Supper Club - Wed, Dec 2

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Dec 02, 2020 4:46 am

Good morning,

Hard to believe we’re solidly into December! Seems like last week we were spending warm evenings out on our deck at home. The only good thing about 2020 is that it seems to have gone very quickly – at least it has for me.

We were 61° and sunny yesterday but chilly wind blowing all day. So it still wasn’t very pleasant sitting outside though we did find a sheltered sunny patch for a while to relax and visit w/ Al. We grilled burgers outside but ate them inside

As to sewing, I got my fifteen 6“ x 18“ tree blocks made. This quilt is made in three different sections so today I will start sewing them together. And maybe start tracing the reindeer for appliqué.

My brother, Gene, finally started chatting/texting last night. I think now that the transition has been made he is feeling relief starting to sink in. He said in 84 years he had maybe five headaches, but this past year has been daily headaches. And he was getting so tired. His wife was completely full care, day and night. He hasn't slept more than 2 hrs at a time for two years. And the facility reports that Margie is settling in nicely. I think they are going to do OK. 🤞🙂🙏. I told him many of you were offering prayers for them and he is grateful. As am I. 🥰

Irish, i’m going to have to keep referring to your post to keep track of you! Looks like you may have to make two trips to Florida this winter... ☀️🌴😎👙

Becca, I would love to see a picture of your Christmas village when it is all set up. It sounds very special!

Jana, what would Christmas be without a few family challenges? Dealing with your Mr. Scrooge, and sorting through the “kids“ Assistance. 😆

Lori, thanks for the link. It’s a cutie! How big is it going to be?

Tina texted late last night that her long arm finally arrived. Now she is waiting for a call for someone to come set it up for her and teach her how to use it.

Chickie texted A few days ago. She finished her three hungry hungry caterpillar quilts for their three new great-grands born this past year. And on Thanksgiving they were told there is going to be a fourth baby come next May so she is back in the baby quilt business again.

Supper tonight is going to be teriyaki chicken on the grill. We are going to sauté diced sweet potato w/ onion And toss a salad. We share several meals with Al and Tina, But eat a lot on our own as well.

How about you? Irish’s poached egg sounds tasty to me...

Good morning!

Mary - thanks for all the updates on everyone. Sounds like you will finish all the projects you packed this week! Gene, although sad, will feel such a relief that his wife is getting the care needed. He did so much for her all these years.

Ethan will be here later this morning. Sarah is seeing the surgeon and hopefully can get this all over with quickly. With not being able to eat, she has lost 30 pounds, which is good, but it's the hard way to do it! Ethan helped rearrange the boxes into the right room and started helping me decorate. We will do more. I also need a quick run to drop off packages at UPS. They are just run in, leave box, run out. Already paid for, so it is easy.

Dinner - still dark outside, and breakfast is first! Could be the chicken something or a soup, we will see.

My little girls are coming over tonight, to drop off their letters to Santa. I have a red metal mailbox, labeled, Letters to Santa, and the "elves from the North Pole" come and check for mail. I save the letters the kids write and will give them their letters when they are older. Ethan is at the still believing in Santa stage, but starting to question how Santa does everything. Maybe one more year before he figures it out.

Sewing and decorating is my fun today.

Stay Safe! Warm too. We are at 17 outside.

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning everyone!
I have been a little scatterbrained lately LOL too much excitement I think! Yep, my long arm arrived and has me a tad excited 🤣😂 then we've got all our Christmas decorations out, most still in boxes so my house is a mess! School is back up and running daily at my house so that takes up half my days. I swore I posted and let you all know and when I got on late last night I couldn't find my post... actually thought I'd lost my mind. Guess I just posted in my mind. 🤷‍♀️
Mary, you sure are going through those projects fast! You may have to find another couple or 3 🤣😂
I'm sorry to hear about your SIL but I do know that their are good places out there to help, it's just triple sad and hard on everyone else with the covid restrictions, but again it's for everyone's safety. Prayers for your brother.
Jana, I've never told my kids or grands that there's no Santa because I still believe ❤ there's Santa in all of us so I believe in Santa. I get asked all the time if Santa is real, he's real to me ❤
Well I have soup to put on, it'll be lunch for today and tomorrow. We have to pick up a Walmart order at 6, I timed it so we can pick up something for supper too 🤣😂 yep I roll like that!

Mary, I feel for you brother. It's hard to let go, but you know it's the right thing to do.
My dad will get to that point with my mother. She is becoming more unmanageable. She'll be 86 next week, and my dad will be 88 in January. I don't know how much longer he can take care of her.
As for the quilt, it's 42 x 60. Just a small decoration quilt. I bought it more to support the vendors at the show than because I liked it. I'll give it to one of the kids for Christmas.

Becca, I got out my Christmas coffee mugs so far.

Tina, how fun for you. I bet you can't wait to start quilting on the new machine.

Jana, what a cute idea with the red mailbox.

Tonight we'll have leftover potato soup and I'll make some cornbread to go with it.
Lori 8-)

Sarah just stopped by after her appointment with the surgeon. Surgery will be next Friday, the 11th of December. It will be in and out of the hospital the same day. The surgeon is very confident that it is gallstones, not polyps as they first thought. He also feels that it will be a easy surgery with no complications, after reading all the ultrasounds etc. Ethan will be here with us on the night before and the day after. Then on Monday and the rest of that week, I will be the teacher as Sarah recouperates. Joseph will bring Ethan to "school" at my house each day.
