Supper Club. Fri Jan 28
Good morning
Here we are in Bakersfield, and Carol, you are correct – this is where we park in the middle of a huge Orange Grove. I think they took out every other row of trees and put in RV parking. Probably making more money off the RVs than they ever did off the oranges. And the campers pick all the oranges. It’s an inspired business endeavor! We will pick a bag of oranges later this morning.
So you all are wondering about Philip, eh? Lol! I could spin you a pretty fun story but it’s too early to think one up. Remember, when I travel I have to use my phone to post. I dictate into my phone. No way I’m typing these fascinating missives on this tiny keyboard with one finger. And at the last minute, sometimes this phone will change my words so it took Bill and turned him into my prince. Hence, Philip. Lol!
We are staying here another night so we unhitched the truck and we’ll go into town today. We are going to look for a Costco, get fuel, and if we stumble on a Quilt Shop we might pull in there too just because it would seem wrong not to. Tomorrow morning we will start our final run for home-1050 miles.
Irish, so sorry to hear about your beloved BFF. You have a lot of fun memories of your years together. When are you leaving for Florida? And will you be seeing her?
Tina, oh dear! So sorry Covid has hit your family again! I hope Jaz has a very light case. Does she know where she picked it up? Seems like it would be smart to shut the school down for a few weeks
Velda, how did you choose the size for your lap quilts? Did you sit in an easy chair and “try on” different sizes until you found what fit the best? I worked in a nursing home for two years. These little quilts would be awesome.
Becca, did you get snow? And how do you make your veggie beef soup. I usually only make it when I have leftover roast. I chop it up, add broth, leftover gravy, and all the veggies and diced potatoes. Put it all in the crockpot and let it “stew” all day.
Jana, How is Aaron’s new job going? Did you go shopping yet for your new red backing? I can’t wait to hear if Daniel is moving. Where are Keri’s family?
We have the last half of our package of orange chicken in the freezer and also leftover cooked rice. So I think that’s what we’ll be having tonight. And I have things to make a salad as well.
Got your supper figured out yet?

Good morning!
Got Gracie off to school on time and my Lila fed. I made her buttermilk pancakes in the shape of Mickey Mouse. It's a tradition here between me and the grands. I pick up Gracie at 1 pm and she will help make mac and cheese for our lunch. Lila is playing with the toys and later a Disney princess movie.
Pantry is a work still. Michael is organizing all the light bulb stash he has. It's almost as much as I have fabric! LOL! A favorite aisle in any hardware store is the light bulbs! I even bought him a new fangled led light fixture for his garage for Christmas.
Dinner - plans are for a soup - maybe banned white chowder or one I have in the freezer. I love corn chowder and that may appear. It is so soup weather here! We are cold and won't get above freezing this week!
Mary - there is a Costco in Bakersfield. We filled up there on our trips to San Diego. I know there are quilt shops too. I have a friend who learned to quilt and lives in Bakersfield. Why Bakersfield to live in, I have no idea, but that's where they retired too. Too dry and hot for me! And I chose the desert! LOL! Roseville has quilt shops, but Roseville is on the wrong freeway from I-5.
Becca - Michael is getting shaggy too. I need to cut his hair too. But with little girls around , no way am I letting them see me cut hair. Lila already has gotten a pair of scissors and cut a chunk out of her hair near the front. All scissors are now hidden in all houses!
Well, time to get this pantry project going and done!
Do something fun!
Hugs,
Jana

Merry there's a couple of good quilt shops and bakersfield. I have a friend that goes out there every month and she brag about how great they are. Hope you're not doing that long leg of trouble on 1 day. Funny about bill turning into veil Oh Mind turned in the mail And now mail Funny funny funny.
Becca, I'm on my kindle now And it's doing a fairly good job At my narration. I Dislike Using my phone to type
The narration likes to do it something apparently OCIT said something instead of on thing oh it's just going off on it's on here.

Yes, that makes no sense. That's why I don't use the voice to text.
I'm making cute little heart mug rugs for my friendship group. So that's what I will work on today.
Dinner with be leftover chicken noodle soup and bread.
Have a lovely day.

Hi everyone. I am on lunch break. Planning something with chicken for supper. Not sure exactly. We haven't had salad for awhile, so that will be added, too.
Made a orange Jello salad for a funeral dinner at the church. Had some ingredients leftover, so I made up another jello salad with strawberry/banana flavor. We will have that too.
First off: I didn't pick the size for the lap quilts. The first one was made by another lady, so we are using her size (about 37 x 48) to pattern after, but not being exact. I forgot what size the one I made ended up.
I have been asked to make another using the missionary donated fabric. I did some planning on that today. I really need to get two mission quilts hemmed today. Then I can work on ties while watching TV.
That's all I know today.
Maryz, I bet you are anxious now to finish your trip and get settled in at home. Also the fur babies will be glad, too. Our pets always loved the vacation, but once we got home, they were going all around the house, making sure it was all squared away. It was always funny to watch them. Like, "oh, there's my favorite toy!". Or: " Oh, I really missed my favorite chair" You could almost read their thoughts.

Good morning all!
I make my veggie soup with either raw stew meat or some little tiny cuts of beef that I don't recall what they're called....I use that same little cuts for my carne asada tacos. I add a chopped onion, minced garlic, a can of corn not drained, a can of diced carrots or I dice fresh carrots, a can of drained green beans, a can of diced tomatoes, chopped cabbage, 2 or 3 diced potatoes, beef bullion, Worcestershire sauce and water, simmer for at least 5 hours. I think that's all. The kids love it! We do too
Mary, no Jazmyne doesn't know where she got it at but she did have a teacher really sick Monday and Tuesday. I think they should close the schools down here too, it's beyond crazy.
Becca, pizza sounds yummilicious, I hope CA is tempted ❤
Jana, Preston's favorite breakfast is pancakes and sausage links, he could've used your breakfast this morning ❤ Oh those scissors and little girls hair, do you remember 10 years ago when Jazmyne cut all her off to make a nest for the birds?! I do, still makes me wanna cry!
Lori, LOL if that's how your dictation goes I understand why you don't use it LOL
Did you check out the February lotto? It's Valentine's hearts! Right in line with what you're making
just a helpful thought
Velda, I must be a fur baby, that's what I do when I get home! I want to kiss my home! LOL
Well since it's just us and I had food thawing I'll be going back and forth this week and maybe freezing already cooked foods. Tonight I'm making chicken alfredo since I had the chicken in the fridge thawing.

I have many of Eleanor's pattern books. If someone can help, I am looking for the Log Cabin Pattern. I have made this pattern numerous times but it has been a while. Rather than going through all those pattern books does any one know which book (as we used to say, "Off the top of their heads") contains this pattern, I would really appreciate the information.
Thank you in advance.

Karen - Fabulous Forties has the log cabin block and shows how to use the log cabin ruler which makes it much easier. There is also a book called Log Cabin and Underground Railroad has the log cabin block.
I am taking advantage of "resting" by quilting. I am taking breaks, but really making progress on getting this quilt finished. The quilt show is on the 12th and 13th of February.
Dinner tonight will be mac and cheese.
