SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, April 24th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Apr 24, 2022 5:48 am

Good morning,

We are 41* this morning, but weather forecast is for a high of 67* this afternoon. Unfortunately where we will be - camped at the ocean - it's only supposed to be 54* with 50% chance of rain come late afternoon - campfire and supper time. Oh well. There is an old saying in our area - "Don't complain, camp in the rain." At least we have a nice warm and dry trailer to retreat into. I've spent many a camping trip huddled under a blue tarp around a fizzling campfire, hugging a mug of a hot drink.

Yesterday I finished my Penguins and hope to get a photo up this morning. It's ready for the LA now. And Wooded Whimsy came off the LA and I have it trimmed and ready to bind and label when I get home.

We will be off around 0930 this morning. Our Boondockers will be gone by 0900. We are packed except for those few last minute things.

CAROL - Jay Leno? You're going to hear Jay speak? We LOVE Jay Leno! Do you know his name is really James? Is he going to do a comedy monologue? I have 3 different BC cookbooks. Now I'm going to have to go look for that strawberry bread recipe, too.

JANA - I have full faith that you will do beyond excellent both teaching your lesson and performing your chorister duties. And lucky Michael - getting to sit in the soft seats!

BECCA - you are indeed having some beautiful weather. I'm sorry to hear your BP isn't behaving again, but it's the best excuse for sitting and relaxing and enjoying your porch. I hope you have a good book, or handwork to do while you listen to the birds and watch for deer.

VELDA - Your quilt is really pretty! Happy Dancing! How do you make your apple dumplings? I've seen them with dough wrapped around an apple and baked. I've also seen apples peeled, sliced, and stewed with cinnamon and brown sugar and dumpling dough (the biscuity kind) dropped into the apples to cook.

IRISH - your plane will take off just about the exact same time we pull out in our trailer. Save travels to us both!

Tonite we are planning to grill burgers in camp. I made potato salad yesterday to go with. We also have canned baked beans, though I don't think we'll be needing those. We just don't eat that much anymore.

What's happening in your kitchen tonite?

Good Morning,

Maryz - I don't think it will be a comedy routine. This is a lecture series. We have really enjoyed going to these lectures. You only own three BC cookbooks? I must have at least 12, I should go count. I found the Strawberry Nut Bread online at the BC website.

Have fun on the camping trip and be safe!

Dorothy, have fun in Cabo and be safe.

Everyone else I will be back later.

Carol

Good morning!
Hope your camping is fun, Mary. Carol, I like Jay Leno, too. What kind of subject for a lecture? I know he is into cars, and of course, comedy.
Supper tonight is still undecided.
Apple dumplings? Simply peel and core a nice baking apple. Lay on a piece of pie crust. I use one crust for two apples. Spoon cinnamon/sugar into where core was. Wrap crust up around apple. I also add a dab if butter in with the cinnamon/sugar and brush outside with a little melted butter and sprinkles of cin/sug and bake. I do mine in air fryer of course.
369° for 15-18 min. First time I made them, apple came out feeling not soft enough, I next time I bought different apples and now I precook apple in microwave for 1-2 minutes.
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Mary, hope it clears up enough for you to be outside with a roaring fire. Have fun. Looking forward to seeing you penguins.

Vel, love you lotto quilt.

I spent all day yesterday learning about my new Bernina. It does lots of fun things. The button hole maker is the easiest one I've ever used. I might even make a blouse with button now. It's been years since I've done that. Today I need to clean and organize the sewing room. I'm also going to the guild storage to help the President get some things out for the show in a couple weeks.

I think we will order in pizza.
