SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Feb 17

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Feb 17, 2022 4:48 am

Good morning,

39* here but dry. It will be a chilly walk this morning but that might move our feet faster. Though to be honest, our feet go no faster than Duchess, my walking buddy's dog, sniffs. She's a white German shepherd and she sniffs EVERYTHING. Even Scottie just stands patiently and waits for her to gather all her pee-mail. So Scott & I don't walk for the exercise so much as just to get outside and visit with Lori & Duchess. LOL.

One more thing about Bill's past being connected to mine: His former in-laws were next door neighbors to my brother, Albert, and they all lived about 70 miles from here near Mt. Rainier. Albert was like their honorary son-in-law and looked after them, did things for them, for many years. Bill doesn't remember ever actually meeting Al, but he could have . . . Plus, my dad had a tree farm after he retired from logging. Bill bought his Christmas trees from Daddy for several years.

No quilting work on LOTR yesterday. Bill took the hitch out of the truck and went for a load of firewood and to fill propane tanks yesterday. Then I got to help unload and stack wood. So not a lot of sewing for anybody! Maybe today.

TINA - Don't you just love it when they have a big, long, outdoor project to keep them busy and out of your hair? lol! I really love my husband, but sometimes I just like having some time alone. lol! Gives us something to talk about when we're together again.

BECCA - I hope you have a day free of dizzy spells. A very good excuse to lay low and read a good book. Have you talked to your doctor about these dizzy spells? If not, it might be a good idea. Glad you have those grab bars. I've often wished we had some - when I've had surgery in the past and also when we've had injured friends and family use our walk in shower occasionally over the years. But we have nothing to anchor them to in either of our bathrooms.

CAROL - How many folks are in your guild? Are people nominated for office and then elections held, or do people volunteer? What if no one comes forward? See? I'm a pre-worrier. Most of what I worry about never happens so I know worrying works.

I think tonite I'll make a one pot meal - sweet potato, apple, onion, keilbasa slices all saute'd together. It's better cooked outside in Bill's big cast iron skillet, but we'll make do. Salad or veggies on the side.

What's on your menu tonite?

Good morning 😊
Mary, yes I do love it when he has something to do..... when he's inside and not doing anything he mostly sleeps which really gets on my nerves because there's always something to be done in the house cleaning wise if not repair wise.
Becca, what has your dr said?
We're battening down the hatches again today, it's gonna be a major bad hair day and a major bad breathing day. The winds yesterday actually moved our carport! I'll be calling them in awhile to let them know. It's made out of huge I beams but not yet cemented in, I hope they can fix it. The state inspector just inspected it Tuesday evening and gave the go ahead for the cement.
I didn't get my chicken enchiladas made yesterday so we're having that tonight.

Good morning from a very, dreary, rainy but not cold, SW. Pa.....Yesterday it was 70, light sweater day but today is sweat shirt and rain coat kind of day......

Mary, It seems like you and Bill were meant to be together even if it didn't happen way back when....It's interesting reading the past.....I'm also thinking about having grab bars put in my bathrooms....I love to take a bath and getting out of the tub is one big accomplishment, getting harder and harder....But, I never wanted to "mess" up the walls with a bar, lol.....

Yesterday I ran all day, from 1 store to another....Around here, cat food is very scarce and now my sister even has me looking for food for her Daisy Mae....I did tell her, it's time for a Chewy.com order...Talked to Kathy last night for over an hour...She said, she's resting up for the big "wedding day" next Tuesday...I think she said, they have over 500 weddings scheduled which means all the ministers are working.....
Today is bingo day and then dinner out...So, won't be getting much accomplished today...Those boxes are still sitting in the corner and Baby Girl is loving it.......

Need to scoot, bingo taxi will be beeping soon....I swear, my sister lets nothing come in the way of bingo or card playing, lol.....The fellows should be marking her lot for her new house in the next day or so....I did tell her, I was camping in one of her windows when they do bring it...I'm not missing a minute!

You all have a great rest of the day......

Happy eating.....................

Good morning!

Beautiful white puffy clouds, blue sky and fresh snow on my mountains. A little sprinkling of snow on the ground here at my house. Good day for a soup for dinner. I have white banned fixings or broccoli cheese. I will see my mood later today.

My handyman is done, so I am now gathering up my next project for him. My bathroom vanities are the junk cabinets the builder put in and I knew that they would be replaced. So I will find a piece of fabric that I really really love, pull my colors for paint and curtains from that. Then find the vanity and top. A new faucet too. Get my design board put together and present it to the keeper of the budget. If I behave and don't get too extravagant, it will be easier to get approval. But there is the big project of the new door first, so I have lots of time.

Today is my Gracie's and Baden's birthdays. Gracie is 7 and Baden is 6. They are each having friends parties. Grac is all girls and Ethan is slightly upset that he isn't invited to Gracie's. Those two are best buds.

Not much else here,
Hugs,
Jana

Hi everyone! It's lunchtime here. We ate up leftovers. Tonight we are doing pizza.
Someone asked what I and sewing
First of all, yesterday I measured and cut older sheets into backing size for mission quilts. One had to be pieced, using parts from the others. That way I got 4 backs done and ready.
Then I had three older slacks that I wanted to shorten into Capri and Bermuda shorts lengths. So today I am getting into staging another lap quilt. Planning and organizing takes a lot of time and thinking and planning.
Nasty weather here in Illinois. Staying inside for sure.
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Maryz - There are approximately 150 people in our Guild. We create a nominating committee in March and they identify individuals to ask to fill positions, sometimes people volunteer and the current officers who have termed out many times change positions. Elections are held in May and announced in June. We are having Board members talk about their position at our Guild meetings. This month I spoke, as well as the Vice President and the Treasurer. Keep up the good thoughts, we need them.

Becca - Good for you, sounds like you are on top of your health issues.

Jana - Happy Birthday to Gracie and Baden! Maybe have a special celebration for Ethan, Gracie and Baden?

Tina - I agree, we all need our quiet time without our beloved! Glad Frankie has something to keep him busy.

Vel - I really wish some of the rain falling would be sent to the west coast! It rained Tuesday night for about five minutes. Not enough to even rinse off the dust from the car! Hope you enjoy sewing something!

Dinner tonight will be Parmesan Chicken.

Carol
