Good morning,
We had a rainy, breezy day yesterday. It was awesome! Summer gets so stale after 3 months. Everything is fresh this morning, if still a little wet.
Today is moving day for Ernie. His surgical wound has gotten so infected, though, and since he is palliative care, nothing but antimicrobial bandages is being done for him. I asked if he could at least have oral antibiotics but they feel the side effects would be too hard on him. He is in a lot of pain so he is getting pain meds. He needs surgery on it but he is so weak they feel he won't survive the surgery. So we are bringing him to the adult family home. At least he'll be more comfortable and in a homelike atmosphere where he may actually improve a tiny bit - but we know not enough. It's a waiting game now.
On the Vicki front, a strange car was in her yard for about 25 minutes yesterday. Vicki doesn't get company of any kind except her kids once a week. After they left she was in the yard between our houses, yelling gibberish for about 3-4 minutes, sounding angry. Which is what makes me believe that the visitor may have been from APS. She would know who called them. Earlier in the morning she was outside calling our dog and strewing something on the ground. I have no idea what. You can be certain Scottie is NEVER outside without us and is always on a leash unless we're using the tractor. He won't leave the tractor.
I got binding on the fidget quilt for Ernie but not sure he'll ever use it. Not to fear, we know 4 people with Alz so it won't go to waste. And I did some cross-stitch on a quilt label.
TINA - incompetantcy (is that a word?) runs rampant through office staff and I think the medical field is the worst. You HAVE to be your own advocate. Call them every single day. If that doesn't work insist on talking to the doctor directly. The doc really has no idea what the office staff is doing - or not doing, in your case. Sad about Frankie's aunt. All you can do is visit her, do thoughtful things for her, (cards, treats, give her a pedicure, back rub, ask her about family history if her mind is still there, etc.) I didn't realize that these adult family homes are the up and coming thing - at least in our area. Trained staff are there 24/7, but it's truly like living in a loving home. Though, you have to be sure to get a good one. Like anything else, there are some bad ones out there!
JANA - I hope when things fall out of your freezer, they don't hit your foot!
Tonite we are going out to supper with two other couples. One couple both turned 90 this summer. The other couple are youngsters of 81 and 87. We get together 2 or 3 times a year and catch up. So I have no idea what we'll be eating. We're going to a restaurant Bill & I haven't been to before.
What's the story on your supper?

Good morning!
I called the Dr's office, no answer which doesn't really surprise me, it took me days and hours to get them last time, apparently they don't answer the phone until they get their Facebook and whatever else done....this came from a friend of mine that is seeing the Dr. It totally drives the Dr bonkers! He didn't hire and apparently can't fire his office staff, it's in a building where another Dr owns it all and that Dr is the one that says who does or does not work there. Crazy!
Oh Mary I feel so bad for uncle Ernie, they just have to give the poor guy some kind of antibiotic! That just seems inhumane to me.
I agree your fidget quilt wouldn't do any good unless he is up to actually fidgeting! I hope he gets to fidget!
Frankie brought my embroidery machine to the dining room table last night so I'm going to pick what I hope aunt Jody would like. The sad part with her is yes she's a little forgetful but walks ok, just needs to use a walker, she uses the bathroom on her own, just needs supervision mostly and someone to cook and clean for her.....we don't think she should've been taken out of her home that she was born in 92 years ago and never left. I guess me and Frankie just have a different opinion of when people need to be in assisted living plus when everyone is well off financially that in home care would cost the same, it's not like she's bedridden or a danger to herself or others or wonders off or anything like that.....she just needs a little extra help. I could for sure see if any of that was the case then yes she would need to be put in a place to take care of her for sure.
Our temps are dropping at night, love it! We're still 90 or more in the daytime though. Next month I want to take a drive and see the colors changing, I love that!
Dad's coming for supper tonight so I think I'm just gonna cook Schwan's Chinese; chicken and rice.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed. Sept 18th
Good afternoon from another purrrfect Fall day, complete with sun and warm temps...I'm just hoping, in a couple of weeks, we have a day like this so we can take a ride up in the mountains and be "Leaf peepers"....My most favorite thing to do in the fall was for Jim and I to drive up to Seven Springs ( a resort in the mountains), take a walk and then have lunch, sitting by the window... After a few times, he learned to take his book with him because on the drive back, there were quite a few craft shops...Do miss those days...
Mary, So glad to hear Uncle Ernie is being moved and just maybe, being around new people in this house might be the key...Oh my, you nasty neighbors, stirring up trouble with Vicki, lol..Hopefully, something is in the works and will be done...
You youngsters enjoy your dinner......
Tina, your doctor's office sounds exactly like our last doctor and his staff...We started with the doc when he set up his practice, 40 years ago but in the last couple of years, he went with another insurance and all his old staff quit and was replaced with people who had no idea what was happening...We needed a form signed when Jim was being admitted to the Memory Care Home and it took forever just because they hadn't given it to him and then claimed they hadn't gotten it...But, that did it for us and I went elsewhere..It was sad because after all those years, I felt we were also friends and when we left, I didn't even get a phone call or a note from him asking why....Oh well, enough of that....You my dear, keep at it! Maybe you could just go and sit in the office and demand some action or cause a stir...You know, we do have bail money set aside.....
With all you do and then to worry about the aunt, just not right...But, I'm sure your visits mean the world to her.....
Did a lot outside yesterday and I'm going to hopefully finish this afternoon...I spent the morning making the curtains for my bedroom, now I have to figure out a pattern for my quilt...I should get Ethan to help with that...He'll have another done before I get started on this one, lol....
Not much happening in the neighborhood, nice and quiet (until I start the weed whacker)....
As for dinner, today is another "must go" day so whatever is edible in the fridge...If nothing, there's always cereal....
You all have a great rest of the day....
Happy eating...................
