Supper club. Sat, Dec 19

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Dec 19, 2020 4:17 am

Good morning!

We have 59’ and light rain this morning. And Bill and Scottie saw lightening on their morning constitutional. But sun coming out this afternoon so it should be an OK day. If it’s not, then it will be a movie and sewing day which is still OK.

Speaking of sewing, I finished my village quilt top. It’s all together and I tried to post a picture but my little phone is not cooperating this morning. I will try again tomorrow. But y’all saw the picture of the pattern a few days ago so it looks like that. Then I got out my norm and Nanette pattern by Elizabeth Hartman and realized I never bought the background fabric for it. Back to the Quilt Shop we went. I asked the young man there to cut me 4 1/2 yards. Later that afternoon when I got it out of the bag it didn’t seem like 4 1/2 yards so I opened it up and measured. 3 1/2! So I called the shop and he said he would cut me another yard and leave it by the register. I have to say he did ask if I needed it all in one piece and if so Would cut me an entire new length of fabric. I said no but I asked him for four extra inches so I could make sure I could cut all the pieces I needed. He gave me one and a half yards more fabric. So it all was good and the lqs is only 3 miles from our RV park so it wasn’t too big of a deal

Today, I might put my sister to work ironing all of the scraps I plan to use for the gnomes while I cut fabric. She loves to iron and is doing much better, both shoulder and knee.

Tina, husky puppies!?! Oh, I love huskies! I think he would have patched that hole, making sure the entire husky family was on the inside! 😁. But you left off the end of the story! What did you do? Do you now have five more dogs?

Jana, how did Stu’s sewing project turn out? And the tamales? And the little dress?

Becca, so sorry about your back. Did you do something to injure it or is this just how it is sometimes?

Tonight we are going to have grilled Yankee dip sandwiches And salad. The skies are supposed to clear this afternoon and be 64° so we should be able to grill and possibly even eat outside if it’s not too windy.

How is your menu going to read?

Hi Mary and all who follow, So happy you can be with your daughter during this holiday season. It is 42 here, a wee bit chilly for AZ. You are a very busy lady these days but aren't you always.

I will be here at noon today to join the prayer group. So much pain and hurting both on here and out in the crazy world around us.

Adding Prayers of Thanks as well as other prayers for my DH. Rod had lots of tests run in the past few wks and some of our prayers are already answered. So thank you for your prayers this past week. Oh, and our son in law tested negative for covid for thankful for that too.

Rod had his mammogram and ultra sound for possible breast cancer but Dr said negative. Can't see anything on either test. So think it may just be a pulled muscle in that area. Big relief to hear that news.

He saw the spine/back surgeon on thur. Both good and bad news there. Good news, it is not his back, no surgery needed. Bad news, it is his hip area, sacroililitis or something like that. They are talking about doing injections to try to stop the pain. Hope they can find an answer to his pain soon.

I was up with him very early this am. He is in so much pain, he was in tears and he has a high tolerance for pain. He just says somedays he just wants to die. Please keep him in your prayers. Drs wont' give out RX for pain medication anymore at all thru the VA. I don't know what to do for him anymore, nothing seems to ease the pain much at all.

Prayers for all the requests on here and all the unspoken ones too. May God bless each and every one of you today and all thru the holiday season too. Thank you Chris for posting prayer requests time.

WE do have 2 new kittens at our house so that keeps me busy too. They are now 8 months old, were 6 months when we got them. Wanted one, 4 paws would not adopt out one alone. These two are brothers from a large litter. They were so closely bonded, shelter was afraid one would not adjust alone so made us a good deal, almost 2 for 1, what a bargain. LOL Said one of them was so "bashful" didn't think he would adjust for awhile anyway. Boy were they wrong. The lady was shocked when the bashful one crawled up into Rod's lap and curled up and started purring. We are still looking for the bashful part.

Their names are Daytona and Patches. Daytona might as well be a Nascar driver, zips around our house like a race car. Patches is a little more layed back but they do get wound up every now and then. Already weigh over 7 lbs each so going to be big kitties. Orange tabbies, very pretty, lovable, funny, cute, and always into trouble.

Like having a pair of 2 yr old twins in the house. And they love carrying things around like a dog. Steal things like rolls of toilet paper, glue bottles, silverware,( YES shiny things) and hide them in a large amazon box, their favorite place to play. But they do entertain us with their antics and then curl up in your lap or nearby and purr themselves to sleep. Distracts Rod from all his pain once in awhile.

Well, Rod is up now and so are kitties so gotta run. Hope this finds you all happy, healthy, and enjoying the holidays. We spent thanksgiving alone and not too sure about Christmas. I don't get much time to post but try to read when I can. I miss you all a lot. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah too.

Hugs, love and prayers across the miles from Sun City, AZ. Shirley Mae

Good morning!
Mary, LOL I guess my mind thought I typed in the ending, oops 🤣😂 Frankie went over to the neighbors to tell him to come get his dogs but it was all closed and big drive gates locked and nobody up so he came back home and when he got here all the dogs were gone. I had told him to tell his neighbor to keep his dang dogs at home but since nobody was up my message didn't get delivered. This guy has lost 8 of his dogs to the pound by me calling them to get them, he's the one that his dogs killed some of my chickens. Frankie's nephew has sadly shot and killed over 15 of his dogs for chasing the baby baby cows and attacking some of the mommy cows and they tried killing some of his goats and their babies. I know it sounds bad to have to shoot and kill them but people can't just let their dogs run and hurt or kill livestock. This guy lets those poor dogs breed all the time and there's always puppies over there and they are all so skinny. The pound won't let him buy his dogs back anymore because they've picked up so many of them. There's no laws on the books here to do anything else so this is what happens. I do have to say, that mommy husky was sure pretty and very friendly and was she a talker! She was having a conversation with me and wanted in the house so bad, poor girl 💔
Send me your pic of your houses, I'll gladly post it for you 😊
Shirleymae, so glad to see you! Prayers for your family ❤ your kitty stories are so fun! They sure can keep you entertained!
Oh our mommy kitty was just hiding in her fenced in separate place in the back yard. She's fine ❤❤
Well I'm baking more bread today, I only got 3 loaves baked yesterday because someone.... we won't name names LOL.... kept saying he needed to crack pecans for Christmas for 2 months now and never started! So I ran out of pecans and couldn't bake any more. He did enough (hopefully) for me to finish the banana nut breads today. He really needs to get busy though because almost everything I bake has pecans in them!
Hmmmmmm supper tonight...... Dad's coming over so maybe I'll make chicken alfredo or spaghetti..... that way I'll have leftovers for tomorrow LOL

Afternoon!

Ever notice that when a police officer pulls you over, and approaches your car, he greets you with not saying good - well it has been one of those days here! My embroidery Pfaff is now heading to the spa retreat for 8 weeks! That is how long the back up is for repair service. The guy is the only tech in the valley that is a authorized Pfaff repairman. I don't want just some tech who thinks he knows how to work on a machine - this is one of Pfaff's high end models and I want it working right! The only problem with the machine is where the needle is held in place - that nut - is stripped and won't hold a needle. Not good when the machine is running at high speed, stitching out a embroidery. At least I have a backup machine to finish what I am sewing. I am not a happy camper at the moment!

Dinner - haven't played with the tamales, yet, maybe today, since my machine is not working.

This must be my complaint day - sorry - Emma's dress is done, all but the hem and I am not pleased with how the pattern is hanging. It is on the bias, so it stretches, so will have to pin the hem the old fashioned way, with it on Emma and measure from the floor.

So I will go have my pity party and get over it, quickly!

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Jana, bummer about the machine. My Janome has been at the shop over a week. They are really busy. Everyone is sewing these days.

Tina, Glad you found the kitty.

Mary, you need a quilt that's more of a challenge. You put these easy ones together in not time flat. I can't wait to start my class next month teaching me the Judy Niemeyer quilts. That should keep me busy a bit longer.

Dinner is Chicken, mashed potatoes and a veggie of some kind.

Have a lovely day.

OK - pity party over - realized there is a bright side to my machine being gone - I will get the Batt Cave clean and my new island could be installed by then. And I could get caught up on my UFO pile over in my LA area. So there is a bright side! I will also be getting a new desk side, just opposite of my island as well.

Lori - Judi Niemeyer is not that hard - only looks that way - her instructions are very good and hopefully your teacher will teach you the tricks in folding as you paper piece. Just keep a seam riper handy and a roll of scotch tape - to retape your paper pattern after you rip.

Maryz - Glad your Sister likes to iron and is feeling better. Hope she can help you!

Jana - Glad you got the dress done. Sorry about the machine into service. Eight weeks is a long time!

I am making a quilt from the Red and Green book that is on QIAD site. I decided the directions were not as good as Eleanor's and am making a 3-1/2 inch star block that uses 1-1/4 x 2 inch flying geese. I have them all sewn and am in the process of trimming and sewing together. Lots of work, but am taking it slow.

Tonight's dinner will be Pasta and Sauce with Garlic toast. Sounds very good to me and I need to go boil water for the Pasta.
