SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Dec 14th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Dec 14, 2019 5:47 am

Good morning,

Yesterday I got everything on my to-do list done. Finished the last FGV block, cut some of the sashing for it and all the cornerstones. Then I put together the Nov lotto blocks my SS gave me and when I find backing for it, it will be ready for quilting. Then I spent 3 or 4 hours in the kitchen, mixing, baking, and cleaning. The work crew did a lot of hard work outside and will be back at it today, to finish the job. Vicki was out at the back of the property, right on the property line, hiding in the bushes, scrutinizing everything that went on. But she didn't trespass or speak to us at all. Bill had warned the crew she might make trouble. Joe, the owner of the landscaping company, is a neighbor and knows all about Vicki, but his crew had to be brought up to speed - just in case we had an 'encounter'.

Today is the annual Christmas/birthday lunch with my 3 former co-workers. The original plan was for brunch at 11am. But got a text yesterday saying "See you all tomorrow at 12:00!" This confused me so I asked if she had changed the time because she'd orginally set the time for 11. Her answer was "works for me". So I'm still confused but I'm thinking that means she's keeping it at 11. It matters because this event usually goes on for 3 hours and we have to leave here at 3:30 for a holiday dinner in Olympia. It will really crunch me on time if she meant noon. It seems everything somehow got jammed into this one weekend and I'm having to do a little scrambling to make it all fit. :D

TINA - So sorry to hear Holly came down sick, too. How was Jaz's concert? Was she able to go? I know a lot of people who routinely put a few drops of bleach in their dishwater. We do it in the RV, especially. Smart of you to do that, and all your Lysoling, too. I hope it works for you and you keep that virus at bay! Is it sweeping the school? Here, if more than about 25% of the student body is sick, they shut the school for a day or two and crews come in and disinfect EVERYTHING in the entire building.

BECCA - What did you bake yesterday? I did chocolate cupcakes and blueberry muffins. I will probably freeze most of them. I haven't baked cupcakes in years. I looked at my muffin tins and am thinking I should probably replace them. They were wedding gifts 49 years ago and are all scratched and bent out of shape.

JANA - nice that your "runner" found your dollie sox! Bummer about Ethan's boots. Things just aren't made to last anymore. And yes, my Snowball cookies are also called Russian Teacakes, Mexican Wedding Cakes, and my mom called them Walnut Puffs. My son's favorite.

BECKY - I love beans over potatoes - fried, boiled, whatever. I will be making that one day soon. I keep forgetting about them. thanks for bringing them to mind for me again!

CHICKIE texted me late yesterday that she got to spend some time in her sewing room and was working frantically on Christmas gifts, trying to catch up.

Tonite we're invited to friends in Olympia. Not sure what supper will be but knowing this friend, it will probably be something like ostrich patties with purple quinoa and scalloped rutabaga. lol! It's always a strange menu. Bill groans whenever he hears we are going to Marc & Sherri's for dinner and has been psyching himself up for it. lol. But there will be good wine, so that will help and he will be happy.

I hope your supper requires no help (unless you want it ;) ) or psyching up!

Good morning!
I was up very very early, before 5. I had my very first dream about mom last night, it was a very short dream but she looked so good and wasn't sick at all! I had a sad/happy cry because it woke me up. Since she passed I've had 3 nightmares and no dreams at all, which is very strange because I used to dream all the time.
I did get in my sewing room early and start straightening a few things, it was getting a little cramped in there, now I have room to play again. I thought I'd be in there all day today but Holly has a workshop day and has to go so we're watching the kids. It's supposed to get windy today, I'm really really hoping hard that it waits till noon or after so Frankie can have all 3 kids outside for awhile, I have hats and coats here for them all! He's supposed to finish three outside decisions today and I thought that would give me a little break and they love being outside so it's a win win! Easton and Preston didn't take a nap at all yesterday so I was a bit frazzled by the time they left at 7:30.
I gotta go check my freezer and see what I'm making for lunch, maybe I can talk Frankie into getting us a subway for supper instead of me cooking 3 times today.

Good early afternoon from a very dreary, wet, chilly, SW. Pa...AND so far no snow......

Mary, how come you can go days without needing to run and then all at once, everything...Never fails but some how, you get through it....Really had to laugh at the menu choice, sounds so..."different"....And, also glad you're not having any problems with Vicki...She must understand enough to not cause problems...But, then you wonder if it wouldn't be better if she did....
I was to go to lunch with a couple of gals but I cancelled...On the way home from the hospital last night, my sister and I stopped at Bob Evans for a late dinner and not sure if what I ate didn't agree or the "busyness" is catching up but it's best if I just stayed home....

Becca, sorry to hear about yet another relative...Always sad but when it happens around a holiday, it's worse..You've sure had your share...My sister and I were just talking about this same thing yesterday...We don't have that many relatives left and it's just her and I....But, life goes on....

Jana, I'll write real quiet since you're at a breakfast....Glad to hear you've found Celebrex...It's a miracle drug, isn't it? Jim took it for years and really helped his back..My sister also took it for years until they had to find a stronger drug to treat her arthritis...So glad to hear this is helping.....

Need to cut this short...Sometimes I think my brain really has gone on vacation....While visiting my nephew yesterday, I was showing him pictures on my phone, sat it down and then walked off without it...So, today, on their way home from the hospital, I'm meeting them along the way to pick up my phone....Dumb, dumb, dumb! And I also can't believe my nephew is coming home...Major surgery on Thursday, 22 staples in his back, can hardly move and he's coming home...I get a tummy ache and feel I should be bedfast......

As for dinner, might be just toast but we'll see.....Certainly won't be anything like Mary will be having, lol....

You all have a great day....Hope there's sunshine in your area...

Happy eating....

Tina, as you can see, my brain really isn't working....Sorry, didn't mean to pass over you.....
I too agree, you've been handed a lot..I honestly don't know how you do it...But, hoping your day goes the way you want it and Frankie brings home that Subway......

Hi there y'all!

Just got back home from the breakfast party and put all the dishes from cooking this morning in the dishwashers. Michael is sweeping for me. This is our deal when I cut his hair. He sweeps up the mess. And boy I have been slothful in cutting his hair - he really needed this haircut! When it gets long, he looks like a bad hair day for Einstein, who stuck his finger in a light socket. And Michael detests his hair when it gets that way.

Just thought I share an Ethan with you. This morning at the party, they set up a karaoke machine and had anyone who wanted, sing. Well Erhan and his friend TJ, both wanted to sing the song, I want a Hippopotmus for Christmas, in front of about 200 people. Sarah videoed them singing and we are saving it to show at their wedding receptions or blackmail, which ever may be needed. It was fun watching two 8 year olds singing. TJ is who Ethan walks home with every day and lives just up the street from me. They did a really great job singing. So I ordered a stuffed hippo to give Ethan this year. I have a small Santa hat that I will dress the hippo with as well.

Well, off to sew, Sarah finished the face of Gracie's doll.

Enjoy,
Jana
