SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, May 31st

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun May 31, 2020 6:22 am

Good morning,

The last day of May. Glad to see it! It's been a rough month.

We had a rip-roaring T-storm yesterday morning for about 3 hours. It started to thunder when we were out walking at 0630. But the clouds held their juice until we got home. We encountered Vicki about 1/3 mile away, tottering back and forth across the road. At one point she spotted us and stopped, turned towards us (while standing in the road), laid down her walking stick, took an aggressive stance, and lit up a cigarette. We tried to get her to move off the road, but she was having none of that! I pity the poor driver who will probably hit her one day and be traumatized for life, or wreck their car trying to avoid her. The criteria for committal is "a danger to herself or to others". I would think this would qualify her.

Bill loaded my Mickey/Minnie LOVE quilt onto the quilting frame yesterday and found an "ears" quilting pattern and downloaded it to his Q-bot. That's as far as he got though. I made the binding and am ready to tuck that project into the can! I plan to make the label today. I also finished the laundry and we both packed enough clothes into the trailer for 2-1/2 weeks. We don't leave until Friday morning, but we pack when all the clothes are clean. Just food is left to go, but that will be more last minute. And sewing. 8-)

JANA - your tote is gorgeous! Fabrics are purrfect and I love the X-stitch. But the best part of the whole project is working together with your daughter! I wish my DD's had even a little bit of interest.

BECCA - OK, you get a badge, too! lol! I always wear gloves when I do yardwork, but my nails still get dirty and broken. Thank you for your constant prayers for Albert and Gene. Gene texted last night that he had a fire in his brake lines on his big truck. ( I put a video of him backing his truck into his long driveway on FB). He managed to cobble things together enough to get home without "hook assist". His usual route takes him about 300 miles down the Alaska Hwy to Beaver Creek, Yukon and then back to Fairbanks. Now his truck, "Snort", is in the shop for a while.

LORI - your day sounded ideal! You must have everything shiney clean by now! Did Dad's chair come yet? We're still waiting on our furniture. Most of our state is starting to relax restrictions starting tomorrow. My guess is they will want to deliver our furniture about the time we are leaving for two weeks of camping. Sigh. Did your friend absolutely love her gold/blue quilt? It was a stunner!

Bill liked last night's concoction: broccoli, rice, chicken, and queso poured over all and baked. And we'll have the rest of it tonite, with salad. He loves leftovers, for which I'm really thankful. It means I only have to really cook about 3x/wk. :D

Are you cooking tonite?

Good morning!

Another hot day on tap here. Getting near the century mark, but not quite there, yet. Cloudy, so a chance of a thunderstorm too.

Dinner will be a late brunch of hash browns and eggs. Maybe a bit of sausage gravy too.

I will be attempting to gain order out of chaos in the Batt Cave today. I have definitely earned my PhD, piled high and deep! My desk is so bad, that my keyboard is totally buried. I will need to find my hymnal, to get the music ready for church services, that will start next week. Need to give my organists time to prepare. The hymnal was last seen somewhere near my desk.

Mary - many of our campgrounds are open here. Reservations are required. The national parks are opening as well.

Becca - we too wait until all facts are presented to make a judgement. After knowing all that goes on, the media is not told, from Aaron's experience, we wait.

It was a interesting experience to watch all the trouble in SLC, without the media sound, and Aaron, making the calls. He was right on the money at each turn of events. Earlier, he was working and called to tell us, that we were to stay home, not to go out at all. This was before most things started. Our neighbor is a SWAT officer and was on the front lines. He is fine. So far it is quiet today.

Well, better get going,

Hugs,
Jana

Jana, when I was working, we used to turn on the news with the sound off, and listen to the county wide law enforcement radio for volume. That way we got to see the action, with non-biased commentary. Pursuits are really fun that way.

Mary, the chair was delivered Friday. So his room is ready. The house is pretty clean, but I still find things to more things to clean.

Becca, I haven't been watching the new much. I turned it on this morning and was in awe of all that's going on. I haven't seen it for a few days.

Well I didn't deliver the quilt yet. She was busy, so I go by this evening and give it to her. I'll be leaving on Tuesday for Illinois. Once I get there, I'll be going through things, organizing and cleaning so more. Ugh! We'll be glad to finally sell this house. When we bought it 17 years ago, we didn't think his dad would live this long with his heart condition. However, we are glad he was able to live there and enjoy it for so long. The lady that sold us the house will be selling it for us.

The house/pet sitter just came by to get all the information regarding the furry ones. The boys were very happy to see her. Well I need to do laundry so I have clothes to wear.

I don't know what dinner will be. Maybe eggs and potatoes.

Have a lovely day.

Lori 8-)

Good late afternoon from a sunny but cool, SW. Pa....The weekend has been chilly but it's going to warm up for the next week.....

It's not that I've been busy but just haven't been on the "puter" too much...But, I have tried to read and catch up with everyone.....
Mary, didn't realize you were going to be gone for 2 weeks...By chance, do you have anyone standing guard over your stash????Quite a story about your truck driving brother...I did watch that video of him backing that big thing back that road...Still don't understand how it's done, lol....
I can imagine how scary it would be seeing Vicki in the middle of the road...As I've said, in our state, 1 call would be all it took....
I talked to Kathy the other day and they were leaving for a small driving trip...Now, she said, small but they drove through Nevada, went to Utah, through Bryce Canyon and then headed for Sedona....She's been sending pictures and from the pics, it looks unbelievable...Of course I did tell her, if they happened to get lost, my sister and I will be happy to come and try to find them...(talk about Frick and Frack to the rescue)...

Jana, 1st, the tote is absolutely gorgeous...Working together really does create a masterpiece....And, also, from what Kathy is telling me about your state, I really want to come out that way and not just have a stop over at the airport....You really do live in a beautiful part of our country.....

Becca, seems today, you got the heat...I haven't even gone outside today and I know tonight I'll probably be looking for my flannel PJs., lol....

Lori, you've really made a lot of progress in that room..Glad to hear the chair is all ready....But it does sound like you have a lot of work, getting the house ready to sell...Hope things go well without a hitch...I was talking to the gal who sold my house and it seems we have a shortage of for sale homes and she said, some of her people are actually offering $5000 - 10,000 over asking price....It sounds like your furbabies like their sitter, which really means a lot......

Not really much happening in my neighborhood...Last night I did have my sister, niece and her friend (who wants to move here) come for cards, gabbing and lots of eating....We had played at my sisters the night before and then they decided to try out my house...So, I baked a strudel cake, ran to the store and got lots of snacks and we played until almost 1:00....Maybe that's why I'm not moving too fast today.....

But, like so many of you, I try not to watch the news...Here in Pittsburgh, we too have had protesting and like so many other cities, the protests have turned really ugly...I think I can speak for so many in utter disbelief and sadness of what has happened but I also feel, these riots etc. are not the way Mr. Floyd would want to be remembered for....My heart goes out to his family and friends....I've talked to my DGS, who is a Pgh. policeman and he assures me, he's fine and praying things quiet down.....

As for my dinner, I cooked.....I had a small pork loin and found a box mix of cheesy potatoes, stuck them in the oven and had the kitchen really smelling good...Pork is not my best friend but I thought what the heck, I can taste it and then Kevin can have the left overs.....(If I make it through the evening with no problems, Kevin might not get any)......

You all have a great rest of the day.......

Happy eating.........................
