Supper club - Wed, Dec 16

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Dec 16, 2020 3:06 am

Good morning!

Yesterday we took an impromptu ride a little north to Georgetown. We just checked out the countryside, drove by Autumn‘s old house for my sister to see, and showed them the beautiful campgrounds Where we usually stay. They were closed this winter for renovations. And we had a drive-through lunch and ate in the car in a parking lot. It was 3 1/2 hours with one Break to stretch our legs. My sister’s knee was pretty stiff when we got back. She hasn’t felt very good this whole trip so I’ve been doing a lot of the cooking for both of us. Last night we ended up with jambalaya and we tossed in the last of the pork roast from the night before as well as sausage and some veggies. We had strawberry ice cream for dessert

Irish, you have been one busy grandma! Funny about the stink bug! We have them at home and I generally relocate them out the door.

Becca, still two more pairs of shoes to go. How long does it take you to make one pair?

Jana, I will share with Al the train info. My guess is he will let it sit in the attic and let his kids figure it out. I consider that a waste but it’s not mine train.

Lori - what’s happening in your sewing room these days?

Carol, your kitty sounds like she’s just a delight. I was watching a bird yesterday too. We were walking and it flew right past us into a tree that was full of small limbs and no leaves. Crashed into all those little twiggy limbs. It almost looked embarrassed as it thrashed its way through the tree and out the other side and kept on flying. 🤣

Since we ended up with jambalaya last night I think I will make the teriyaki chicken today. And maybe have some pasta with it.

What’s your supper story?

Maryz - Kitty has quite an assortment of birds to watch. The other day a Stellar Jay stopped by and of course the residents peafowl. Glad you got a nice drive yesterday. Sorry your Sister isn’t feeling well. She is lucky you are there to cook.

Everyone sounds busy.

We did get the tree decorated last evening. DH opened the new Department 56 Airport I bought him. He really likes it. I made Raspberry Meringue Cookies Monday. I need to make more cookies too.

Tonight’s supper will be sheet pan chicken and potatoes with mustard.

Good afternoon from a very, very snowy, SW. Pa...For once the weather people were right, even a little early with their prediction...It started snowing right at 10:00 this morning and hasn't stopped...Kathy has been out a couple of times trying out the new snow shovel and about 15 minutes afterwards, you'd never know she had been out....She finally got her "at home covid test", hurried and took it and then tracked down the FedEx drop off...She just wanted to reassure the kids but feels, if she had picked up anything on the plane, she would be having some sort of symptom by now....But, both she and Tim had the virus way back in Feb. and could be still immune.....

Mary, your day, yesterday, sounded so nice....Love to have days like that and still miss the days when Jim and I would jump in the car and just go...So sorry to hear about your Sis's knee..Always something to mess up the good times....

Becca. I have been meaning to let you know, I didn't get the email you had sent but, my computer is so messed up, I'm missing a lot of emails...One of these days, Dan (my PC expert DGS) is going to take a look at it and probably say, "Gram, you need a new one!"....Would be nice if Santa had me on the good list and brought me one but have a feeling, that's not gonna happen, especially the part about the good list, lol......

Carol, your kitty really does sound entertaining....I miss having a kitten and often think I'll get BabyGirl a playmate but then quickly change my mind...At my age, I don't think it would be fair to a kitten knowing, that kitten would outlive me and the way I'd spoil it, no one else would take care of it the same way....So BabyGirl will be an only child......But, I sure do get tempted! And your Raspberry Meringue cookies sound heavenly............

It's been an interesting couple of days around here...Being able to cook for someone who loves to eat is a treat...Tim is a big guy and can put it away with no trouble...He always says, wish you wouldn't go to all this trouble but afterwards, thanks me over and over....Not sure if our plans are going to pan out but knowing Kathy, she'll be determined to get to Cari's....This storm is supposed to be over soon and the roads will be taken care of I'm sure....Besides, I have a Subaru, supposed to be great in the snow, which I wouldn't know because Ruby doesn't go out in the snow, lol.....

Kathy is still wrapping gifts, hopefully, I'll have my sewing room back to semi normal soon...Even the FedEx driver was worried about getting all the stuff wrapped...I'm worried about getting everything in the car and me not having to ride on the roof.....

For dinner, tonight will be "mustgo" night with lots of cookies and ice cream for afters....My sister stopped in with a red devil's food cake that everyone loves BUT, it's to take to Cari's...Will be hard keeping Tim for sampling........

You all have a great rest of the day.....Please stay safe.....

Happy eating................

Good afternoon!

Home finally from a simple traipse to UPS to drop off the package to Daniel. The shop is not far, but since it was sunny out, no snow falling, we took the round about long way home. Took over an hour. Short trip would have been 10 minutes.

Heading down to finish Emma's dress. Then do the binding on a quilt for Scott. Not much else in this neck of the woods.

Dinner - Humm-- we will see what's hanging out easy in the freezer.

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Mary, unscheduled trips are the best. I finished up a swap for guild this week. I just finished layering the snowman quilts. So I might try and quilt that on the Bernina. Hopefully I'll get my Janome back soon. He's really busy.

Carol, sounds like kitty and fitting in nicely. There's nothing like having a warm kitty on your lap purring loudly. I feel sorry for people that are allergic to cats. They never get to have that wonderful feeling.
Or pet a cats soft fur.

Irish, the story about the stink bug was very funny. I don't even know what they look like.

Jana, I bet that dress is very pretty.

Well we didn't have orange chicken last night, so that's what's on the menu tonight.

Have a lovely evening.
