SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Sept 21st

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Sep 21, 2022 6:21 am

Good morning,

Yesterday was a great day! Purrfect weather, a nice walk, coffee at my friend's house (former co-worker), and lots of sewing. I have the last 15 log cabin blocks half done. I will work on them some more today. I sent Aut photos of all the different ways the blocks could be arranged (as shown in El's original log cabin book!) and she chose the chevron and wants them both the same. So this project is moving right along!

This morning a friend who was also at coffee yesterday wants to come by to get some of my crocosmia that I ripped out last week and threw into the slash pile in the woods. So I need to go dig through all the yard debris and find then. Won't be hard. There was a LOT of crocosmia! It always comes back. I just have to 'thin' it every year by ripping it all out. I also have chiropractor early this morning.

TINA - I sure hope you didn't get bamboozled with your AC unit! Is it the entire solar set up or just the AC? Or is it all part and parcel the same? Is your heat in winter tied into this system?

BECCA - glad you got that appt behind you. Only one more to go, right? Today I'm going to the post office after my chiro appt. Books coming to you! I hope you enjoy them.

JANA - they may be bickering at each other but how great that you have kids willing to help in the yard! Believe me, that doesn't happen in a lot of families. I hope Kari gets the new job if it's one she wants. How great is it that your new clothes are too big! Congrats on that!

CAROL - welcome home - later today! I'm glad you didn't get too sick. Sounds like it was the same variant that got Ken & Judi on their vacation. But their son, who wasn't vaccinated, was very sick with it. God bless the scientists who developed the vaccine! So you are going straight down I-5. It's a good route through CA and we'll be following in your tire treads in just 8-1/2 weeks. There is a scenic vista going south just into CA with a fantastic panoramic view of the valley and Mt. Shasta. We always stop there. There is a short rock wall and we always stand Scottie (and before him, Snickers) on that wall and give him a good brushing. The hair just flies off him! It's the first stop where we start feeling the warmer temps. Not sure why he releases all his hair right then - warmth, perhaps? But both dogs always have. Bill wasn't too happy to hear you saw snow on Shasta, though. And how was the lake? Still super low?

We have some milk that has gone a bit over the hill for drinking so I'm going to use it to make pancakes for
supper tonite. I'll add some bacon bits and shredded cheese into the batter. What my mom called supper pancakes. Eggs on the side.

What's the plan for your plate tonite?

Good morning everyone!
Mary, glad there's a layout plan now for the quilts. You'll have those finished by next week. What's the next project?
We hope we weren't taken either but it's looking more and more like it. I do have a letter from the owner saying he'll pay any differences, Kevin says that's a good thing so I'm hoping. We actually heat our whole house with a pellet stove but this system does have a heat pump plus we have a gas furnace, it's just the AC for summer we need in very good working order and to be reliable when we need it.
The problem we have with the solar is the engineer said it had to have number 6 wire ran for the distance and the installers didn't use bigger PVC and tried pulling number 6 through the same size PVC that they normally use with smaller wire. So the installers took the plans off site and switched the wire size to number 10 without even asking us or letting us know so when PNM and the state came and inspected it they told us it was a smaller wire, they approved it because it was installed correctly but it wasn't what we paid for or were told we needed. This is causing the microinverters to burn up, we've had 5 burn up out of 18 so far. Even the tech said the place it's under warranty at will start to question why they keep going out because apparently these things hardly ever will go out..... We've been the first they've ever had to replace in however many years. LOL I feel like I'm writing a book sorry. Anybody have a lawyer in the family that could give us a family discount? Ugh it's so frustrating. Not to mention the stress it causes.
Well today is father son golf day so I get to visit Maria and Elijah and I just found out Matthew gets out of school early enough that I get some Matthew hugs and time in❤️❤️ is great to be me!
Supper will probably be out after being gone all day. Jazmyne and Holly will be taking care of Duncan and Rosie.

Tina, what a bummer you have to deal with this problem. Sounds like someone was trying to cut corners and it didn't work. Hopefully you get it resolved soon.

Mary, you are just whipping out those quilts again. I have a log cabin WIP. I'm making 64 blocks for a queen size. I'm about 3/4 of the way done and I fizzled out. I will get back to it soon.

I haven't really done much in the last week. I did go see my friend who has cancer. It came on quick and she will be gone soon. I'm glad I got to see her. I'm hoping to go out one more time maybe next week.
I have been working a little on organizing things. I don't know how they get so out of order. I guess I'm just messy that way.

Dinner will be grilled burgers.

Have a lovely day.

Good afternoon!

Tina - if I remember right from what Michael has taught me, the larger gauge wire was specified because the smaller gauge will have line loss over distance and will overheat, possibly damaging things. The larger gauge is designed to eliminate things like that. Stay on top of things!

Severe thunderstorm warnings are now being issued for around me. Still north, but will be here shortly. Probably just as we leave to take Ethan to cello. Oops, just heard the first clap of thunder!

Dinner - Probably fettuccine and Alfredo sauce. We have some leftovers from last night's Chinese I made. That will heated and eaten too.

That's about it here,
Hugs,
Jana

Good Evening,

Dinner tonight was Pasta and Meat Sauce.

Mary - Yes, it was I-5, except for the trip over to Livermore. Yes, Shasta Lake is extremely low. I really don't think it was a lot of snow, it was just fresh snow. The week before Shasta was brown. It was nice to see it with white.

We arrived home at 11:30 AM. We had a good drive home. The cat is home, the mail was delivered and all is well. I was surprised to find the Apricot tree is blooming! I really do not think it is doing well.

Tina - Enjoy those hugs from Matthew. You get to smooch Elijah too! It is good to be you!

Lori - I was sorry to read about your friend. I am so sorry for you and for her.

Becca - Hope the RN was helpful today. I have never heard of putting bacon and cheese in pancakes either. Mary comes up with some interesting meals.

Jana - We heard thunder last night in Livermore. Weather reported heavy rain, but where we were staying there was none in the evening, but the ground was wet when we left this morning. Yosemite has also been getting rain.

Most of today was spent opening mail and sorting laundry. Hope everyone is doing well.

Carol
