Supper Club - Christmas Eve
Merry Christmas Eve!!
Are you ready? Autumn and Aaron are coming for brunch this morning. But it's pretty windy outside. I hope it dies down before they get here. Quilting class yesterday was cancelled. Sammy has been out and about too much and works in fast food with other teenagers. A & A are extremely careful about possible Covid exposure. They both work with medically compromised people plus they have their own issues. So they cancelled Sammy Day and took her a home Covid test. Anyway, we were waived off. So we went and got tested, too, at a testing site only a mile from our RV park. Like everywhere else, Covid count is rising exponentially here but we're very careful. In last eight days have only been to grocery store (with masks on). And hardly any place else before that.
Also because of Covid, my Alaskan brother isn't attending any of his family's holiday gatherings. He doesn't want to risk infection either because of his wife with Alz who is in a facility now. So he went by his DD's house in FBX yesterday and she gave him his quilt to open. She said he loved it, especially the northern lights fabric I used in the border and on the pillowcases. She said she'd take lots of pictures of him opening it, but decided to take a video instead. Now she can't send the video! Sigh. My resident electronic guru is trying to help her by setting up a drop box. But that still means I have no photo to share with you. But Gene sent a thank you (to Bill!) and said he's send a photo today after he put it on his bed.
CAROL - congratulations on your quilt!! quite an accomplishment! I think you shared a photo of it over in PHOTOS a month or two ago didn't you? I tried to Google it with info you gave yesterday but couldn't find anything.
BECCA - I bought my house in 1986, a year after my first husband was killed (4 hours after we sold our first home). Almost 36 yrs ago. Bill didn't come along for six more years. Tina texted me all the things she was baking over last two days and I swear I gained 3 pounds just reading about all of it. But it inspired me to bake a loaf of pumpkin cranberry bread - the extent of my holiday baking. It smelled so good in here!
LORI - We love Snickerdoodles. IN fact, that as our last sheltie's name - Snickerdoodle or Snickers. The best dog EVER! However, I digress. Now gingersnaps we aren't crazy about at all, yet everyone else seems to like them.
JANA - how did Baking With Emma go? How old is she now? 6-ish? Sorry about cooking being "off your plate" lately. I think we all go through spells like that. I've never liked self-rising flour.
I'm sure we'll be hungry again by suppertime and we have some leftovers from last night so we will be having diced pork chop in gravy over dressing, plus a salad. I miss a big Christmas Eve supper with lots of family, but the trade-off is I'm not cooking a big Christmas Eve supper (or cleaning up after!).
How are plans coming at your house?

Re: Supper Club - Christmas Eve
Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve to you all!
I'll be baking pies today and making green beans, mashed potatoes, frog eye salad and Watergate salad for tomorrow so I don't have to cook it all in 1 day. I do the same at Thanksgiving so it's easier on me.
I didn't get my pecan tarts done yesterday so I'll do those too today.
Mary, sorry the lesson was canceled but better safe right now for sure. I hope Bill gets the video figured out! Some phones allow you to take pics inside videos, if Bill gets the video maybe he can research how to do that, there's probably an app for that.
Carol, your quilt is amazing!
Jana, I don't think I've ever used that flour, I'll make a mental note not to. Sorry your cooking is off lately.
Becca, you've been busy baking too I see. Your breads sound so yummy!
Lori, I've never had snickerdoodles or gingersnaps (I might've had one of these because some kind of cookie about killed me a few years ago LOL) .... ginger in cookies gives me horrible heartburn.
Well looks like I'm off for the big Christmas Eve dinner, Holly and the kids will be at her mother in laws, they traded off that so they can be here all day tomorrow and I'm good with that! Kevin and Maria always spend Christmas Eve at her parents house because they've always done the opening on Christmas Eve and then they come here and spend the night and we have our Christmas with them too. My little brother and his fiance will be here Christmas instead of Christmas Eve so no need to cook a big bunch of food. Dad wil be here because it's his night to eat here. I think I'll do the kielbasa and potatoes or sauerkraut, just simple 1 pan meal. Easy cleanup too.

Merry Christmas Eve,
I am not sure why you haven't been able to locate the picture, but below are some more recent pictures which include the quilting. I quilted it myself on my Sweet 16. The story and picture is under Swaps, Fabulous Forty 2018 and is on page 8. (I had to look for August.)
Jana - I knew you would remember the quilt. Thanks!
Tina - You found it. Thanks for the compliments. You baked a lot! I am not making a pie. We have plenty of sweets plus ice cream.
Becca - I need to make my cranberries.
Enjoy the pictures.
Carol
After a couple of edits I think I got it! (Thank you, Velda, for the great instructions!)

Very nice, much different lay out. Love it.
I don't know why we can't see the pictures under the other thread either but I went page by page.

Re: Supper Club - Christmas Eve
Well my best laid plans ..... Ethan wanted to come over. He is scheming on his Mom. We do a small gift for Christmas eve opening, we call Christmas Pie. You get just one, a game or toy, etc. Ethan got to pick out his mom's gift this year - a cast iron pie dish. So he wanted to give her a real pie, he made as well. So we used pie plate of mine and he made , from scratch, a lemon meringue pie. He even made the crust. I helped rolling it out and getting in the pie dish, but he did the rest. So he is hiding this surprise in my Highlander until it time to open the Christmas Pie gifts.
Now I am relaxing in my chair. Still have a couple presents to wrap, but they will wait, this was more important.
Merry Christmas!
Hugs,
Jana

Awwwww that's a great story Jana ❤
I took pics of what we made and then labelled what it all is. It has a limit of how many things I can label so I had to label different things on the same picture. Just thought I'd show you what we made.
Merry Christmas!
