SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, May 14th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu May 14, 2020 1:21 am

Good morning,

Our rainy yesterday turned out to be quite nice with a mostly sunny afternoon. I got my yo yo quilt together and now only have a few finishing touches left to do. I wonder how I'm going to quilt it . . . . :? I did go to the fabric sale and good news!! The LQS has reopened, 5 days/wk, 5 hrs/day. And the 40% sale was on! I picked up some great bargains for an average of about $5.50/yd. So I'll be spending the rest of the week washing fabric and putting it out on the clotheslines to dry. I prefer the lines to the dryer so they don't warp as badly.

Those sew-in people have been talking about washing windows. I keep forgetting I have windows and they keep reminding me. And my windows really could use a splash of Windex. I'm starting to realize the fairies aren't coming, so I may have to start - UGH - doing a few windows a day. Or!! I might put my second set of spring swap blocks together. There's only 10 blocks so it will go quickly. It's my last UFO.

BECCA - sorry your TGN is flaring up again. My mom was plagued with it and she really suffered. I hope it settles down again soon. Actually, the last several quilts I've done were with ready made blocks from swaps and lottos. So no speed sewing. Just leisurely sewing. It doesn't take long too add sashing and a border. I will be quilting about half of the quilt tops myself. A freehand meander pattern. I'm not into the computerized quilting. But there are a few I really want done with Bill's fancy patterns. I think we should meet at Lori's for supper - sounds like there's something there for both of us! - er, I mean all of us. Guess we need to invite Lori, too.

JANA - You'll be happy with your new tablet. I got a new Dell laptop at Costco in December. Usually I have a frustrating time adjusting to new electronic things, but this thing is a breeze. Love it. Glad you solved your light mystery! And had fun doing it! Stu won't forget "the time my crazy grandparents and I . . ." And yes, we actually have that Windex for the hose. But someone is always too busy. But I suppose I better be careful about who I nag about windows until after I get the insides done! lol! Glad Aaron can find some amusement in his job! That's a lot of tires to change!

LORI - I'm so sad to hear about your grand-kitty. We all love our animals so much. Hugs for your DD. And as you predicted, I was smiling all the way home from Tacoma with my bounty! They also had Gutermann's thread on sale for $2/spool so I picked up some of the colors I was low on. I wore my mask! But only 2 other customers in the store. We all looked like we'd come in to rob the place.

IRISH - Our Joann's is open but only 4 hrs a day and a limit of 30 customers at a time. Is Baby Girl allowed outside? Foxy goes wherever Foxy wants, but all of my kids have only indoor kitties. Bummer about the matching curtain. No chance it might show up yet? But if you get to go to Joann's, this could be a good thing, losing your curtain!

Supper tonite will be baked potato topped by steamed broccoli, cheese sauce, and bacon bits. I made the mistake of letting Bill know about the planned broccoli, though, so he may try to talk me into something else. And I might let him . . .

What's your supper plan?

Becca, we could do feta cheese instead.

Mary, so glad you went to the LQS. It definitely gives you a little sense of normalcy.

Yesterday I went over to a friend house. We sat in the backyard and three of us chatted.
It was nice to see and talk in person. Today our farmer's market opens. I will be there at
4pm when it starts. Can't wait to get some fresh veggies, fruits, and honey. The have wild
flower honey that is my favorite. I ran out in March. The fruits will be so wonderful.

For dinner I'm definitely going to bake the chicken. I didn't do it yesterday, because I didn't get
home until 5 and I didn't want to deal with it. I'll probably put in a small potato to bake and
we'll see what veggies I get at the market.

Have a lovely day.
Lori 8-)

Good afternoon from a warm, but very wet, SW. Pa....This morning was perfect but then the clouds rolled in along with that wet stuff...I was talking to my sister and she said, she needed to get outside and mow before the rains came....I was going to send her a text and ask if she wanted to borrow my big umbrella......

Mary, so glad you made the trip and very happy to hear about your quilt shop.... I head there is a shop not too far from me and you know I'm going to be checking it out...Our governor will be lifting the ban on quite a few things tomorrow and I'm just hoping and praying we don't have a sudden surge of virus patients...It's funny, in talking to those who really don't believe it's a big deal, can't wait to "get out" and then most of our friends are being very cautious....Which brings me to Kathy and Virginia Beach...She texted to tell me, it's open and the trip is on...I still have misgivings, might just tell them to take the car and go...I have another week or so to decide, I guess......
Baby Girl is an inside fur baby...A couple of times she's gotten out by mistake and then can't wait to get back in...I've taken her out on the porch and as soon as she see's someone or hears a noise, panics to get back in...I often thought I'd like to get a halter type thing and try to walk her but there again, I'd need 6 people, 5 to help get her into the halter and the 6th to drive us to the ER...

Becca, hate to hear your having pain but sure hope the shots do help....But, it sounds like the pain isn't slowing you down.....As you work harder, I just get lazier, lol....Jim always liked baloney...Do you fry it? I think that might be a Pittsburgh thing.....

Jana, really want to thank you for the weather we had yesterday...It was perfect! Now today is a different story but that's OK......I really do think you and the family should be writing a book...Out chasing lights, tire changing, all the highway stories, really could be a best seller....

Lori, I had told you, I could eat a sandwich every day but when you mentioned baked chicken, I'm on my way....I haven't baked a chicken for quite awhile...There again, one of Jim's favorite meals...Our farmer's markets haven't opened yet....Nothing like that fresh stuff to complete any meal.....

Well, I best get moving and at least try to accomplish something...With all the talk about windows, mine sure could use some cleaning (some still have the stickers on) but gosh darn, it's raining...Can't go out and play in the dirt either so might just have to work on my embroidered blocks.....

Not sure what's on the menu for dinner other than Lori's baked chicken....Will there be afters or do you want me to bring something?

Hope you all have a great rest of the day.....

Happy eating...............

Good afternoon!

I have my termite over and in a bit we are making chocolate cupcakes to go with a fabulous new frosting recipe I now have. It's called American buttercream. Saw it on a Alton Brown show. It is really easy.

12 oz sifted powdered sugar
9 oz room temp butter
3 oz room temp shortening
1 oz sour cream
2 oz buttermilk
Pinch of salt
1 tsp vanilla

Put powdered sugar, butter, shortening and salt in mixer and beat until very creamy, light and fluffy. About 3 or 4 minutes. Scape down the sides and add vanilla, sour cream and buttermilk. Beat together for about 30 more seconds. Spread on cake. Very yummy!

Not much else here. Termite has the old Looney Tunes cartoons on. He loves Road Runner.

You know I could write a book, but no one would believe it! We have way too much fun in this family.

Dinner - I have leftover taco fixings.

We are very happy here in Utah. The governor just moved our level to yellow - low risk. Opened up many things. That makes it possible for us to go shopping and maybe even take in some cotton fumes! There are a few places still under the higher level, just 5 areas.

Well, my assistant duties are needed outside.

Hugs,
Jana
