SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Jan 24

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jan 24, 2021 6:05 am

Good morning!

We are 39*. drizzly and going to stay that way all day long. An indoor kind of day! What to do? What to do? Oh, I know! I can sew! lol! Actually, I'll be quilting. I have "Spring" on the frame and about 1/3 quilted. Maybe I can finish it today. I put Norm & Nanette together yesterday so now that one's ready for quilting, too. It turned out cuter than I thought it would. To be honest, I only bought it because it looked like it would keep me busy for a while while in Texas. And it did.

TINA - happy birthday to Frankie! I'd rather have pie, too, than most cakes. But if it's white cake with chocolate frosting - outa my way! I'm going in! Yes, I have found flannel backs. I Googled flannel wide quilt backs and lots of options came up - Joann's, Etsy, Connecting Threads, and more. I remember when I first started using our long arm, my stitching went with me when I took a step. :D But it doesn't take long to get over that.

CHICKIE - glad you are getting your vaccines - and so soon! I wish we could find appts sooner than the ones we have, but at least we got on the books before the state's website crashed. What fun - new little babies! I keep waiting for news of one more - things do come in threes! From what you and others say, I don't think I'll ever try Minkee.

BECCA - cookies AND pumpkin pie? Oh, it's good to be your DH!! What kind of cookies? I've been thinking of making some chocolate chip/oatmeal/craisin/nut cookies but know I won't be able to keep my hands out of the cookie jar!

CHRISSY - Hi there! Great to see you!!

Our dinner last night was pretty good if I do say so myself. I made chicken with an artichoke/mushroom/sherry sauce and roasted the brussles sprouts with olive oil, S&P, and sparse sprinkling of cayenne. Yum! We also had a big salad. And there is enough of everything to do it all again tonight!

What's the supper story at your house?

Good morning!
Mary, your weather sounds perfect! What a great way to be able to stay in and quilt or sew and not feel guilty about not doing yardwork. LOL I've gotten over the feeling guilty part now that Frankie is retired, I'm bad LOL
We're supposed to have rain and winds for the next couple of days, I'm hoping the rains are a lot and the winds are a little 🤞
I'll Google and see if I have any luck with thre wide flannel backing, thank you 😊
Oh good, I was really wondering if there was a trick to the step stitching thing, guess just practice and time.
I'm hoping to finish up 2 UFO's today, these seem to be taking me longer than I figured to finish. One problem was binding fabric for one, I just wasn't happy with they way the ones I picked looked....2 hours later... or more! I went back into all my 30's fabrics and sorted which ones I actually have enough of for binding and went to the darker colors, that made the difference! I needed a dark color for the binding! That's first in order this morning!
I think I'll make a soup for supper since we're supposed to be cold 🥶, wet 🥳💦🌧💧🤞 and windy 😢

Hi there!

It is way late here in the Batt Cave. I got everything moved and put out of the way for the island work tomorrow morning. Even put away the serger and my sewing machine. Michael re-connected my computer, so I am able to use it now. It took some doing to get the wires under control. We will be getting a wireless keyboard and trackball for my desk here. Michael got a wireless trackball for Christmas. but I could not talk him to letting me have it. Oh well, Amazon is quick! We need a new camera for the Zoom class I teach - Sarah needed to take hers, that I was using here.

Built the last two IKEA cabinets that are needed for the island and all their drawers. Then stacked them neatly out of the way. I told you that I have a organizing streak in me! LOL!

Stu dodged a big problem! The kid he has been living with at the currrent place, was going to move with him into a new apartment. Stu sat down with the kid and went over the finances to make sure that there was plenty of wiggle room in the budget with the new apartment. Well, the kid has not been paying bills and student loans, etc, and didn't have enough to swing his share of the new apartment. Thank goodness Stu did all this before they signed the lease! So a long story, shortened version, Stu will be moving in with the other married roomates he was sharing the house with - they really like Stu, but not the other kid. It is a much longer commute for Stu, so he is looking in to transferring to the Amazon facility about 2 miles from where he will be living now. If he can't transfer, he will move back to Sarah's for a time. This time he saw all the red flags and paid attention. Stu's girl friend, that he was dating, broke up with him as well. That is a good thing too, as she had a ton of emotional baggage that Stu didn't need to deal with. That is Grandma putting in her two cents worth. He will find someone - someday!

So that is my day - time to turn in and start all over tomorrow - since this is the Batt Cave - I could say, same Batt time, same Batt channel, just like the old TV show!

Stay Safe
Hugs,
Jana
