SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, June 27th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Jun 27, 2023 8:29 am

Good morning,

It's been so dark the last few mornings. It's almost like the days are getting shorter by 1/2 hr increments rather than by a minute. Thank you, Pacific Ocean. But we'll break 70* by this afternoon, even if cloudy.

CAROL - your bean soup sounds like a keeper. We love bean anything! I'm going to guess that your intra-guild quilt is a project that everyone in your guild has contributed to? And your contribution is borders? I have been enjoying your Amanda Flower books. I finally found them at the library and downloaded them with the Libby app on my phone and listen to while I sew/cook/clean/whatever. I'm on my third one which is Blueberry Blunder. The shorter stories are about different characters that are in the main stories? I'm not "reading" them all in order because they weren't all available. But I got the first one first to set up all the characters. Thanks! And yes, my fingers are so used to typing RV that they didn't get the memo from my brain fast enough to type TV instead.

TINA - sorry about the headache. Extreme heat gives me headaches. But so do other things. And I'm betting your philly cheese steak sandwiches were 1,000% better than the frozen ones from Costco. We are hosting a BBQ sometime in July for Bill's gym class friends - our other Supper Club. And we may serve those - homemade of course! So, do you have a fabric store in Deming now?? You said you were going grocery shopping and to the fabric store looking for light batiks for the July lotto. I'm waiting kind of impatiently for the Christmas swap to get posted. I am ready!

BECCA - How nice it will be to have a visit with Denise! I think you said you are about 1-1/2 hrs from her? Half the time you used to be. I hope your cutter turns up. You know, as soon as you go buy a new one, it will magically appear. One of the laws of life. Like never give away your maternity clothes!!

LORI - no, developers here always completely clear cut any land before building a new development. The won't leave so much as a leaf. Such a crime against nature in my opinion.

Last night's penne pesto plan turned into a Mexican taco casserole. I was missing a couple of ingredients and I added diced green chilies and it was all good. Bill loved it and happily, we have half of it left. So that will be tonite's supper.

Mary, you are funny. It's probably just dark because of clouds. When it's in the 90's, your going to be wishing for those dark days again. lol Bummer about them clearing everything to build whatever. I read an article the other day about Japan moving their tree to build. They don't cut them down. Especially the really old ones. They carefully remove them and relocate them. Builders just want it to be easy so they can make money fast. They don't care about the future.

Becca, dinner sounds delicious.

I Jack and Wrigley took me for a walk. I came home and made granola. And now toasting pecans. I'm also giving my sewing room a good cleaning. Moving everything and mopping. It's get quite furry because Jack, Wrigley, and Molly like to all hang out with me in there. The room is only 9x11 so it's very cozy.

We'll I best get back to what I was doing. I was just waiting for the floor to dry.

Dinner will be BBQ chicken, potato salad.

Have a lovely day.
Lori 8-)

I have just returned from having the oil changed in the car. It took 4-1/2 hours!! Too long, so next time DH will be changing the oil. They told me the delay was because the computers were down this morning and it caused a 2 hour delay, so why did I have to wait 4-1/2 hours??

I am also waiting for the cardiologist to change an appointment. They booked it and needed to reschedule then I made a mistake and booked on top of another appointment. (The second doctor is also one that is hard to get an appointment, so I am waiting.) Patients make appointments via text message then secure internet. It is a slow process, and I tried all day yesterday. I had to wait until I was home today in order to do it. The doctors are the best, but this system is horrible!

Maryz- I haven't read the shorter stories. I really laughed at the pig. I loved the Jethro character. I like to read stories in order. It was a good series.

Becca - Glad to hear Denise is so much closer to you. Hopefully it means she will visit often.

Lori - The Intra-Guild project quilt is one of six quilts. I will be quilting only two of those. The first only needs to have the border quilted. The quilts are each made from six blocks from guild members then sewn together with two borders. You will see one soon.

Forgot dinner! I am thinking of making a Barley and Bean Salad using much the same ingredients as the soup (without the chicken broth).

Hi everyone! I'm sliding in late, my computer won't update anymore and I can't get it to go online so we went to Walmart and I bought a new one. Then I got the Christmas block swap posted after I figured out the initial setup. It has Windows 11 and it's an HP.
Mary, we ended up having leftover spaghetti last night and the Philly steak and cheese and fries in the air fryer tonight. At 4:30 this morning it had only gotten down to 82° our AC ran all night long. We have the same fabric shop as always, have you ever been in it? She has a lot of fabric, her Southwest section is amazing! Jazmyne was falling in love with tons of it yesterday and I had to say no and get her out of there LOL
Becca, that's great you're so much closer to Denise, that's the same distance that Kevin and family is from us. Your supper sounds yummy!
Lori, wish the US cared about their trees like Japan. Your room sounds perfect ❤️
Carol, that's a very long wait! Glad you got it done. My dad doesn't text or anything computer related but the Drs offices keep sending him texts even after he's told them he doesn't know how to do that. They've changed or cancelled appointments on him that way and he drove the hour to his appointment he thought he still had to find out he didn't..... Needless to say he told them an ear full.
Well I need to clean my kitchen. Sammy came in the house today for about an hour, she's was looking for her mommy 💔 she is so heartbroken, it kills me 😢

Tina - I finally had time this afternoon to sit on the phone and wait and changed the appointment. It will not be until September. I think I would have left this morning from having the oil changed, but it needed to get done today or I would not have had time to do it before our vacation on the 10th. At 33% oil life it needed to get done.
