SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, July 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jul 02, 2023 6:11 am

Good morning,

Despite fireworks being banned this year in our area, they still kept me awake much of the night - or more specifically, the dog barking at them kept me awake. Grrr..... I actually like the fireworks displays but not the ones that are just noise.

Yesterday was laundry and the weather was purrfect for line-drying. Today I think I'll do the sheets. Now that Bill is finished with his septic tank project, maybe we'll get my OWL loaded onto the frame. I will be working on Christmas swap blocks at least part of the time. I also think my kitchen counters need polishing and our master bath needs a little attention. So the day will be filled to the brim, as usual.

LORI - Are your little quilts kind of standard wall hangings or are they "mini quilts"? It must be nice to have a break from big quilts. I don't have an inch of wall space in my sewing room and not many walls at all in the rest of the house. I did find a second Mrs. Clause block, but there is no pattern. I'm going to study it today. Maybe I'll make a change.

TINA - we had a dog named Cricket in our family, too - Lee & Lara's rottweiler. A sweetie dog! And my brother, Gene, just lost his doxie, Rascal, a couple months ago - not long after he lost his wife. Rascal and Gene made quite a pair. Your evening at the winery sounds like a nice time for you all!

CAROL - sometimes we end up eating the same thing for lunch and dinner for several days. It does get boring! Yes, I'm relieved about my Christmas shopping, too. There is no way I'm taking our huge truck into the HEAVY traffic and going shopping after we get to Austin. Arghh! I know I'd wreck it before I got 5 miles. And I'm not an on-line shopper. Last year I sent cash to A&A and asked them to got to Home Depot or Ace and buy Bill a drill press for me. It worked out well, but this year the kids have better things to do than my Christmas shopping!

JANA - I'm so glad they didn't send Michael home to await surgery. We'll be thinking of you both tomorrow. And it's good to hear he is talking trains to the staff!

Tonite we're having Rice a Roni one dish meal. But I think I'll add some black beans and green onions to it along with a can of chicken. Plus a side salad. I'm already hungry!

What's your plan?

Good morning to you all🌞🌞
Mary, at the winery they had an awesome fireworks display but other than that I haven't seen any of heard any anywhere else. Duncan and Rosie don't mind them though so unless I'm the one to hear it see we wouldn't know. Now you let a stray cat or a skunk come around and miles away will know LOL
Cricket for a rottweiler name, hmm LOL that makes me smile.
Jana, prayers for Michael πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™
Carol, we hardly ever have leftovers except at the holidays, I've gotten very thrifty with what I make LOL never thought I'd learn to cook for only 2 or 3. Ohh I was thinking on your bean salad..... What about if you made it then froze small batches? Or maybe it doesn't freeze well?
Well my plans today are floors, dust, bathrooms and sew 🀞🀞🀞
Supper tonight is a mystery as of yet.

Tina, sound like fun at the winery. I love to go to the wineries for lunch and sit outside.
The views are always beautiful.

Mary, maybe you could condense some pieces in the Mrs. Claus. I'm sure there are other patterns with less pieces somewhere. I'll be on the lookout. The quilts are wall hangings, but they are called mini quilts.
I made a Hole in the barn door that is 14 x 18, and aa Quarter square triangle quilt that was 11 x 13 that's in the fair. Tiny little pieces. You just have to go slow and be accurate with your sewing. The butterfly quilt is 13 1/2 x 17 1/2. I need to quilt that one still. Also, quilting them is really easy.

Just waiting on Bill to get back from breakfast so we can take the boys to the park for our walk.
I'll be finishing up my April OWL today, and maybe quilt the butterflies. I also need to vacuum.

Dinner will be potato salad and grilled burgers.

Have a lovely day.

Good Evening,

I have had a busy day quilting. I would like to finish this quilt before Thursday. I have classes Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week at the Long Beach International Quilt Festival.

Maryz - Less than a mile from us is the San Pedro Marine Animal Rescue Center. The are rescuing sea lions and seals in record numbers because of an algae bloom. The fireworks have been going off the last few days even though they have said it is scaring these wonderful creatures. The animals need water and rest. I do not like the loud noises and one just happened during dinner 15 minutes ago.

Tina - I have only been experimenting with these recipes for a month and I have thought I needed to freeze portions. I did tonight with the soup I made.

Lori - Hope you had a good long walk with the boys this morning. Your little quilts sound very cute.

Tonight, I made a vegetable soup and added cannellini beans to it. I did freeze portions for later meals.

Carol, what classes are you taking? I'll be in Sister's Oregon next weekend for their quilt show. Flying up Wednesday.

We have had very loud illegal fireworks several days. Wrigley is the only one it bothers. Our cat Molly doesn't even hear them anymore.

Lori - I am taking a piping class (#115), and two quilting classes with Jenny Lyon (#225 & #226). I am looking forward to all of them. I will also be doing a couple of hours of white glove duty for Guild. We have our Opportunity quilt there on Thursday.
