I slept until 5:30 this morning! I felt like such a slug-a-bed. But it was better than yesterday when I woke up at 2:30 and finally gave up on sleeping and got up at 4:00. It was a beautiful day - blue skies and temps eventually climbed to about 72*. We might break 80 today, but we'll be leaving in a few hours to drive south and camp along the Columbia (about 3 hours from here). Might be warmer temps but breezes off the river will cool us down. The river is very wide at that point. Lots of ocean going ships will be going up and down river. Always fun to sit and watch.
Yesterday I finished quilting and bound my yo-yo quilt. Love how it turned out! I also quilted a smaller quilt made from Christmas lotto blocks I won last year. That one will get a binding when we return from camping. My Quilting Queue (QQ) is now down to 11. I will quilt most of them myself, freehand meander. None of them are very big so I can get two done in a day. But there are a few that I really want done with the computerized patterns. Bindings take me about an hour, start to finish. I hope to have this backlog of tops cleared out so I can take this stack of quilts to the police dept or to the nursing home for Christmas gifts before we leave for Texas in early Nov. They are quilts made from swaps, lottos, and orphan blocks.
TINA - I'm anxious to hear about Dad's labs. I used the half-cup finely chopped habaneros called for in the recipe. Maybe I should have left more seeds in. I used my onion chopper to chop them up. That was a long ride yesterday! All the travel magazines advise stopping for 10 min every hour to walk around. So you were spot on doing that! But 450 miles in one day is exhausting!
CAROL - there are a lot of earthquake regulations here, too, in the PNW. All enacted before OUR house was built, of course, but our shop, built in the 90's, should survive when The Big One finally hits. We keep our trailer stocked at all times with food/water/clothes/pet food for a week. Glad you liked your meringue cookies. They are too sweet for my taste.
BECCA - glad you had no earthquake problems - or hurricane issues either! You must live in God's own country! I usually use my potato masher when making jam, too. But this year, I tried my food processor for the first time. I haven't tried the jam yet, but like Tina said it does distribute the fruit through the jar more evenly.
JANA - that was probably a wise decision (for an 'old lady'

I heard from Chickie yesterday. They had a great grandbaby girl. 7#, 1 oz, I think. No name yet.
SUPPER tonite will be in camp and I think it will be Yankee Dip sandwiches and bean salad. And maybe a green salad, too. We've never been to this campground before so I may not be around for supper until we return Thursday afternoon. In case you want to know, our other suppers while we're gone will be steak, baked potato, & salad and chicken fajitas. We eat good breakfasts, too, when camping - All cooked on our outdoor stove - french toast, pancakes, migas (breakfast taco), hashbrowns, bacon, sausages, eggs. Good thing it's a short trip because my annual physical is coming up Aug 26 and I don't want (another) weight lecture!

Happy Suppertime!
