SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Dec 22nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Dec 22, 2021 4:29 am

Good morning,

Our weather is warming up this week and we're to be mid to upper 80's for Christmas. Last year was really chilly our entire time here so I packed expecting the same this year but so far we've had more warm/hot days than cold. Bill says we may have to go out and look for more shorts! My husband, a man, suggested we go clothes shopping. and last week he suggested we go thrift shopping. You think he might be bored?

Yesterday I was busy at my machine and should finish up my current project today with a little time left over to sew a few of my 4" stars. I even got in a little outside sitting time, working on my counted cross stitch yesterday. What I did was a stitch off so today, I'll be un-stitching it. Sigh. Since I'm just starting this new project, I don't want to have to fight that one off-stitch the entire way, so I'll take care of it now.

BECCA - sounds like you may have a little chef in the making in your family! Also, your DGD will have her pick of jobs! Seems more like she's interviewing the schools rather than the other way around. Good luck to them both!

CAROL - I finished a Joanne Fluke mystery yesterday. It was baking-themed and in one scene one group wanted choc chop cookies and one wanted oatmeal so the baker combined and made chocolate oatmeal cookies and everyone was happy. I only say this because yesterday you were taking about making both kinds but also mentioned your plethora of sweets in the house. :D I don't bake much for Christmas anymore. It's just Bill and me and much as we love the baked goodies, neither of us need them. I hope your sister heals quickly! I'm sure she was very grateful for the help you gave her the other day. A housekeeper, even if for only one good cleaning, would be a godsend to her, I think. How far does she live from you? Does she have any help at all?

VELDA - when I quilted my DP, I did an elongated loop in each petal, small stippling in the center circles, and meander in the white background. I was pleased with how it turned out. However, it might be hard to do on a regular machine. How big a throat do you have on your machine? thanks for the recipe in yesterday's sew-in!

LORI - I like pickled beets OK, but not regular beets. My brother, Jim, HATED beets! He found a can in their cupboard once and he opened the back door and flung that can of beets as far into the woods as he could! His wife never bought them again. Not sure what she was thinking . . . I have yet to enjoy cooked zucchini, but I try it every chance I get, hoping it gets better.

JANA - congratulations to Aaron! I think a surprise party would be so much fun for him! He's worked hard. and all while working full time and raising his family. That's how I did college and nursing school, too, and it sure ain't easy!! Kudos to him!

We had lasagna last night and half of it is still left over so that's on tonite's menu again.

How's your menu looking?

Good afternoon!

It's been a good day here! Almost finished with the tote. Aaron got the call back from Herriman and he meets with the Police Chief next Wednesday for the interview. The Chief is the only one that can do the actual hiring, so we will know after that interview. Aaron is pretty sure all will go well. As soon as the papers and offer is signed , he will give his current team the 2 week notice.

Emma will be here tomorrow afternoon to make cookies with Grandma. We will have lots of fun. And a mess too!

Aaron is assembling the bunk beds for the girls - the girls are at Sarah's playing today. Aaron is on duty on Christmas, so things get rearranged slightly. He grew up with Michael sometimes having to work on Christmas too. Usually Michael traded days to be off Christmas and gave up NewYear's - the other guys wanted to go out on New Years and we didn't. So we are adept at rearranging.

Dinner - didn't go out last night, I just fixed some eggs and hashbrowns. If we can figure out where the car wants to go, we will do that for dinner.

I found a new recipe for southern style biscuits. they looked very yummy and had cinnamon sugar and a cinnamon butter on them. I have all the ingredients out warming to room temp to play with the recipe in a few minutes.

Better get this tote done! I have stalled around long enough

Hugs,
Jana

Jana, how fun for you to make cookies with your granddaughter. Special memories being made I'm sure. Congratulations to Aaron.

Tina, woohoo! now you only have a few days to wait for opening.

Becca, we're supposed to get rain tomorrow. We need it here.

Mary, we were warm last year for Christmas. This year it's supposed to be cold and rainy. Very unusual for us. I like it.

I made double batch of peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies today. I packed them up and took them to the neighbors. I made cute merry Christmas cutouts with my Cricut for the bags. It's such a fun machine.

We had tacos for dinner.

Have a lovely sleep.

Maryz - You are right, we have too many sweets on hand. In my defense we do share with neighbor and my sister. The recipe I used to make Chocolate Chip Cookies this year used Oatmeal that was ground to a flour with a chocolate bar. I think they are too dry, but they taste good. The Oatmeal I make have cinnamon and nutmeg and was my Mom's recipe. They are my absolute favorite. I have hidden the candy and frozen the cookies, so we will not eat all of it at once!

Jana - Congratulations to Aaron! Getting a degree takes perseverance any time so Congratulations!
It is good to be you (and Tina) getting to make cookies with Grands! Hope you enjoyed the day.

Tina - Good to be you making cookies with Grands! Hope you too enjoyed your day and are now resting.

Becca - I got out early for my walk too! Glad you get out, it is important. You have lots of sweets for your family to enjoy. They bring goodies all year, now you can share yours. I love fruitcake, so I am cheering CA on for getting to enjoy one.

Vel - You certainly are enjoying your evenings! Going out to dinner saves cooking time and clean-up so do enjoy!

Lori - You share your cookies with style! You have an AccuQuilt and a Cricut ?

This afternoon I had a Zoom Sew-in. Only a few dropped in today, but Wednesday afternoons are my favorite. I ended up wrapping gifts and got them all wrapped. Then I sewed a label on a quilt.

Tomorrow morning I need to go to the grocery store for a few things. I would like to make a quiche. I like them but have never made one. Think I will have fun trying.

Tonight's dinner was Salad and Pasta with turkey sauce. I used large elbow macaroni which I found last week. My store still does not have Medium Shells.
