SUPPER CLUB - Wed, May 27th

Good morning,

Going to be a nice day here - 74* and sunny. Tomorrow will be 78*. Yesterday I worked on the 5" crazy blocks I had made up to this point. They are all now fancy-stitched and sewn together. I have 8-1/2 (of 20) rows sewn together. Closing in the halfway point! I'm still looking squinty-eyed at JANA, though . . . . This is supposed to be a "spare time as scraps accumulate" kind of project, but I have no other machine project in the works right now - not even a UFO. I may have to start quilting some of these tops I have stacking up. I can see no one else is going to do it . . .

LORI - Your quilt is awesome! Sounds like you are ready for Dad! As soon as that chair comes. I hope your property/house sells quickly, but things are moving slowly right now. At least they are here.

IRISH - what happened at Kathy's that they are redoing things? A fire??

BECCA - things are going well at your house! How long is Denise staying? Is Marc with her?

JANA - I think when you poke the egg, you use something really small - a little safety pin. You poke the big end of the egg and dont' go through the membrane so the egg stays intact. It's meant to relieve the pressure and thus prevent cracking. Gene says he even found a special tool in the kitchen drawer for just that! Marge used to be a field editor for Taste of Home magazine and boy, could she cook. I've heard of doing this, but never tried it myself. Did everyone get home from camping OK? Hope Sarah warmed up! I hope you won the staring contest with your ugh-lies!

Supper tonite will NOT be BBQ'd pork sandwiches! Or potato salad! Maybe grilled chicken and rice? Still thinking . . . .

I still need to get the cobwebs out of my brain this morning so I can think. Then I'll decide about something to eat.

Good morning from warm, sunny, SW. Pa....Today, the temps aren't going to be as high, only in the mid 80s and I think maybe a little rain by evening.....My plants (and me) are counting on that rain, hate to drag out the hose again.....

Mary, you sure are busy with that project...AND for you not to have any UFOs, that's unheard of...I have a feeling, Bill would rather be outside than inside with the quilts, right?....
The episode with Kathy, no fire, thank goodness, but it was the kerosene heater that did the damage....This happened in Feb. and every morning, Tim would turn on the heater to warm up the garage and then spend the day working on his prized car...Well, he lit the thing, went in the house for a cup of coffee and the heater malfunctioned and spewed black ashy stuff over everything in the garage...Kathy said, when they opened the door, it was completely black...She used the garage as her pantry, kept all her small appliances as well as the freezer, wine cooler all her canning, everything along with all his tools etc. Everything, right down to the outside walls had to be replaced...The insurance company came and actually took everything that they thought they could clean but disposed of everything else...As they were disposing or taking the stuff, they did an inventory...Can you imagine, making a list of everything you have in your kitchen or any room in your house....Just the appliances alone have totaled to close to $20,000 and that didn't include having the garage practically rebuilt....So, now, every time, they go out, she picks up something that she needs but it's going to take a long time to replace....The only thing Tim had salvaged was a screw driver....She did send me a picture of boxes if tools that the insurance company had cleaned and sent back, some are just pieces of tools, others are in tact....So,needless to say, they have really had a project to keep them busy during the "shut down" and it's going to last a lot longer, lol....I have a feeling, she'll be hopping a plane headed east before long, lol.....

Ok, Rosebud, now I have this vision in my head of Mary making squinty eyes at Jana, lol.....Sausage gravy was never something I thought I'd go for but if my sister heard you were making it, she'd be knocking on your door...I'm going to have to give it a try, as they say, try it you'll like it!......
You're not alone with the cobwebs on the brain...Not sure what's wrong this morning but they don't want to leave.......

I had every intention on leaving the house early and getting things done and be back before lunch...Well, it's almost lunch time and I'm still in my robe....The list that I had made last night has grown so I guess I'd better get moving or I won't be back until dinner time.......

And of course I have no idea what might be on my menu for dinner, have to think about lunch 1st., lol.....

Good morning!

We will have leftovers, if I can keep Ethan out of them. He already planned to show up for lunch - cauliflower with cheese sauce and mashed potatoes and gravy. Sarah roasts her cauliflower and Ethan says it is burnt, and loves my way of cooking it.

Mary - now ,all I did was to suggest a way to use scraps - but it is fun and I'll gladly take the squinty eye looks! Yours will be a wonderful masterpiece!

MaryR - love biscuits and gravy - anytime! I just made me some on Sunday morning.

Becca - quick is good, now take a nice rest!

Irish- you need one of those pocket hoses - they shrink to nothing and are easy to carry around, then expand to a full size hose.

Getting my kitchen back in order and then will head to the messy Batt Cave. Either to straighten or continue to make a mess. One is more fun than the other!
