just because we say we'll do something, doesn't mean we will.
You asked what Halloween projects I kitted up. A quilt called BeWitched by Margot Languedoc and it's all witch's hats. My other pattern(s) is called Making Mischief by Atkinson Designs - a table runner and a wall hanging, both funny cats, of course. I am kitting them up for now instead of outright sewing them because I may run out of sewing time before we leave for Texas and I need projects for when we're down there anyway. We leave first week of Nov - a little over 3 months. I have a few other things I will kit up soon. Then, if I have enough sewing time before we take off for TX, I'll dig into my kits.
TINA - 3:30 is early for me, but not too bad. I go to bed about 9pm so that gave me 6-1/2 hrs. I usually get up about 5. I hope Frankie is doing better today. Drinking water, especially with your temps, helps a lot! The baking with Jaz will be fun and everything will be special, I know. But the prices of ingredients these days is staggering.
BECCA - I hope the painting class is better than you are expecting, but you can always just go, do your own thing, enjoy the friendship offered, and maybe even teach a technique or two yourself. And what was for supper at Alex's? It's always fun to hear. I think your dryers need to be replaced! I hope they listen to your complaints.
IRISH - that's such a romantic story! How old were you when you finally got married? Did you follow "our" eagles this year? Only two babies so not as much drama in the nest. We have now moved on to owls. We have, we think, 3 juvies that live in our woods and they are great entertainment. But one day when a bigger owl (mama?) called, off they flew to her and then everyone flew away for the rest of the day.
JANA - glad Michael's reports are coming back A+. Are Kari's parents staying with you or are you just cleaning because they will make a visit? I'm sure they are anxious to see their DD's new home. Do they anticipate ever moving to UT? I don't consider Smokey spoiled. She is just getting her due. Foxy (and all our cats before him) get a spoonful of canned food every morning and every evening. The rest of the time he free feeds from his dish of dry crunchies in the sewing room.
LORI - Your niece will love her butterfly quilt. I expect my niece will receive her gift today. Crossing fingers. I'm her favorite of her 5 aunts I know, even without the gift!

I'm once again thinking chili rellenos for supper. Tina mentioned them the other day and they sounded so good, and I have her recipe! And I think all the ingredients I need. Even the last of the chilies she gave me! I love rice and beans with them but it's just too much food so maybe a salad on the side.
What sounds delicious to you? And now what are you having?
