SUPPER CLUB - Monday, October 12th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Oct 12, 2020 5:30 am

Good morning,

We're pretty windy this morning, but the rain finally stopped so that's good - at least for us. I know other folks would love to have that rain! I'm happy to share!

Yesterday I was sewing along making great progress on my king-sized UGRR duvet cover and suddenly ran short of little flying geese. How could that be? I'd made all 168 of them. I was frustrated so left that project alone for a while, went downstairs to tend the laundry (I was washing 6 sets of sheets) and thought I'd do some dusting while waiting for the dryer to buzz. And before I knew it I was neck deep into rearranging all the furniture in the family room. Which of course, entails vacuuming, sweeping, windows, etc. I was exhausted by the end of the day! I still have some fine-tuning to do down there, but it looks better now. And I need to go out to the trailer this morning, make the bed and put some things away out there. A few more uglies in the house and soon I'll be back to the sewing room. And this morning I was thinking about those geese, double-checked the pattern (in El's UGRR book) and realized each cornerstone has 8 flying geese flying out from it and I only counted 4. I have to make another 168! Sigh.

BECCA - I'm glad your family wasn't involved in the accident in Yellowstone, but felt so badly for that little one! Hope you find something to use for your sheep.

JANA - oooh, lemon filling! Yum!! My very favorite!! Did you dust them with powdered sugar? My sister will be going through SLC area on Wednesday. She can stop by and pick some up for me!! How is Minnie coming along? I was thinking you'd posted a photo, but when I looked there was no picture - yet. Maybe I dreamed that or mis-read. So I will be patient.

TINA - I don't care for going up past the second step on any ladder, but I was the only help Bill had. All our friends are too broken to help with projects like that. We keep saying we have to get younger friends! lol!

CAROL - Yes, I think you did give us that soup recipe. IN fact, I think I already had it, made it, and enjoyed it! I'm sure I tweaked the recipe some, though. I often go rogue in the kitchen! Glad you had a Zoom-less day!

Our chops & potato supper last night was really tasty! And there's enough left for tonight, too. My sis and DBIL should be returning by Thursday and staying at least a week so I need to come up with some more menus. I'll be perusing my recipe box in the next few days for ideas . . .

Hi everyone! I'm zooming by, making lunch in the oven so have a very few minutes.
Mary, sorry you ran out of geese but you sure got lots accomplished! I think your quilt is worth making those other 168 geese, it puts the meow on it!
Becca, I can hardly wait to see your sheep, I bet they are adorable!
I'm not sure about supper yet.
Oops beeper is calling me.

Hi there!

Still haven't made it down to the Batt Cave yet. Working on the uglies up here. Sidetracked myself with watching contention on the news for a few minutes. Now back to getting something good done.

Dinner - a chicken something concoction. Tomatoes from the garden will be involved somehow as well. My little tomato plant is still out there producing. I have fresh potatoes too. So we shall see what comes together. The rest of the garden is being readied for the winter and next spring.

Mary - I too hate miscounting ! Especially when I am measuring something. I have a quilt that I started back in the days when we were dealing with lots of trials and tribulations in the family. It is called the Adversity quilt. It is just two colors, and a double nine patch pattern. I fussed the directional print to run the same way, 8n each black, made sure that the points and squares all lined up perfectly. Then I started hand quilting, using a cable feather circle and diagonal lines through out the entire quilt. I was finishing the last side quilting, marking those diagonal lines and found that I had miscounted by one square of having the equal number on each side. That one square was a inside border square that is a 1 inch square - uggh! I am still trying to see how to hide my mistake and finish that quilt. It is a wall hanging size. So it truly fits it's name as the Adversity quilt. During that time of adversity, we dealt with three people dying in 6 months in the immediate family. Not a fun time. But we got through.

Tina - you are the best lunch room lady! And a better cook than them too! You get a gold star! What we do for our grandkids!

Becca - I wish I had that sheep fabric - I know the piece you need - I did have that exact 9ne, but no scraps left here anymore. You are brave to make those pieces with movable joints.

Well, time to empty dishwashers, change washer and dryer and do more,

Stay Safe!
Hugs,
Jana

Just found out my new door is in. Our handyman told Sarah, so since it is nice weather this week and next, she will put on hold her sheetrock, so we can put in the door. Now for a major re- arranging of my bedroom. Time to think out of the box, as everything needs to be moved
