Landscape quilt, SS gift

Post by WeeOne » Sun Dec 15, 2019 9:05 am

This is the Wall hanging I made for Denise. I had fun making it and plan to try some more. I found that using a zig zag stitch on the edge was much better than just straight stitching. I had started to stitch it down when I left for Colorado last month and was very happy the old 1530 Bernina I loaned DD1 still runs great. I had taken a photo of Longs Peak a couple years back and that's what I used as my quide for designing this. It's about 13" x 17". Thanks for looking.

LYNN......Your Landscape piece is awesome!!! I have always wanted to make one of these but don't know where to start. Do You have a book/instructions, or did you just go for it? It is sooooo pretty! What a wonderful gift!

Linda, I took a class years ago. I had a 36" x 24" Landscape ready to stitch down. It was rolled up on a portable design wall, flannel backed tablecloth on a noodle. It was sitting, on end, on the floor in my sewing room back in 2013 when we had the first flood, it was ruined! It bummed me out for a long time. I took another class a couple years ago, but hadn't stitched it down yet. This is my first finished landscape.

The teacher suggested the book, Quick Little Landscape Quilts. Also, Sewing with Nancy has some landscape shows that are helpful. She suggest a book, but I don't have it with me, and don't remember the name of it.

I love my landscape wallhanging so much. Lyn had really did great jobs. She had also sent me a printed copy of the Longs Peak photo she took. WOW! it is so realistic,it really looks like a real painting.
