SUPPER CLUB - Friday, July 21st

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Jul 21, 2023 6:39 am

Good morning,

I'm outside with the owls this morning. They are such good company! But I think they've just gone to visit neighbors now.

Yesterday I did 3 turns on the dance floor with Mr. Maytag, then worked on the fall side of my table runner before we went to supper with Tex & Annette. The restaurant had been closed for almost a year because a car ran into it and did a lot of damage so they decided to renovate the entire place and it just re-opened. Food was excellent. I had a chicken tostada and a margarita. Then we went back to T & A's for dessert out on their deck. They gave Bill a cowbell. Not sure why, but at least he didn't get duplicate gifts! It was a very nice evening. Today, I'll work some more on my table runner and this evening we're going to other friends, Doyle & Susie. BTW, Bill was surprised and happy with his dash cam. He's still trying to figure it out and has it charging now.

This morning Bill gave ME a gift! The latest mystery in Lorna Barrett's Booktown series. I enjoy this author a lot and just listened (for about 3rd time) to two of her audiobooks. I'm on her e-mail list and 2 days ago received notice that this book was now available. I had no idea that Bill even knew about this author let alone that she was one of my favorites. He pre-ordered it for my birthday last March and it just now arrived. Can't wait to start reading!

CAROL - glad you are getting some nice weather. Usually you are cooking this time of year aren't you? And I'm glad you are on top of that pool situation! Scary for the littles next door!! I hope there is fast action! I'd want to be anonymous, too!

BECCA - the tornado was an F3 and it took out the Phizer pharmaceutical plant in Raleigh, I think. I'm glad none of your family was affected. Yes, I think Bill was surprised yesterday though I finally had to tell him we had "evening plans" when friend, Doyle, called and wanted us to come by their house. So I drove and Bill finally figured out the restaurant we were going to by the route we took. And he saw friend, Tex's car in the lot. But he really enjoyed everything.

TINA - did you find a dress for Jaz??? If so, describe please! Those temps are intolerable! Soon, they will be incompatible with life. But then, I think 90* is incompatible with life. MY life, anyway! And Drew's news was going back to his old job in the Naval Shipyard. He is excited. There's no room for advancement or more $$ in his present job and prices have risen so much that he's starting to struggle finanacially so he's decided to make a change.

So no cooking again tonite. :D Taking a frozen lasagna and leftover chocolate torte to Doyle and Susie's at 4pm. She is doing salad and bread. It will be another nice visit and a delicious supper.

What will be your delicious supper tonite?

Good morning!

Carol - that's Aaron's job, to check on code violations and keep his sources secret. They are very good at not letting the violator know how the report was received. A pool in the front yard and no fence would be a huge no no. Fencing is required period for any new pool and the pool itself would be called a attractive nuisance endangering children, etc. Aaron would be all over that and getting it removed, quickly!

Dinner is grilled chicken and veggies, with a shared baked potato.

Mary - fun for your grandson to go back to his old job. And almost pulled off Bill's surprise BD Dinner. Great to have the old restaurant ack and the food stayed yummy too! The girls are at Glacier Park today and yesterday had some interesting encounters with a moose! Glad that the truck has good brakes!

Tina- hope you found the perfect dress! Just in case, you can add simple straps to the top of a dress. I did that many times over the years.

Becca - your walks sound delightful down by the pond.

Well, Grumpy is fussing for his breakfast,

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning,

A couple weeks ago you will remember I was busy quilting quilts I identified as Intra-Guild Quilts. These quilts were made from blocks by other guild members and I put them together and quilted them. Here are the two I did:

Maryz - I did two loads of wash yesterday and will do three loads today. I need to clean bathroom and change the bed today too. Oh good, I can hang the sheets outside!

Jana - I hope someone in the building and safety department acts quickly. We live in the city of Los Angeles and I don't think they act as quickly as I know your Aaron would act. We will soon be hearing more sewing going on from you with your nice clean room! Yea!!

My plan for today is to clean the living room after a yoga class this morning then we will watch a baseball game late afternoon. Dinner will be leftovers.

Good morning all! 🌞
Mary, Bill's birthday supper sounds like it was fun and yummy food.
That was nice that you got a gift too ❤
Becca, glad your family is safe.
We did find a dress right here in town for Jazmyne. It's an emerald green with a trane and a slit up the middle in the front, she also found fancy black sparkly boots to wear with it. I'll try to get a picture and show you after her party.
Drew's news sounds like a good deal for him.
Carol, those are pretty quilts, great quilting!
Well Frankie didn't make his appointment yesterday. We left here in way plenty of time but we got halfway and there was a bad accident with a vehicle on fire and we sat at a total stop for over 30 minutes and no sign of when they'd open the highway back up. It was 104° plus all the heat the semis and other vehicles were making from setting there running. Thankfully we were in the left lane and we drove up about ¼ mile on the shoulder to where we could cross back over onto the west bound side and we came home.
We came home and took a break and took care of the dogs and then went to the movies to watch Indiana Jones. We were about halfway through the movie when there fire alarm went off and they had to evacuate the building. We stood out in the 108° heat with a west wind that felt like a blow torch for 10 to 15 minutes and then they let us back in to finish watching. There was no smoke smell or anything so I'm not really sure what happened and the fire department didn't even go. I'm thinking yesterday just wasn't our day to go anywhere!
I'm going to make chicken and veggies on the grill for supper.

Maryz I am happy you were able to surprise Bill I think men are harder to surprise Happy for your DGS Hope he’s happier in his new work
Tina I wish I could send you cooler temps I feel for you both So happy Jaz found her perfect dress Knowvit will be beautiful
Carol Those quilts are both beautiful but I love the dark one best I normally like light better but that one is striking and different
Jana Hope your girls have a wonderful trip
I would never ever have a pool without a fence We had ours enclosed in screen & you had to break in door to get in You can’t be too careful where kids are involved
I choose a salad with baked sweet potato
Have a great day
The tornado was in Rocky Mount north of Raleigh It took a big chuck out of the Plant

Nice quilts Carol. What do you do with them?

Mary, how fun to get a birthday gift months later. Gifts anytime are nice.

Jana, you're funny. Mr. Grumpy...lol

I did errands most of the morning then washed the sheets and put them back on the bed. Did a few things around the house. Now I'm going to clean up my cutting table. It's collected thing again.

Dinner was chicken, lemon pasta with a lemon alfredo sauce, and broccoli.

Sleep well.
