SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Dec 30th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Dec 30, 2019 6:00 am

Good morning,

We have light rain this morning. Helps with the mud wallow that is our back yard, where all the trucks and equipment have been driving on the grass. It's not actually lawn but field grass that we keep mowed. But now - you'd never know grass had ever been there! Bill is bringing in a load of crushed rock, I think. I have been resistant because I think it will look UGLY, and the mower will throw rocks later in the summer. But even I admit we have to do something.

Thank you all for your comments on my Scrappy Star. I looked on line and the pattern is available. One place is at the quilting company - quiltingcompany.com. While it looks kind of complicated, it actually was an easy pattern and a great scrap user-upper.

JANA - well, wasn't that a game! Congrats! Can't believe we lost with seconds to play and only by inches! Your team played a scoche better than my team and much as I hate to admit it, SF deserved the win! :D But we'll be back to play another year! I hope you call the doctor's office today and get some news. GOOD news! They will probably tell you that it was the holidays that messed things up. You have reminded me that I've heard nothing about my dexascan from Dec 11. Guess I need to make a call today, too.

BECCA - hope the TV thing is working for you. And our yard is now as good as it gets in winter. I saw my daffodils and bluebells are up! About 3"!

LORI - sometimes I enjoy yard work, too. But here it's mostly fighting to keep the woods at bay. We don't have a flowerbed & lawn kind of yard. I'm trying to make the yard more easy care so I'm letting the woods reclaim some areas I've tried to keep clean and kind of "outlining" those areas with 2-man rocks. Anything behind the rocks, the woods can have. In front of the rocks I will keep up the fight.

IRISH - you are so right! My neighbor laughs because any yard work done at their house is done by HER! Not her landscaping hubby! Are you feeling any better? Rest is essential. No better excuse for letting the chores go. Did Kathy and Tim go home yet? Wish they could stay longer.

I have some boiled potatoes in the fridge so I think we might have a scramble tonite. I have bacon bits, but also kielbasa and eggs, onions and peppers, that all need to be used up. What's sounding good to you?

Good morning!
Mary, wouldn't top soil be better than rocks? It would level out back out and get rid of the ruts and raise it a little so it doesn't make quite as big a pond.
Jana and Mary, what a game that was! Frankie's Broncos won too!
Irish, rest will get you better, Baby Girl knows ❤
Chickie, make you a gmail account and all your info will be backed up to it. I learned this a couple years ago when we were with Verizon, the tech "help" deleted every contact I had! Kevin told me about it. So I signed up for a gmail account (totally free) and all my appointments and contacts are saved on my phone and in my google account. You do have to tell it yes that you want it backed up to your Google account when it asks you.
Today should be my first real day of vacation! I need to pay bills, do laundry and sew!
We are 21 with a real feel of 16 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶 it's cold and unless something comes up I'm not stepping foot outside! Our high will only be in the 40's.
I think I'll thaw red Chile meat and beans for supper so no real cooking for me, just heating.

Becca, I love Dolly Parton's movies! Coat of Many Colors and Christmas of Many Colors are so heartwarming and remind me of my dad's side of the family, they were all raised pretty much the same. My dad is the oldest of 18 and they are from easy back in the hills of Virginia.

Good morning!

We are at 18 now and will stay sub freezing for most of the week for our highs. Even added a extra quilt! Snowing too. Good day to stay in, but alas I do need to go out and get a few groceries. Good thing my Highlander is sure footed with all wheel drive.

Mary - you do realize that our teams may meet one more time this season. A third rematch during the playoffs. At that point I think that the Superbowl will be anti-climatic! It was a great game!

Tina - enjoy the day off! The Broncos not only won, but with that, knocked any chance for the Raiders playoff hopes out the window.

Dinner will be the soup that didn't get made last night. I will make up a batch of spinach dip for Michael. We will have a bunch of snicky snacks to munch on for New Year's eve. We will be home, as we don't go out. Utah will be playing in the Alamo Bowl on New Year's Eve, so I will be watching that and sewing. Then the Rose parade on New Year's morning. One day I hope to see the parade in person. Watched the parade since I was little and Sarah has marched in it during high school with the band. So did my ditzy SIL. They went to the same high school, just different years.

Time to stir up a batch of cranberry nut muffins for my breakfast.

Enjoy,
Jana

Maryz, I don't like muddy areas either. The only thing about rocks, is that things grow up through them. Even if you put a barrier down.

Irish, I have 2 cats that like to sit in my lap. One in the morning and one the rest of the day. As soon as I sit down, Molly with just sit on my lap until I make her move. Then of course we have the 2 big dogs that like to sit in my lap as well. I'm never lonely. lol

Tina, Chili sounds good. I think that's what I'll make for dinner.

Have a lovely day.

It is cool here this morning too, at least for SoCal. High today will only be in mid 50s.

I plan to have chili today too. it is in the freezer waiting to be thawed. It will taste good on a cold night.

I am quilting on my mid-arm. I am on the first border. I have three go arounds on it and have finished the most difficult one. This is the quilt I made for Eleanor's 40th in pink and greens. I have entered it into our Guild's Quilt Show in mid February so need to work on it daily until finished.

Mary - Would a ground cover keep the weeds at bay in the area you are putting rocks? Unfortunately you would probably have to keep the ground cover at bay.
