SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, April 12th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Apr 12, 2022 7:23 am

Good morning,

37* here this morning, but no snow! Much of western WA got hit but not us. But we should have a rainy afternoon and only about 46* high. And that is just about our forecast for the next week.

Yesterday I cleaned the laundry room and the master bath. Then I started cutting some pieces for my Penguins, before driving Bill to eye appt. Today the tub refinisher guy is coming to do our old claw foot tub. Yay! Bubble baths again! On my agenda for today - cut some more penguin pieces and maybe clean the linen closet. Or the storage closet under the stairs. Or get out my summer clothes. Or . . . . just not ALL of those chores. I pick one a day - and not every day!

CAROL - those are indeed nice words - "Let's go out". I rarely hear those words unless I speak them myself.

JANA - yay for your MLB TV! I would like to watch Mariners occasionally, but Mr. B doesn't care for baseball. Says it's too slow. Yay for having a stove! No excuses now. Get cookin', Lady! Foxy likes to lay on only special things - either the bare funiture, a quilt, or plush fabric. I have a small plush blankie for him on the downstairs couch, but I should make one for upstairs, too, I guess.

VELDA - you've told us before, but I've forgotten - what kind of fabric do you use for the school bags?

LORI - oh, I get it! like a tote bag! Where do you get that rice bag fabric? Maybe Jack just wanted to see life through your eyes . . . Or maybe he just had a naughty moment. Glad the glasses will be covered.

BECCA - you are quite the gardener! It took us 2 years to trim up our lilac bush after our big snow of 2019. It's great that the lab will come to CA. Now if only the dentist would make house calls. Dementia is so dreadful. My DSIL is end stages of Alz and it's breaking my brother's heart. They've been married for about 65 years.

Tonite I am making a margharita pizza. I have fresh basil, fresh mozzarella so this will be a good use for them.

What's the supper plan at your house?

Good morning!

Shortly it will be a adventure in driving! Michael has his normal checkup and there are several roads right at the Dr's office that are closed due to ice and vehicles crashed because of it. Hope with the sun up and out, it will have melted off. We got about 8 inches overnight.

Dinner plans are flexible right now - maybe a chicken and rice cassarole or broccoli cheese soup. With either, I can play with my oven! We are stopping off at the grocery store 9n the way home.

Matt and Crenda came out and finished moving all the big heavy pieces of furniture. We use those slides that go under each foot. They certainly are a great invention! I have several sets and put them to use! Now all that is left is putting all the wiring back in place for lights and phones. With floating your furniture in the middle of a room, you have challenges to light it.

Mary - I love claw foot tubs! I have always wanted one. My aunt had one in her home in the mountains and got rid of it when they redid the bathroom. What a shame that was!

Well, Matt just called and needs to borrow our PEX crimping tool for his basement project. It's used for plumbing work. We are dropping it off, as the Dr office is just down the street from his house.

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning all!
I just got caught up reading.
Mary, you always find neat things at the thrift stores, whenever we go I don't find anything. I don't go very often either though LOL
Glad you got the couches all cleaned, upholstering here used to be pretty inexpensive and people used to drive the 30 miles to Mexico to get their chairs and couches and vehicle seats redone for $100 each....I don't know what it costs these days though. I'm not even sure we have anyone in town that does it anymore. I need to clean my couches, the arms smell like doggy drool...I keep covers I made on the seat parts all the time though.
I thought you just cleaned your storage closet under your stairs?
You sure keep busy.
Jana, yay for having a working oven again! Jazmyne seems to be our helper these days for moving things or stuff I can't reach. Kevin is coming Friday or Saturday to help his dad install those barn doors though, they are way too heavy for Jazmyne to help.... we don't want to hurt her back.
Yesterday I trimmed Rosie on her face, head, neck, hiney and feet and the day before did all that to Duncan plus his back and tummy. They went to the vet to get their shots and a checkup and their nails trimmed. I can't trim nails, I nicked one of my poodles years ago and it only had 1 drop of blood but it stressed me out so badly that I can't do it anymore. We also stopped at the new groomer for a price but I'm still thinking on it. I just didn't get a good feeling about the place. Dad takes his tiny little yorkie there and they seem to do a good job on her..... I'll think about it more....
We are now in our windy season.....I bet you all thought we already were LOL nope. We have had 3 straight days and nights of wind and dirt. The gusts were so bad at about 3am that it woke us both up, sounded like it was going to take the roof off. School is going to be let out early.. they wait till it's the worse then put the kids on buses where the drivers can't see to drive. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️
I made red enchilada sauce last night and we had cheese enchiladas. Tonight I think I'll make burritos with the red on them, not sure what with them yet.

Mary, you can use whatever fabric you like. I do have some Japanese fabric that I used in the red/white/blue one. That's mine. Then I used batiks for one and some Kaffe and bright fabrics for the the other. The bottom is 6 inch square and they are 8 inches tall.

Good Morning,

Maryz - I think that is the first time DH has said it. Usually it is me saying, "Let's go out tonight." Sometimes we decide not to go too. Last Friday, I was watching TV and flipped to "Undercover Boss". The CEO was from Coco's. The first location they went to was San Pedro, where we went to dinner. We recognized our server last night as the one from TV and had a very nice conversation with her.

Lori - Those bags are really cute.

Becca - Glad you got the bushes trimmed. You are planting tomatoes too. I really would like fresh tomatoes this year, maybe I will go buy some this week.

Jana -Yea! A working oven! Did the oven cause some of your "I can't bake!" woes? Hopefully you can once again make some cookies for the GK. Be careful on those snowy roads.

Tina - We are having a very windy day here as well. The wind was howling last night.

Tonight's dinner will be Stuffed Pepper Casserole.

First I will answer Mary's question: Donated heavier fabrics get used. Such as denim, tapestry, duck cloth, upholstery or drapery, corduroy. One piece was just a bit too light weight, so I sewed with double layer. It worked great.
Second,: what food for today???? I think we will have a breakfast supper tonight. I have lots of eggs given to us from farmer friends from church.
Quilting went great, but didn't have very many workers today. So we broke up a little earlier than normal. Now, when lunch is done I plan to just be lazy the rest of the afternoon.
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Well, I am now officially the last of my generation. My oldest brother passed away this morning. We knew it was coming, so no big surprise. He lives up north of me, in Layton.

We tease in this family that after you reach 83, you are on borrowed time. My mom, my grandmother, aunt, all passed at that age. My brother just turned 84, in March.
