SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Aug 23
Good morning,
Chilly out! 53*! Our coolest morning in a long time. We may have passed the peak summer weather. Sure feels like fall out there. So we are sitting inside today, and looking outside. Of course, our fur-boys are right with us. The four of us are usually together in the same 9 square feet in this 2200 square foot house! lol! Last evening, we also came inside and Bill built a fire in the wood stove. It was 63* which is doable out on our deck with our patio warmer, but we were having 15mph winds. Ugh.
My peach pie turned out to be the best pie I've made in years. Bill had two pieces. My meatloaf also turned out, which kind of surprised me. For some reason, I just don't like my meatloaf. But this time I used a small can of Spicy Hot Veggie Juice, a dab of Dijon mustard, an egg, bread crumbs, salt, diced onion and green pepper, and Italian seasoning. I was experimenting. Success!
I did 4 loads of laundry and we worked in the yard a little - Bill more than I - and I spent most of the afternoon sewing. Today, will be more sewing. And maybe more yard work.
BECCA - I do think your house cleaner was meant to come help you out. You have a great family! And I hope CA is feeling up to a little celebration come Wed even if you have to bring the celebration to him - 65 years! You are amazing!
TINA - I bet your roses are going to be beautiful! I'm am a TERRIBLE rose mom. I have 4 rose bushes - 2 are climbers. But I just don't care for them like they want to be cared for. And we don't have a good place for roses, anyway. Glad you found your aunt! I was wondering if she'd gone to a rehab. That is great news! Hope your shoulder improves soon. In our house, it's Bill's job to do the vacuuming. He INSISTED we buy a Riccar vacuum, the heaviest vac in the history of vacuums! And in return for my agreeing to that, he said he would do all the vacuuming from then on because my back just can't do it. Well, he does vacuum, sort of. Usually only if I ask him to and then I'm "nagging". He rarely does it of his own volition. So, our house gets vac'd about once every two weeks. Sigh.
JANA - did I see you ordered Christmas Ribbons? Judi made that quilt last year and I have the pattern. We both saw it in Pinterest and fell in love with it. I think I must make too many quilts because I can't remember if I actually made it yet or if I am just planning to! lol! I'll have to ask Judi as I don't feel like going through all my stored quilts to look. As to providing info to our Boondockers, that's a great idea! We do that in our site on the Boondocker website. And we've talked about going to the GH Chamber of Commerce and seeing if they have town maps and more local info on paper to give out. We're still just feeling our way. Only been doing this since Wednesday! lol!
Tonite's supper is going to be leftover meatloaf. Not sure if I'll do a pasta dish or potatoes again with it. And maybe green beans or peas. I'm out of salad makings.
Have you got any ideas for your supper tonite?

Good morning!
Mary, so glad your meatloaf turned out yummy! My Dad asked me to make a peach pie, I'm afraid I'll have to use canned peaches because the few peaches were have left Preston has dibs on them..... that boy loves peaches!
I was relieved too that I found my aunt ❤
We're going to make a quick trip to Cruces and I get lunch at a restaurant out of the deal so I'm happy
The kids will be stopping by for snacks after school because Jazmyne rides the bus to here.
I'm not sure about supper.... if I was at Mary's house I'd have cold meatloaf sandwiches

Tina

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Aug 23
Good late morning from a partly sunny but warm, SW. Pa....I think we might have rain headed our way but then again, who knows, lol.....Was feeling yucky all day yesterday and today might be more of the same...Not sick but weird but good day to stay home and sew although I do have to run 2 streets away and take care of my friend's fur babies..She'll be gone until the 31st so I get lots of spoiling time.....
Mary, Mary, Mary! I finally picked up my mail and there was your card....What a card, I'm still laughing! But, thank you so much for thinking of me...You know I do save my "best" cards and can you imagine, after I'm died and gone and whoever cleans out the house, finds my stash of cards, what will they think????I just hope they, like me, will have some really good laughs...Even with my nasty tummy, you're meat loaf does sound yummy...And if by chance, I was in the neighborhood, I'd join Tina in that cold meat loaf sandwich...I might even bring you some of my home made relish to try...Is there any peach pie left????
Kathy has a big peach tree in her back yard and has canned lots and lots and last year, one of her trips home, one of her suitcases was filled with all kind of her goodies...You can't imagine how well she had everything wrapped and right in the middle was a quart of her peaches, wrapped, wrapped and then wrapped some more and inside a plastic bag....Of all the stuff, guess what cracked???And to top it off, the juice seeped out of the plastic bag and into the suitcase...I'm still in mourning over that jar of peaches......
Did talk to Kathy last night...Her oldest DD, Jackie and DH were in Portland for a wedding and vacation and Kathy and Tim met up with them in Utah and of course had a great time...Today is Tim's knee replacement.....Anxious to get it done and be on with their traveling.....
Tina, as Mary said, bet your roses are something special...I love, love roses but any more, I'm not a good rose mom....At our 1st house, we had 24 bushes and they were gorgeous...When we moved next door, I thought we should transplant some but Jim thought they would help sell the house. (I did bring a few) Then a young couple with 2 big dogs moved into the house and you can imagine what happened to my roses.....I really like the old fashion climbers that smell so good.....Hope you enjoyed your trip and lunch......
I had started this post a few hours ago and then my sister stopped by...She is helping a friend clear out her sister's house and DS thought I needed a new wardrobe....Clothes that were never worn, still with the tags and my size found their way to my house....The lady had been a cat lover and also dabbled in quilting so most of the shirts have cat/quilt pictures on them....It was like birthday and Christmas all in one this morning......
Now I really do need to go spoil a couple of cats and then get back to my sewing.......
As for my dinner, might be that cup of tea and some toast or maybe a poached egg....I'm to meet some gals for lunch tomorrow so I need to get over this "yuck"......
You all have a great rest of the day......
Happy eating..................

Good afternoon y'all!
Started this post earlier this morning and the Sarah came by - then the girl I did the sweatshirts for - then I got busy finishing my laundry for the week - and all the uglies are done too! All that is left is to put the chairs right side up from Yoohoodi vaccuuming.
With all the talk of meatloaf - that is what will appear on our plates tonight. I will so try to make just a small one, but we will see how that comes out. I have also wanted a baked potato and have fresh green beans. We will be eating very well!
Down here in the Batt Cave and Michael brought down my purse - it has my phone in it as well at the stuff I need to post to the Quicken - so I took that picture of the embroidered towels that I am doing for my neighbor Christmas gift this year. So as soon as my gmail gets the picture I will share it here - Just noticed that the santa hat above the first 'e' didn't show up to well, so that is what it is.

Hope that it worked.
Well, if I don't get that posting done, I will be in trouble - Michael has already seen that I ordered a new quilt pattern, and I did that not more than 5 minutes ago!
Hugs,
Jana

Peach pie sounds wonderful! I think I will buy enough peaches to freeze for Christmas.
Irish - Sorry you are not feeling well.
Becca - Hope your DH is feeling better. Sixty-five years is a long time! Congratulations!!
Jana - The embroidered towels are really pretty! Nice job!
Yesterday our Guild gave quilts to five veterans at the American Legion Hall. I spoke representing our Guild. Their stories are amazing. Our Guild was making quilts for Wounded Warriors and sending them to the hospital in Afghanistan. The hospital closed quite a few months ago and the lady who collects these quilts found this group and changed the size required to about a twin sized. Personally I have not made a quilt for this group, but went to the presentation as President of the Guild.
Tonight we are having Grilled chicken, but meatloaf really sounds good!!
