SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, May 12

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue May 12, 2020 5:50 am

Good morning,

We're supposed to be about 60* with off/on rain showers. A good thing - our yard needs a big drink of water. A quiet day yesterday and I plan another one today. I got my March lotto blocks together to make a 51x70 quilt. They were 16" blocks and I only had 6 of them so it went quickly. Choosing the fabrics to use took more time and sewing it! And I only have 2-1/2 more strips of yo yo's to stitch so that will soon be in the can, too.

Albert is supposed to go home from the hospital today. No definitive biopsy results yet, but I think the doctors have them and they are conferencing about what to do next so when they talk to Al they will have a plan of attack in place.

LORI - for sure, I don't have a mosaic room! lol! I couldn't handle another place for Bill to make a mess! I'd forgotten your hubby does mosaics. Will you be sharing the room now? Maybe you should introduce Dad to Valerie's dad. Same age, both living in sewing rooms, lots in common.

BECCA - I haven't gotten the knack of cooking in smaller quantities, either. So we either just have the same thing 2 or 3 nights in a row or I freeze portions for another night. Keep those prayers coming. Albert isn't through this yet. Thanks!

JANA - your masks are purrfect! Maybe you are setting a new wedding trend! You are contemplating the color of thread to use for stitching down your cats? Are you doing a blanket stitch or ?? I used black once (on cats, actually) and it gave an old fashioned look. But I usually use a shade darker than the fabric. Adds a bit of dimension. Hope your thread ships soon. My elastic from Northern Threads arrived yesterday. So 2 of my orders have arrived within about a week, and 2 are still in transit.

CAROL - polishing floors sounds like a lot of work! That audio book sounds interesting. I listen to audio books all the time. Especially while sewing.

TINA - sorry about the mosquito bites. So hard not to scratch. I've never thought of dabbing liquid Benedryl but it makes the most sense of any other remedies I've tried - calamine, baking soda, etc. Hope they are better today.

I think I'll make a pot of chicken noodle soup for tonite. I usually make my soups in the crockpot and just let 'em go for the day. I made bread yesterday so we can have toast with the soup and a salad, too, if we're feeling more 'peckish'.

What's your plan?

Good afternoon!

Another short note - still waiting on decision on a new tablet or a laptop. That may take awhile.

Dinner- not sure on our weather, so may be too cold to grill something. Then dinner will be tacos.

Nothing else new here.

Hugs,
Jana

Mary, glad to hear you brother will be going home today. Hope he does well. No, we won't be sharing the room. He can do mosaics in the garage, which is actually a better place for that kind of stuff. He doesn't do it as often as he thought. Chicken noodle soup sounds good. I bought chicken for that very reason today. I like bone in chicken when I'm using it for soup. It has more flavor.

Jana, that's a hard decision. Why not get both?

Becca, I like to freeze meals too. That way you can just pull them out and dinner is almost ready. We went through most of my frozen meals since the stay at home order. We usually eat out at least once a week. I've only ordered take home twice. It's a bit of a hassle.

Well I went to my LQS today. Not too many people and everyone was wearing masks. I got background fabric for 2 quilts. It was nice to be out and about.

For dinner I'm going to make a BLT w/avocado and a spinach salad with cranberries, blue cheese crumbles, walnuts, and a raspberry vinaigrette. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Have a lovely evening.

Lori 8-)
