SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, July 22nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Jul 22, 2023 7:10 am

Good morning,

Yesterday morning was sewing room time and in the afternoon more friends (Gus & Claudia)stopped by for a visit for Bill's (July 20) and Claudia's (July 21) birthdays. Then we were off to Doyle & Susie's with our frozen lasagna. The guys were in charge of putting the lasagna into the oven and Bill set his phone timer. Then Susie switched the oven from regular bake to convection. But no one adjusted the timer! Needless to say the lasagna was not underdone! And the chocolate torte turned hard so I whacked it up into bite sized pieces like fudge. Everything was delicious despite all the cooks! Today we have no plans so I hope to finish my table topper. And I think I'll polish my countertops, mop the kitchen floor, dust, and clean the main bathroom. And if I can find where my hairdresser moved to, maybe get a haircut. I'm getting so shaggy.

JANA - I hope your girls are having a good time! Sometimes adventures with moose(es) can be - well - adventuresome! Glad they have good brakes! What veggies did you grill last night? Our fresh veggies are usually of the salad making variety,

CAROL - Love your quilts, but I think I like the dark one the best. It has a lot of optical illusions in it. What happens to the quilts now? I sure hope Code Enforcement acts quickly on that pool. It only takes a minute to lose a child. I think watching a baseball game is a great way to spend a summer afternoon. Who won?

TINA - you're right!! You just weren't supposed to go any place yesterday! What a day you had! But I'm glad you found a dress for Jaz! It sounds so pretty. Emerald green is one of my favorite colors. What is the top like? Straps? Sleeves? Sounds like chicken and veggies on the grill were the supper of the day!

BECCA - I'm sure your quilt isn't as bad as you think it is. We are all our own worst critics. I'm confident it will be loved for many years!

LORI - it will soon be sheet washing day here, too. I also wash them and put them right back on the bed. No folding necessary. And if weather permits, I dry them on the clotheslines.

I had no idea what supper might be when I started this post but I took inventory of the freezer and had a discussion with You Know Who and it's been decided that we will have jambalaya, using kielbasa. It sounds good to me!

What have you decided on for tonite's feast?

Good morning,

Maryz and Lori - both quilts will be given to Guild Community Service to be donated.

Maryz - We watched the Padres play Detroit. The Padres won 5 - 4. I have done everything I can to get the pool removed to a safer spot. I talked to a couple of other neighbors and both basically said they don’t want to get involved. Sad to hear.

Tina - Emerald green is a favorite of mine too and a great choice for a birthday party. Congratulations to Jaz.

My sewing room needs cleaning and it means cutting scraps, so I am working on that for a few days.

I am going to make Vegetable Barley Soup today for dinner.

Carol

Carol, Have you talked to the neighbor that put it up? I always try and resolve issues with neighbor directly first. Most people are reasonable. Someone will enjoy those quilts.

Mary, glad the meal worked out. Sounds like too many hands in the pot. I don't like folding sheets, so it's easier to take off wash, and put back on. I have an extra set just in case a dog or cat barfs on the bed in the middle of the night. And yes, that has happened.

Becca, having a pool is wonderful. Glad you are using it.

Tina, green with sparkly boots sounds perfect.

I'm heading out to check out a new sewing place for our friendship group this morning. It sound like it will be perfect, and it's at a quilt shop. Win, win!

Jack already took me for my walk, so I need to get ready.

We will have leftovers tonight.

Have a lovely day.

Lori 8-)

Lori - No, I have not talked to them. I do not believe that is a good idea. I do not want to be identified as complaining about my neighbor to the authorities. It is kind of like road rage.

I have two sets of sheets and rotate them. I do fold them. Many times I ask DH to hold one end on the flat sheet so it is easier to fold. The fitted sheets are easy to fold. I learned how many years ago. Start on the right side and place each hand in a corner that is on the same side. You might need to lay the sheet down and then place each hand in a corner on the other side then put all corners on one hand. Lay the sheet down arranging it neatly and then fold it. There is a you tube on it. By the way I am crazy enough to iron the pillowcases and the top portion of the sheets.

Carol -

Keep up the alerts to your code enforcement. They have to acknowledge all of them and someone will see it. Aaron has a partner that is not very diligent in their duty, and so it takes until Aaron is on duty for some things to get done.
