Supper club - Thursday, Dec 17

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Dec 17, 2020 3:25 am

Good morning

Scottie was barking like crazy at something at 4:15 this morning. Probably a deer. But that was it for me as far as sleep goes. I wanted to get up early anyway. Big grocery shopping trip and we want to be at the store when it opens.

Today is forecast to be 66°, nicest day of the week so Autumn is coming out for an early outdoor supper. So it is going to be a full day

I finished all my little houses and have the first four rows together. Seven more rows to do and then a narrow border.

My sister was in really bad shape yesterday so we finally talked her into going to the ER. Turns out she has gout! Just knowing she didn’t have an injury made her feel better. Well that and the pain pill they gave her. Now she is on medication and should be back to normal in a couple days. Whatever normal is for her. 🤪.

Jana, nice to take a little ride around your own area sometimes just to see what’s New in the neighborhood. Did you get the little dress finished? What color is it?

Lori, I am with you about cats, obviously. As I read your post about stroking a kitty on your lap, I was doing exactly that! Though my Foxy is not generally a lap cat. Unless we have one specific fleece blanket on our laps then he will lay on that. But he is a big boy at 17 pounds so it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Another camper saw him outside and thought he was a dog!! 🙀

Irish- your house sounds like a very busy, happy place! Kathy really makes things happen, doesn’t she! How much snow do you have? I don’t think I would want my new car out in the snow either!

Carol, does your hubby collect the department 56 stuff? or do you? Or does he collect airplane stuff? My older daughter, Lara, used to have quite a collection of department 56.

Becca, I see you count things the same way I do - how many TV evenings it takes to make something. 😸

Well supper will be mac & cheese tonight. I am going to make it on the stove and then put it in the crockpot to keep it warm. I will add salad and maybe something fun for dessert since Autumn is coming.

Got to run! See you at the table!

Good morning!

Mary - puppies barking do wake you up! Baxter, is a golden doodle dog, that lives next door. He does not like being cold, so when he is finished being outside, he barks at the door letting them know, it's time to let me back in. Wakes me up every morning too! Other than that, Baxter is a very quiet dog.

Emma's dress is coming along. Got sidetracked yesterday on working on it. The dress has a black velvet bodice, with short sleeves, and a hunter green silk brocade skirt. The skirt hangs on the bias, and is quite full at the hem. 141 inches of hem! It will be on the machine to hem all that! The dress finishes just a bit longer than mid calf. Oh, it is fully lined too, with just a little bit of tulle netting near the hem line for a little it of fulness. It is a very classic looking dress and will be very pretty when I get it done.

Dinner - depending on sewing, I might try my hand at some tamales. We would buy a brand at the store in California, that were made with polenta instead of masa. We really like those, so I am going to try my hand at inventing my own copycat recipe. Bought some Hatch red chili sauce to help with the filling. We will see....

Got some good news yesterda. Scott, our nephew is officially done with his degree as a software
engineer and then Aaron called and he will be finished with his degree this next semester! This is quite an accomplishment for Aaron. He was not a book learning student in high school. Never finished for his diploma, but got his GED. Now, he will have a diploma from college in Emergency Management. To say the least,, I am very pleased and proud of that boy!

Well, time for the furnace to come on, warm up the burrrrrr cold house and me to get dressed.

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Good afternoon from a very snowy, SW. Pa....AND we're to get more tomorrow...It really is pretty, if you're inside looking out....But, the funniest thing, I have a routine in the morning, take care of Baby Girl, get my cup of coffee and then go out, pick up the paper and park my butt in my chair...Well, opened the inside door, tried to open the storm door and the snow was too high and I could not get out...Both doors were like that so I reached for the broom and was going to try to push it away from the door and as I stuck my head out the door, snow fell off the roof and landed right on my head....Time to give up until I could talk Tim into getting my paper....All the roads are clear but the snow is piled up very high alongside...Kathy left to meet up with Dan and transfer a car and also to give him boxes of gifts to bring to Cari's....When she gets back, we're leaving, I think.....Talk about whirl-wind, she's certainly is...Can't count the times, she's gone out and shoveled along with wrapping tons of gifts while sitting on the living room floor....Then she did mine.....Really hate to think of them going back to Reno (on Monday)......

Mary, glad your sister did go to the ER. At least when you know what the problem is, it still hurts but you know why and hopefully do something about it....Sometimes, meds are wonderful! Can't wait to see all your little houses...Glad you'll be seeing Autumn, always a treat......

Becca, I agree about being cold, hate it! And do feel so bad for the homeless...Just isn't right....

Jana, The dress you're making sounds gorgeous...Nothing prettier than a green velvet dress at Christmas...Would love, love to see a picture.....Almost everyone has a dog around here and there are a few big dogs but I've yet to hear any of them....Maybe Baxter thinks he's your personal "wake up call".....Boy, you have every right to be proud of Aaron and your nephew, quite an accomplishment........

Well, Kathy just came back so it's time to get on the road......

Have no idea what we'll have for dinner but having Tim with us, he makes sure no one starves....I swear he's a hollow pit......

Happy eating...............

You all have a great rest of the day....I won't be back until late Sunday so try to behave......
AND of course be safe....

Eagle Update: Harriet from the Ft. Myers nest layed her 1st egg yesterday about 5:00...Proud Papa was on the branch above and came down to check out the arrival and then actually gave her a little peck on her cheek.....They are something else.......

Meringue cookie recipe is on Betty Crocker website. I will need to make more! Today I mixed Ginger cookies. I want to mix Oatmeal this evening, but have Zoom.

Tonight’s dinner is Fast Hash. It was very good.

Becca - Glad your DH likes the new Doctor. Always hard to find one you like!

MaryZ - So good your sister went to ER! Hope her knee feels better soon. Is your sister moving to the next campground with you?

Irish - Enjoy your time with your family!

Mary, I've had a few mornings waking up to a barking dog. If it's early, I can go back to sleep. Well at least your sister knows what it is and how to deal with it now. DS Jonathan has gout. When he first started working from home in March, he started getting flare ups and didn't know why. So he did some reading about it. There are many foods that cause flare ups. He had started eating tuna for lunch because he was home and it was easy. He found out that is one of the bad foods. Since then he is far more conscious about his diet. Foxy is 17 pounds? Wow...that's awesome. Not so much for lap time. However, Jack, our black lab, is 76 pounds and sometimes he gets up in the recliner with me in the morning. He's a big mama's boy. I love it.

Irish, with that much snow, I'd call it a day and stay inside and make some hot chocolate.

Jana, that's a really big hem on a small dress. I bet it's going to look so pretty on her.

Today was our friendship group Christmas get together. Sew much fun.

It's another get what you want kind of night. I had Cherrios. Maybe I'll cook something tomorrow.

Have a lovely evening.

Hi everyone!!! I didn't fall off the face of the earth! I was sewing in my "spare" time LOL truthfully I had to invent some "spare" time by not doing things I should've been doing.
I'll need to get caught up reading on what you all have been doing.
I have an appointment for 9:30 Tuesday morning for my LA to be set up! 🎉🎉 and the lady that has been doing my quilting for me is coming as the helper and she's going to give me a little lesson too!
I was going to start my baking Tuesday morning but now it'll be Tuesday afternoon.
Here's the quilt top I made while I was absent 😊
