SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, May 24th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun May 24, 2020 5:45 am

Good morning!

Our guests arrived about 4:30 yesterday. We were ready with drinks, a campfire, and a good dinner. They seemed happy to be off the road! Of course, when they turned their truck and trailer around in our back yard, Vicki did come after them, yelling. So now they are up at speed on that front. Al knows Vicki, of course, even from her sane days and he'd warned Mark, but was surprised to have a run in with her only minutes after they arrived! After 30 years of police work, though, he can handle most any situation.

Not sure how today will play out. They have things to load into that cargo trailer but it won't take all day, I'm sure. Most of our visitors want to see Seattle, the ferries, the ocean beaches, Mt St Helens, Mt. Rainier, wine country, hiking trails, etc. But even the beaches are closed to visitors right now. So our entertainment options are limited.

CAn't stay to chat this morning - I have a big breakfast to cook - sausages, hashbrowns, eggs, toast, strawberries. And supper will be ?? We might do pizza. We might do leftovers.

Good morning!

Mary - so nice to have company! Maybe they could still drive by all the sites. I have a beautiful picture we took from the top of the Space Needle of Mt Rainier. It looks as if the mountain is just floating in the air.

Dinner - Michael found some banned in the freezer and requested that. He usually doesn't ask, so we will have that. Some salsa on the banned and a salad.

I got caught up on my cat quilt blocks. Ready for the new block in June. The is a stash user up quilt. I raided what I had to make it. Even have a piece for the back. Only thing I am short of, is the dashing between the blocks. I want a blue, and most of those pieces are not quite big enough. So I will get the blocks ready and the last thing will be a trip, in a few weeks, over to my LQS. My design wall have quite a few on going projects on it.

We did solve the batting hammock problem yesterday. My idea ran past the engineer, and he saw what I needed and did it better. Of course! So now the hammock is useful and my batting isn't on the floor. That drove me batty! :)

Yesterday was Kate's BD. Aaron and the girls made her a cake. The girls loved helping out. Especially Lila with tasting! Aaron knows a bit of how to use cake decorating tips, so tried to make it a bit fancy.

The sun finally won out over the clouds and we will warm up.

Our Dish receiver is slowly biting the dust. We have a fan blowing air as the cooling fan inside stopped working. The new receiver is on its way and will be here this week. We hope this old one lasts as we have recordings we want to transfer to the new one.

All my orders of things have arrived. Stu said, here at our Amazon, they hired another 800 workers. That will cut down on some of Stu's OT, but he is fine with that. He is now one of the longer workers, he has been there since November! LOL. The building he works in is absolutely HUGE. And there are 4 of those buildings here in SLC.

Mary - yes, Coco county is Contra Costa County. That is where I was born and raised. Lived there until we moved here.

Time to scoot,
Hugs,
Jana

Mary, I bet it's nice having company again. Bummer Vicki got nasty with them. I sure hope the 13 year old doesn't get bored.

Jana, sure hope your Dish holds on long enough to get the new one. Glad you got a fix for the batting.
I knew the engineer would be able to do it. That's great that Aaron had helpers to make the cake. Baking with little ones is fun. Messy, but fun.

Becca, I have a table and chairs out back that I wipe down daily. I have a vinyl table covering so it's easy. The couch has a cover and then a quilt on top of that because of the dogs. That way I can just was the quilt. The boys like to be on the couch with mama.

Well I need to sort some things out in the garage. I've been taking stuff out there and it's a little too messy for me. I hate clutter.

I didn't order in last night, so maybe tonight. Lasagna sounds good to me.

Have a lovely day.

Good Afternoon! Beautiful day here today. I think we will be about 72*, perfect!

Tonight we will have grilled chicken, potatoes, salad and vegetable.

Last evening for dessert I made Pineapple Whip. If you have ever been to Disneyland it is served at the Tiki Room. I looked up the recipe on Dole, but when I made it it tasted more like banana than pineapple. I doubled the amount of pineapple and decreased the banana a little bit and then it was the right consistency and tasted like pineapple. It is literally all fruit with only a teaspoon of powdered sugar, so I figured it was a healthy dessert.

I have been listening to "Lizzy Albright and the Attic Window" on youtube. It is a great story. I will be listening to Chapter 29 today. It isn't the end of the book, but it is the last one they will be releasing. I have already ordered the book, so will get it by the end of June.

I will be doing some cleaning, cooking and quilting today. I might even wash my car. It really needs washing.

Good afternoon from warm, sunny, summery, SW. Pa...It finally hit and it's more than welcome....I think we're to have high temps all week, maybe even hit 90......And to think, just last week, I had the fireplace on an evening or 2......

Mary, so glad your company arrived and bet they didn't expect entertainment on their welcome....But, like you said, they know how to handle it....As you know, I've never been out that way but always remember Jim saying, as he was getting ready to head for Japan and then onto Korea, the sight of seeing Mt. Ranier was breathtaking, one he never forgot...Hopefully, your company will be able to visit most of the sights.....Oh my, your breakfast sounds yummy...Was just thinking this morning, I think one of the things I really miss is having that Sunday morning breakfast with Jim and our friends after Mass.....It's funny, how things will just pop in your mind every once in awhile and you realize how important they were.....
I noticed the other day, you had posted that your trip east might be postponed....Kathy did tell me, she rebooked out trip until Sept....I think, it's best, we just take 1 week or maybe 1 day at a time....

Becca, Getting all ready for your company...Whole lot of excitement in your household....I too like breakfast for dinner but then, I'm Ok with anything at any meal....And now, being alone, boy do I come up with some dillies, lol......

I haven't done very much and the day is getting away from me....I think maybe I over did yesterday and the old body is pleading for a day off....I did get the cemetery taken care of and it looks so nice..Before coming home, I stopped and picked up 5 bags of mulch and 5 bags of special dirt so Ruby was anxious to get home.....And then got home and started on my beds (which I have none)...I planted a row of marigolds along the shed, then started digging along my front porch...By then Andy my mower came and unloaded the car, thank goodness...(I might have been using the stuff right out of the car had he not been around)....I only did one side of the porch so tomorrow, will tackle the other...But, I'm still waiting for the landscaper to come or at least call about shrubs...Patience is not one of my virtues, I want it now!, lol.....

For my dinner, I might fire up the grill and have a burger....I made a small dish of potato salad so I'm ready to picnic......Andy's mom is having a birthday today and they asked me to stop down for cake..(so far away, 3 houses)..I can't believe how lucky I am to have such super neighbors.....I keep telling Jim, he did a good job in "helping me make this decision"....

You all have a great rest of the day....(You know, Cindy used to end her calls by saying, "have a great rest of the day")....Oh my, I miss her so much......

Happy eating...................
