SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Feb 10

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Feb 10, 2022 6:32 am

Good morning,

we're 43* this morning, but when I opened the slider door to turn on deck lights it felt colder. Brrr... But the afternoons for the next few days should be mid-50's. Yesterday turned into errand day with Bill. We've been doing a lot of errands lately, it seems. I didn't spend much time at all in my sewing room, and come 2:30, Foxy and I sat down with a cup of lemon ginger tea and my book, snuggled under my Gypsy Dancer quilt. Not sure what today holds for me. Some house uglies for sure. some sewing room time, and we'll see what other trouble I can find to get into.

CAROL - looks like in some ways we are leading parallel lives - electrical panel, outlets, garage workbench. Bill was cleaning his workbench yesterday, too, until it got too cold out there so he came in and built a fire. Lots of quilts in your life this week! I wish we had quilt shows here but everything is so far away from us. And the only guild here is a craft guild. I tried them once for a few months. Not a very friendly group and they eventually broke up.

BECCA - have you heard yet how Brodee's EEG turned out? You mentioned stripping beds. Made me realize it's time to do ours, so I think that's on my to-do list for today.

TINA - did you get any more house painting done? Of course, NG would mean National Guard! Duh! In my happy village wall hanging, you place all the pieces of fabric to make the picture, a few dabs of fabric glue here and there, then carefully lay a piece of tulle over the top, baste or pin it in place and then top stitch all the pieces through the tulle. The tulle is actually invisible on the finished project, but the color you use does cast a sense of time of day - daylight, sunset, night time, etc. The pattern says you can make this project in a day. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!

JANA - I hope the O2 company comes soon for that gear. What a headache to live around it. Sad about the bus crash. We had a school bus accident here, too. The bus rear ended an Asplund tree trimming truck, trapping a worker between the vehicles. Only 3 kids on the bus at the time. We think the bus driver had a medical incident, but we're not sure. I guess Michael influenced Bill because Bill spent part of yesterday afternoon cleaning his garage workbench! Chriss said Jerry did, too.

VELDA - Nice to be able to go dancing again tonite. Not to put a damper on it, but we're pretty sure that's where Bill picked up his Covid. The table behind us at the second dance we went to in Texas was right next to ours and it was crowded. And the folks there kept bumping us, and breathing over us as they stood to go out onto the floor. It's the only place we went where there were other people during the week before he got sick. I was surprised that the tables weren't separated by more space.

LORI - I'm glad knitting is coming easier to you. I'm not sure just why I'm not getting it but maybe I don't care enough. I already do five other kinds of hand work so I really don't have time to pick up another one. lol!

Last night I made 8-can chicken taco soup in the crockpot. and I threw in a cup of orzo the last half hour of cooking. It was so good, but so filling. I'm still full! and there's plenty to have for tonight's supper, too. any leftovers after that, I'll freeze.

What's in your soup pot for tonite?

Good morning everybody!
I think we're supposed to have a nice day....a nice day = a painting day! 🎉
Mary, LOL maybe they say "a day" but really mean 24 actual hours 🤣😂. I was wondering if the tulle would look weird on there, like take away from the quilt. I'm really interested in seeing it! I don't know if I'd be able to make one but the process sounds really intriguing!
So you're getting flowers huh LOL did you say anything after the call or did he? I love flowers but hardly ever get any...... I've asked.... then was told, why would you want flowers, you grow your own 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤪
Frankie has been cleaning in his garage a little too, I guess the planets must've aligned just right! 🤣😂 it's gone global!
Today will be giving Duncan a haircut, he's gotten a little shaggy, the boys said he looks older LOL I think it's because his hair has grown out and it changes how his face looks.
I'm hoping to sew a little this morning while it's still cold, they'll be a little uglies, a little painting, picking up the kids from school and cooking supper today.
I'm thinking Orange Chicken and rice for supper.

Mary, I wanted to knit so I can make some shawls to wear. It's for a practical reason. I also embroider, cross stitch, needlepoint, sew clothing, quilt, crewel...what's one more thing. lol

Carol, I called my quilt friends and there will be 4 of us coming to the show on Sunday. It will be a fun day. We'll probably get there between 12-1230. Looking forward to it.

Took Jack to the vet yesterday. He has an ear infection. He hates me to put meds in, but it has to be done. I also have to clean them everyday. He seems fine though. When I say take mama for a walk, he jumps around like a happy dog.

I'm going to put the elephant blocks together today. I need to cut some fabric for the border as well. One more thing off my list for the year. You all keep cleaning and organizing. I'll catch up later.

Dinner will be orange chicken and rice.

Lori,
I am looking forward to seeing you, but need to tell you something. If you have visited the SouthBayQuilters.org site you will see the City of Torrance is requiring everyone to sign a waiver and show either proof of vaccination or a test. My recommendation is to print and sign the waiver before you arrive, however forms will be available. Please do come and bring friends!

Good afternoon!

Oh the scheming going on at my house! I made the passing comment that I want a Cricket to cut out appliques for my embroidery machine. Of course, Sarah was here and knows what I want, so she and Michael are off to Michael's and I will get one for my BD this weekend. Then we all started scheming on Sandee. Her 50th BD is March 23rd, so Crenda, Kate, Sarah and I are planning a surprise party at my house, catered, totally gluten free to celebrate. Scott is in on the planning as well. We will invite Sandee's siblings down too. They live up north in Layton. We have a contact that will come out in the middle of the night and decorate her yard, black balloons, etc. We have so much fun scheming in this family. Aaron has a good friend that caters BBQ - that friend has won many BBQ contests and is teaching Aaron that art.

Sarah went to Costco and ordered the BD cake for Sunday and put some snarky phrase on it and won't tell me! That child! Crenda is picking up the cake, so I won't see it until the party.

Then Aaron was here, scheming with Daniel that Michael and I need to buy the horse property behind my house, so Daniel can build his house there and Sarah can farm part of it too. What, these kids think we are made of money? Or have a underground pipeline into Fort
Knox? Or a really good printing press in the Batt Cave? LOL! My answer was, Daniel, go buy the winning lottery ticket! The property is about 1.5 acres and land is going for outrageous amounts!
Oh, I can se all the fun - read trouble - if and when Daniel moves here!

Dinner tonight is chicken enchiritos. Quick and easy with rotisserie chicken. I picked up the chicken while we were at Costco this morning. The shopping fairies behaved and didn't add things to my cart. Michael bought me flowers, which was the whole reason for the trip.

Mary - I have seen design walls on roller shades, that have been lined with flannel. I also have a real live, full size , commercial quality, projector screen. It hangs from the ceiling , about 6 ft wide and 8 ft long. It came with Michael as part of the package when I married him, 46+ years ago. We have the slide projector too. Michael was a avid photographer, trains and landscapes, in those days. People in pictures, no way, very few of the kids when they were little.

Tina - hope the painting goes quickly and the wind doesn't blow.

Lori - enjoy the quilt show with Carol. Hope all works out.

Becca - good news about Brodee. I like quick short trips in and out of stores.

Carol - how much longer is your term as president of your guildL. Here the terms see to be about 2 years.

Well, time to get flowers in a vase, and rustle up something to eat. Aaron raided my chocolate chips to make Kate cookies, and now I want a cookie!

Stay safe, warm, and behave, I sure am not,
Jana

Carol, unfortunately I wouldn't sign a 4 page document to attend a quilt show as a paying guest.
