SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Dec 29

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Dec 29, 2019 5:42 am

Good morning,

Well, my sweetie figured out what to do with my unplanned day yesterday. Odd for him to plan yard work. Bill has never believed in Bill doing yard work but he said he was going to to go rake leaves and do a few other things. When I picked myself up off the floor I knew I had to go out with him because what he was planning definitely needed supervision. The landscapers only re-did a small portion of the yard, right up next to the house. We needed to do some fall clean-up, pruning, and rock rearranging where it transitioned from new yard to old yard. Three hours later it looked pretty good! But I was wiped out! However it's done now until spring.

Before we went outside, I had time to finish up the Scrappy Stars quilt I was working on and post a photo over in PHOTOS. Whew! It was a project of many pieces. I know just how I want to quilt it, but that won't happen until after all the Christmas stuff is put away. After finishing the yard, I refreshed my hand projects, partly for TV work and to get ready to take camping in a couple of weeks. Besides hand embroidering the fifty state birds & flowers (I've been stuck on #30 for quite a while now), I'm sewing my yo-yo's onto 3-1/2" strips. The strips get sewn together and make a quilt! Eventually. 38 strips. I have 6 done. So I prepped 8 more, measuring and pinning the yo-yo's in place. I tried machine stitching the yo-yo's down but that didn't work so well so they became this year's hand project. Last year's was making all the yo-yo's!

TINA - glad to see you at the table! I was afraid you'd caught whatever Holly had. Sounds like your 'vacation' hasn't been much of a vacation. I hope this week you can hang out a Closed sign on your door and REST. Or Sew. Whatever recharges your batteries. Your weather is unreal! Can't wait to tell our friends who said they wanted to go south to NM looking for warmth. You are colder than we are!

BECCA - sounds like your gathering went very well! And you already have everything packed up and put away and the house cleaned and back to normal! You must wear a cape because you are definitely Super Becca!! I decorate for myself, too. Hardly anyone sees our tree and all our decorations but that's OK. Your family left you well-stocked! So nice to have a freezer full of leftovers (and firstovers!) on those nights when you just don't want to cook!

JANA - Hard to believe that Ethan is going to be EIGHT! Seems like we were just all waiting for him to be born! Happy Birthday to him and to Emma, too! In my mind she's just a baby, too! My leftover recipes usually morph into huge amounts, too. How does that happen? I assume you haven't heard any results on Michael's test. Here's my theory - if the results weren't good, they would be letting you know ASAP. So the longer the wait, the better the news, right? But I personally think it's unconscionable to not get results to people quickly. It's unnecessary torture. I would call on Monday. Things slip through cracks all the time. I'll meet you on the field later today. Will you get the game there? It's probably the most important game of the year for both teams. And not to cause you to shake in your boots, but Seattle has won 9 of the last 10 games our two teams have played. Just sayin' . . . . ;)

LORI - always nice to have you at the table! What did you sew yesterday? Since we seem to be in Texas with Autumn every other Christmas, I only decorate when we are home. But I do it for me. I love Christmas and I love being all decorated. Though that being said, I can't wait to start taking it all down but not until after New Year's Day. We have friends coming for dinner that day who are bringing another couple that we just met so we'll leave everything up to be festive.

CHICKIE - whew! glad you got your new phone! I can help with some phone numbers and addresses if you would like. But I can't help with Doyal's medical appts. Guess you'll need to call doctors offices. I write everything on our paper calendar in the kitchen. That way we can both see what our near future holds at any time. Have you gotten any results from Doyal's U/S yet?

CAROL - Happy New Year! Great to have you at the table!

IRISH - hope you are doing OK in your recliner with Baby Girl and a good book. How is your nephew doing? And is your sis having more surgery in January?

Our ham/scalloped potatoes dish was pretty good last night. I put it all into one casserole and threw in the leftover green beans just to clear the fridge. Bill really liked it and we have enough for tonite. We had raw veggies with hummus before supper so we did get in some vitamins. Texted with my oldest brother, Gene in Alaska, while we were both fixing supper. Turns out he dislikes all veggies but he will eat liver! I told him he's no brother of mine! He doesn't like F--H but he was fixing it anyway because his wife likes it and he's the cook now. He's a better husband than I am a wife, I guess.

Any thoughts yet on your supper for tonite?

Good morning!

Mary - oh yes, I do get to watch the game. So glad NBC used the flex option and made this game the big game of the day. I am sure that Aaron will be over to watch as they don't have regular TV, just Disney. He got a new 49ers camo sweat shirt from his MIL for Christmas, so he will add that to his wearing collection. Go 9ers! It will be a great game, and could happen again, since both teams are headed to the playoffs.

Not much here. Church is a bit later this morning. We are burrrrrr cold, about 14. Barely got to 25 for the high yesterday.

Enjoying all the decorations. They stay up until after New Year's, then I will put them all away. Takes to long to get them all up, to rush the take down. My game plan in the old days, was to have everything put away by Daniel's BD, which is the third of January.

Dinner - I think a cheesy potato soup would taste good tonight. I make one that is very similar to what Marie Callendars made. Easy too.

We had a nurse from our primary care doctor call the other day. She said she was there to make sure that all the insurances played nicely together and that Michael was getting everything he needed. To me, a bit cryptic, since we still haven't got the report back. I am trying to be patient, but that patience is wearing a bit thin. Monday will be 11 days of the 7 - 10 days.

Enjoy!
Jana

Maryz, I enjoy yard work. It nice to be outside. Glad you got your quilt top finished too.

Jana, I can't believe Ethan is already 8. Time sure flies by. I bet he keeps Sarah on her toes.

Becca, what movie did you watch?

Chickie, bummer you lost your calendar. I keep a digital and hard copy. When I write things down I tend to remember them more.

Well last night I made a ham/potato soup. It was delicious. Jana, it kind of tasted like the Marie Calendars soup, but better because it had ham chunks. I put cheddar cheese on top.

We will probably have leftover soup tonight.

Have a lovely day.

Lori 8-)

Good afternoon from a very dreary, soggy, SW. Pa....I was just thinking, if I put the car outside I might get a free wash....

Mary, I can imagine how nice your yard is looking...Lots of work but look at the results...I often wished one of the boys would have gone into landscaping but then again, it probably would have been a case of the shoemaker's family going with out shoes...And, look at you and getting those projects done.....I've looked at the closet full of projects and then just close the door.....

Becca, you are indeed a "super" gal....I too decorate for me and sometimes it's not very much..But, what little I have now will stay up, maybe until next weekend, maybe.....Are there any new pictures of the twins that we can see? I'll bet they're really something.....

Chickie, glad to hear you're back "on line" but what a pain trying to put everything back in the phone.....Of course, there are probably those you might not want so good time to eliminate, lol....

Jana, It is hard to believe the "birthday boy" is that old....Time is really flying by, much too quickly...I normally don't watch pro football but will join you and Mary on the field tonight....No favorites, just hope for a good game......

Better cut this short, time to hit my recliner again.....Thank goodness I don't need to go anywhere or have anything pressing, lol.....But, Baby Girl is waiting for my lap...She is so funny, knows my routine pretty well and will sit in front of the recliner and give me the eye......I'm getting my fill of Hallmark movies and of course watched Notre Dame and our Penguins win yesterday (sometimes even with my eyes closed).....

As for my dinner, probably a poached egg and toast, still have cookies if I need something sweet.....

You all have a great day.....

Happy eating...............
