SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Sept 22

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Sep 22, 2022 7:23 am

Good morning,

What a weird night here. I went to bed at 9pm, woke at 11:30 and found Bill out of bed and asleep in his lounge chair in the family room. I read for a bit, finally got up and went upstairs to the living room, made tea and read some more. Foxy, who sleeps with us in our bed, didn't know where he was supposed to sleep and looked confused. Scottie slept right on - in his own bed. I went back to bed at 1:30, woke at 5 and Bill was back in bed. He said he came back at 3:30. Lots of roaming around through the night here.

I finished all my log cabin blocks and got them sewn together yesterday. Today - borders and backings. Yay! Then I plan to use the scraps to make toss pillows. My machine is tired and needs a refreshing stay at the Bernie Spa when we go camping - first week of Oct.

CAROL - glad you're home safe and sound and well! Are apricots supposed to bloom in Sept? Mail! The bane of returning home! Laundry is #2 on my "bane" list.

JANA - did you get much of the T-storm? How long til Kari hears about her new job?

BECCA - your books should arrive towards the end of the month. I didn't write a note with them because technically, you aren't supposed to include even a short note when you mail media rate. But I hope you enjoy them. The Alpine books by Mary Daheim are my favorites. There is a total of 28 books in that series. I sent you the first one and the Christmas one along with one of her other series and a few non-Daheim books. I really appreciate our Q forum, too. First thing I do every morning grab my cup of coffee and my laptop to see what everyone is up to. It's my backyard coffee klatch!

LORI - I'm glad you got to see your friend and hopefully you will be able to see her again. Messes just happen don't they. Gremlins at work.

TINA - what a wild bummer about your A/C. I hope it's all resolved soon. How was your day with the littles? A smoocher of a day, I'll bet! Did you get to eat out last night?

I haven't decided about our supper yet. Y'all thought bacon and shredded cheese in our pancakes was 'different'? I grew up eating pancakes like that. Sometimes Mom just poured the batter over cooked strips of bacon rather than use bits. And sometimes she just put corn in the batter. It makes them heartier - supper pancakes. But tonight is still a big ole' question mark.

Have you got YOUR question answered yet?

Good morning! Happy first day of Fall!
Mary, we have nights like that here too. LOL sometimes we meet in the recliners in there livingroom in the dark. It makes for an exhausting next day, naps are usually found.
Mom used to make corn fritters for supper, pretty much corn in pancakes to me 🤷‍♀️
I bet you didn't even think to take your Bernina to the spa while your siblings were there, since you couldn't sew anyways.
We got ¼" off rain Tuesday night, it was nice... my flower beds loved it!
I ate chickfila after 9 last night when we got home so then I had to stay up to let it settle. Frankie ate on the road because I was the driver.
Becca, wow you've already done a whole days worth of chores!
We're waiting for the AC place to call or arrive, they're supposed to call before they leaves Cruces but sometimes they don't. Their window is 8 to noon, it's almost 9:30 now and it's an hours drive. 🤷‍♀️
Supper tonight is pork chops, apple sauce and salad.

Mary, sounds like a crazy night at your house. When I can't sleep I'll turn on the TV. That usually makes me tired. Reading sometimes helps, unless I'm really enjoying the book, then I just want to keep reading.

Becca, hope you get to enjoy your company tomorrow.

Tina, corn pancakes don't sound very good, but then again I've never had them. I make buttermilk pancakes. They are easy to make with only 6 ingredients, and I always have buttermilk on hand.

I started quilting a fall braid quilt yesterday. I'm using a leaf stencil for some of the areas, and then drawing diamonds in the mid border. Still deciding what to do with the other sections. I think I made this back in 2020. So I'll work on that a bid more today.

Going out to dinner with my friends tonight. We're going to a Mexican restaurant.

Have a lovely day.

Good afternoon!

Well, I haven't made it to my Batt Cave, yet, the afternoon is still young, I hope. Been washing counters, stove and backsplashes and mopping the floor. Short break and I will finish the other half of the kitchen floor. Then I can put down all the chairs. I flip them upside down on the table edge. I even ran Yoohoodi since the chairs were out of the way. No more sticking to the floor! LOL!

Dinner - so I have the sides ready, leftover fried rice and linguine and Alfredo. I will grill a couple of steaks and a salad and we're good to go. At least that's the plan right now. Kari has her interview, in person at 4 pm and then it's a hour drive home. This may impact dinner plans, the kids may want to go out and eat.

Sarah has arranged for a irrigation specialist to come and go over my system for a bid to move, refurbish and add new. He comes tomorrow at noon. We need to replace all the sprinkler heads. The ones we have now are too misty in their spray pattern that blows away in the wind. Which we have plenty of!

Tina - I read your problem to Michael. First thing he said, was, no one should have changed the engineer's requirement. Because they used a smaller gauge wire - that is causing the motor in the AC unit problems in turning on, a brown out as he called it. That puts undue strain on the motor starting and that causes all kinds of problems. There are specific formulas that are used and required by National Electrical code as to size of wire for run of distance and load factors. Most likely your problems could be solved by putting in the right gauge wire just as the engineer required.

Well, kitty cat is looking at me, sideways, as I have been mopping and vacuuming her territory. She's not too sure about these gadgets!

Enjoy,
Jana
