SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Oct 13th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Oct 13, 2020 5:27 am

Good morning!

We have RAIN! And lots of it! And we're going to be having it all morning long with wind this afternoon. Lovely day! But then, by tomorrow we'll be out of it and nice days ahead! Though the temps are certainly cooling off!

Today my first grandson, Drew, is 27 years old. Man, have those years gone fast! No parties, no gatherings because of Covid. :( . Plus, he works and lives 25 miles away so it's hard on weeknights. But he did get a card and a nice check from us!

I've made good progress on my UGRR. I have it laid out on my living room floor. I got another bunch of geese made yesterday. Will do some more today. and of course, I sewed a few backward into the quilt so I need to do a little frogging and turn those geese around! I'll work on it some more today as I'd like it to be all done (the top, not all the quilting!) before my sis arrives on Thursday but I also have some house stuff to do, laundry, menu planning, and grocery shopping. Going to be a busy 3 days!

BECCA - sorry to hear about CA's dizzies. I have had problems like that 3 times. He may have a problem with his middle or inner ear and should probably see a dr if it's not going away.

TINA - thanks for cheering me on with my geese! I'm too far into it to change directions now! So, what was for lunch? It sounded delicious if it was coming out of the oven. And if it wasn't fish of any kind.

JANA - I've had years like that. Sad to say, more than one! But happy to say, I've survived it all - so far. I say cover that little mistake on your Adversity quilt with a heart applique because, after all, love gets us through. A few years back I made a king quilt called "Woven Ribbons". Mostly black, yellow "ribbons" weaving through a field of tiny 9-patches. It wasn't until after the quilt was finished and on our bed for over a year that I found a big mistake in the weaving design. Never noticed it before in all that time, but suddenly, once I saw it, that was all I saw! My solution? I folded the quilt and put it at the foot of the bed, mistake hidden! lol!

From IRISH: "I'm still hanging in there...I was so proud of myself, I made it from the bedroom to the kitchen and made a slice of toast....boy did it taste good....other than that I'm mostly in bed or in the recliner....it has affected my eyes so I really can't read....Baby Girl is with me 24/7, my sweetie...we just want it all gone....My sister might be coming home again today but she's still bad...Oh well, 1 day at a time....thank you and the girls for the prayers...."

I'm trying to figure out supper for tonite. My mind is more on what I'll be serving AFTER my sis gets here. I just fed them all my good stuff a few weeks ago! I'm thinking tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for us for tonight. Something quick and easy.

What's your best idea for tonite's feast?

Good afternoon!

Decided that the old recliner in my bedroom needed a good cleaning.. . so I got out my handy dandy carpet/upholstery cleaner and did just that. Wet, it sure looks better, we will see after it dries. I need to do the sofa and touch up a couple of spots on the other chairs in the great room. That will be another day. See what happens when you add a new door! It is called the "toilet seat syndrome " in this family. It all started more than 40 years ago with a Christmas gift, a padded toilet seat for Michael's grandfather. He just couldn't put it on the toilet, you first had to paint the bathroom, then new flooring, and you can see how this all went! By the way, the toilet seat never was installed, he still had projects in there first. Most people call it scope creep on a work project.

Dinner - maybe tortilla soup. It's easy and I will be stiff and sore in a little while.

Mary - your sister must be coming through I -70 to I -15 on Thursday - I'll wave as she goes by. Aaron is on duty that day. It is his normal day off, but he is covering for others that are at a special meeting. So if a problem arises in SLC County, she will be in good hands! I too still love wallpaper. It is coming back. I have seen it on many of the design shows and This Old House. Just not flowers, more grass cloths and TOT's. My Concord house had wallpaper in every room! !ots of borders too!

Becca - your Nativity is a labor of love and can't wait to see a picture, or even pictures of it in progress. Now, behave yourself! No cleaning first! Me, I'd be cleaning first too! LOL

Well, thinking hard about hobbling down to the Batt Cave,

Hugs and prayers,
Jana

Hi Everyone,
Today is hot! The painters have finished the sanding, except for the garage door. Seems like one of the layers of paint is gumming up the sander and they need a different sander. Since the garage door is at the front, they decided to power wash the rest of the house. Tomorrow they will bring the right sander and while one is painting the other will do the sanding on the garage door. I am looking forward to having the house clean. The windows are so dirty from the sanding I cannot see out of them.

Meanwhile I am quilting the quilt I made for my niece. Seems like it is taking me forever to do this quilting!

Tonight's dinner will be grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli.

Hi everyone!
Lunch wasn't anything good LOL just a little frozen pizza for Easton and pizza popper things for Jazmyne, I try to cook stuff like that in the oven since I think cooking them in the microwave makes them blah.
Mary, mistakes don't bother me much after the fact.... yet.
I'm glad Irish and her sister are doing better.
Becca, I had a cleaning lady in 2004 when I had 2 surgeries in 1 month; a hysterectomy and a bone spur on my foot removed....I was back to work in 4 weeks....I didn't clean before the cleaning lady came.......I contribute my fast recovery to taking it easy.
Carol, you'll have a totally new looking house! Awesome!
We had to come into town for chicken food so I asked Frankie to get a rotisserie chicken for supper! We'll have salad with it.
Tina
