SUPPER CLUB - Monday, March 14th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Mar 14, 2022 6:42 am

Good morning,

We're 43* this morning and light rain. Going to heavy rain and 46* later today. Sigh. I was hoping to grill some burgers tonite, but maybe we'll find something else to eat - or else broil them.

March is whizzing by! We have 17 birthdays in our family or circle of friends this month. I'm so afraid I'm going to forget someone even though everyone is on our calendar. Today is my nephew's.

It's been a busy weekend around here. We did a major stocking up trip to Costco so I cleaned out our pantries and freezer and got organized. Again. We got our downstairs almost back together after the electrical work, and Bill is down to one last quilt, and I finally finished putting together the last QIAD comfort top from all the donated blocks. That was a marathon! Today - finish putting furniture back in place downstairs and give it all a good cleaning, do laundry, clean my sewing room, and maybe Bill and I will get started quilting that quilt. This one is going to be a combined effort on both our parts.

VELDA - You and I have a similar outlook on quilting! That photo looks a lot like some of the backs I've made over the years! Actually, I kind of like that look, especially when it's done with scraps of fabric from the front. I'll try to add a photo in here of the top I put together yesterday.

LORI - I've never seen that Jen Kingwell video but I bet it was interesting. I just choose what I'm feeling at the moment. Usually, I'm happy with my choices. It's nice that you have friends to go sew with. All my sewing buddies are right here on QIAD. I have none near me in "real" life. But once Mary Q and Sue were both here at the same time and we all worked like demons to make a quilt in a day for someone on here who needed comfort. It was a fun day for us, even all working together in my tiny sewing room.

CAROL - I'm halfway there with the cleaning. I wouldn't let Bill put any furniture back in place until I'd swept and mopped. I told him he had to let the floor dry and his eyes lit up. I returned 15 minutes later and found him sound asleep in his recliner, a quilt over his face! lol! I like your corner block ideas for your quilt!

I'm thinking about those Yankee Dip sandwiches I've been wanting to have. We grill them outside usually and I don't know if my griller will want to stand out there while they cook. So - we may end up putting them under the broiler in the house. Or have frozen chicken burgers instead. And a salad. I would love potato salad on the side, but we usually go with a green salad instead. Our concession to our aging diets.

And you?

This is the last PFTH Top I put together from donated blocks. Most of the tops were not such a hodgepodge but these were the remaining“stems and seeds”.

DST has me all off kilter today. I have my to do list ready to go, but can't seem to find my get up and go to get started. Right now I'm having my morning coffee and have my knee elevated with the heating pad on it. I took some ibu to help the arthritis pain and swelling and hope my knee will perk up soon so I can get busy with my day.

I'm thinking a chef's salad sounds good to bring to the table tonight, but we'll see if that comes to pass or changes as the day progresses.

Good morning!
Painting is finished on the front, west and east sides of the house! Woohoo!!! We have trim to paint and put up on 6 windows to keep us busy until we can get the siding for the back.... probably end of April or first part of May for that. I'm hoping by end of May will find us all finished with this huge project. Then it should be ok for at least 10 years 🤞🤞.
Mary, the stems and seeds really came out awesome in my opinion! Thank you for all you've done and do ❤ you're a try treasure ❤❤
Frankie and Bill must have the same affliction LOL falling asleep in between projects. I guess those "5" minute naps are required.
Maryrose, I hope the ibuprofen helps.
I think I'm making philly steak and cheese sandwiches for supper and I'll do fries in the air fryer.

I am not a fan of this new time I was up later this morning
I still have some coughing lingering

Maryz I like your quilt & the way you added borders Quilts to me shouldn’t be perfect although I know that’s what we strive for My Mother used what she had on hand
Tina I’m so glad you are nearing the end of your big project
Lori I watched the video because color always bothers me when I’m choosing
Rosebud I too don’t have my usual get n go with this time

Good afternoon!

I have been busy this morning. A package said it was delivered from Amazon, but it wasn't. So took care of that and they are replacing the missing item. Good thing, Michael was grumbling, that's not good. It will be here Friday, if it doesn't take the scenic route - again! The original package left Michigan, to Illinois, back to Missouri, then to Jacksonville Florida, then finally to Salt Lake, supposedly delayed here by a weather event or natural disaster. Yeah right, bright sunshine and no earthquake created that delay. LOL! I am now heading down to my Batt Cave them a dress for my friend.

Dinner - something new - not poultry of any kind! Tired of turkey! I am looking forward to my corned beef on St Patrick's day. I have some hamburger that I can create something with. Yesterday Ethan and I made a choice goodie - Pioneer woman Devil Dogs. Oh they were good! We shared with neighbors and kept a couple for us. They are diet food, I give them away, so I don't eat them!

Happy Pi Day! Michael has his favorite pie ready to celebrate- pumpkin. I made him several individual serving size pies and froze them, for just such an occasion! LOL! I just got lucky!

Better get this dress hemmed, she leaves Wednesday- nothing like a close deadline!

Good to see you Becca!

Hugs,
Jana

Good Evening,

This evening we had Fast Hash, Salad and Green Peas. Today I had a doctor's appointment. It always seems to take up most of the day. I did get some quilting done. My HQ Sweet 16 is running so nice! I will enjoy quilting much more now.

Maryz - I like the quilt! You did a great job.

Becca - Good to see that you are on the road to recovery. Hope you are feeling better every day.

Tina - WooHoo! Almost finished with the painting! Hope you had some sewing time today.

Mary/Rosebud - Hope the ice and Ibuprofen helped and your knee is feeling much better.

Lori - I want to watch that video.

Jana - Glad you straightened out package with Amazon. Hopefully the replacement will not take a detour.

Hope everyone has a nice evening.
Carol
