SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Sept 6

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Sep 06, 2019 6:36 am

Good morning!

My itchy dog woke me early this morning at 4:30. I made him a beauty appt for Oct 11th (after camping on the beach!) but I forgot to make a vet appt about his itchy skin and a teeth cleaning. Poor guy. We went back to his usual food and that helped a lot but he's still scratching more than he should. I'm pretty certain he doesn't have fleas. If he does, then we're wasting a lot of money on his flea meds!

I got all the laundry done yesterday and then Bill brought 2 loads home from Ernie's - mostly towels that were laying around the bathroom. Sigh. I also got a few more sections of my giant recipe box culled. I'm giving my rejects to my walking buddy, Lori. She loves looking through recipes.

Today - hmmmm.... No real plan yet but will probably purge a few more recipes, clean my sewing room, do the kitchen floor, go to chiropractor, drop off a couple boxes of donations for the thrift shop, and maybe read a little out on the deck. A hodge podge of small activities.

MARY ROSE - I buy canned chilies when I need to. Better than no chilies! Our stores here often have fresh Hatch chilies in the produce section when in season. I just buy a few pounds at a time. One store sells them by the big box. But they ain't cheap!

CHICKIE - what a fun festival you attended! Nice that the younger generation went with you. They have a fun energy. So sad about the boy who died in the heat. I don't know why they insist on such physical activity in such extreme heat. You will have that baby cow quilt wrapped up in no time. Then what?? I gave Autumn my little travel Janome last winter after I bought my new Bernie. So now she has TWO machines and STILL doesn't sew! lol! To be fair, she truly has no time, but even if she did, she probably wouldn't. What is happening when you lose your post? You already know to double check after you hit SUBMIT to make sure it posted, right? Sometimes, my finger will hit either some key I didn't intend or two keys at once and the post I'm working on goes POOF. If I hit ctrl and Z it will bring it back. Try it next time.

BECCA - Have you had any effects of Dorian where you live? I hope all your family is OK. You had a busy morning yesterday and still planned to do floors! What a woman you are! You wear me out! I wish we had a lighter weight vacuum. My back doesn't even like the Swiffer, let alone the 30# vacuum. Bill is supposed to be in charge of vacuuming because he insisted we buy that vacuum (against my objections!), but you can probably guess how that goes. Did the little ones visit yesterday or are they coming today? They sound like sweeties!

IRISH - I actually have been to PA three times. Bill was was sent to a conference in Philadelphia once, so we did all the Philly stuff we had time for - Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin's grave, Independence Hall, and more. In 1997 we drove across the state and into NY on a genealogy quest. It was a fast trip. My dad's family are all in PA and NY. Only my Grandpa moved west.
In 2002 we drove through in our "Big Retirement Trip" with our then new fifth-wheel. I must have missed the mountains, but we did see Lake Erie and met some folks at a rest stop who turned out to live across the road from us! lol! Never saw them again- there or here! Is your sister's second knee surgery scheduled yet or is that still up in the air. You get to go to all her Dr. Hunk appts, don't you?

JANA - Funny, we're doing the same thing here! I have my grandparents' trunk filled with journals, corrrespondence, pictures, and mementoes. Everything is between 80-150 yrs old. I have 3 kids and 15 nieces and nephews, and it's time to pass this trunk down. And the right place for it to go is to my niece, Carmen (Albert's DD). She's excited to get it all, my brother is excited, and I'm most excited! One more BIG thing out of my house! The only one who will be bummed is Scottie. He sleeps on top of that trunk at the foot of our bed. He loves that trunk. Poor Scottie. I told my brother maybe Scottie needs to go with his trunk! OH - and did you say there's peanut butter cookies?? . . . . I bet they are good. I really like peanut butter cookies. Tied with snickerdoodles for my second favorite, really . . . yummm... Wish I were there, standing next to your cookie jar - and you were looking the other direction . . .

I know I promised you we were eating leftovers last night, but I got corn on the cob at the store yesterday so we had chicken burgers and corn instead. So tonite I'm going to resurrect the ham/potato dish and make a big salad. I still haven't made my chili relleno casserole but it's on my radar now that I've found my recipe! This weekend . . .

What's going to fill your plate tonite?

Good morning! We are still hot and sticky, although yesterday didn’t seem as awful as the humidity was down by 10 points. Add that to the fact that I didn’t have to mow, and I didn’t walk Ava but drove by and walked her on my way to town… I didn’t get as hot as the day before.

The Hooligans persuaded me to walk last evening, and we ran into Ava and her peeps. I found out the baby shower is in October! It’s kind of early, but she will be down from Michigan then. I’ll have my quilt ready! I want to do some matching burp cloths, then we will see what else I get made. I’m crocheting a little afghan in the only pattern I know. The yarn selection was lousy, but I found some baby colors variegated that I’m using. It definitely does not match the quilt, but it’s neutral.

Oh, Mary! Then what!!! LOL! I have so many projects. I have some more fabric for a baby quilt, and I may do another one to go to Michigan if they have a shower up there. There are other projects waiting… cats that I embroidered that my DD has staked her claim to, birds (ditto on claim), a wall hanging my SIL wants, Christmas projects… Aaaaak! I need a couple of clones!

Dinner tonight—I brought home Chinese carryout last night, so we have leftovers.

Bon appétit!

Hello everyone,hot here & sunny.

Maryz Tallulah was too tired so they will come next week.DGD said she isn’t adjusting to School good.Shes in Kindergarten. It is a long day for them.
Was glad after we heard our DGS is coming.
Wow Scottie is an early riser.Itching isn’t good company.
No storm damage here but on the coast some areas were hit bad.Tornados in some areas.

Chickie You stay on the run.I wish my Crochet was good enough to do a blanket.I have to knit instead.
Sounds like they are keeping you busy with baby quilts.

I have some spaghetti left so it may be that or fresh veggies. Becca

Good afternoon from another very pleasant day in Sw. Pa...Sunny, slight breeze and in the high 70s....Gorgeous day to be outside but where am I????

Mary, you always have something planned whether it's quilting, shopping for a tub or reading...Your days are always full...Do you think poor fur baby has an allergy? Baby Girl has seasonal allergies and thank goodness, so far this season, she's been pretty good...Our very favorite Vet, Dr. Steve, retired and now we have mixed feelings about seeing one of the others...I just loved Dr. Steve, so gentle and loving with all the fur kids...
My sister is still thinking about the 2nd knee..She was so "gung ho" about having them both done at the same time (which would have been terrible) but with her being allergic to all the pain meds, she's "thinking about it" with the 2nd...It's quite a bit different when they do a complete knee, she's finding out, lol...AND of course I "have" to go along when she has her appointments...Although it's mostly the assistant who sees her, there's always that chance we might run into Dr. Hunk...Maybe I've mentioned, but Dr. Hunk is in a "beer club" with Kevin and has been to his house...As young as this guy looks, Kevin said his wife looks like she's 12....
Really had a chuckle when you said, Pa. has mountains??? Most of the people in Pa. have 1 leg shorter than the other because of the walking on our mountains...And, "Mountain goats" should be our state animal...But, we do have some really gorgeous mountains and in about 3 weeks or so, our state will be a show case from all the leaves...I highly recommend a camping trip to Cook Forest or surrounding areas...No beach but there is the Clarion River (which was noted on the recent sheet of stamps)....Come on over, I can be your guide! Promise not to get you lost, maybe miss placed a little but never lost....

Chickie, sounds like you're as busy as ever..But, isn't it nice to make baby quilts and afghans? My favorite thing to do...I did have a dream the other night that one of our DGDs was having twin boys..She has a 10 year old boy, divorced and didn't think my dream was too funny...

Becca, thinking about you and as Mary said, you're quite a woman....You're another one, always on the go....Hope you don't have any left overs from the storm....

Yesterday was bingo day so I loaded up my sister and off we went.. Lucky day for me, but not for her..But, she got out and then later we went to Fridays for dinner...It was a full day and a fun one.....

Today, as I said, is absolutely gorgeous and so far, I'm inside...Did put clothes in the washer, then went upstairs to just make the bed...Well, along with the bed, I then started pulling summer stuff out of the drawers and closets and 2 hours later finally came down to take care of the wash...I had planned to be outside, trying to take care of the endless weeds and maybe get rid of my tomato plants..This was no a good year for my tomatoes and it really bothers me to have to buy.....

Not sure what dinner might be, maybe a big salad.....

You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating..................

Good morning!

Oh my house smells yummy, just took out 3 loaves of fresh homemade whole wheat bread. All I can do, not to hack off a slice and slather it in butter!

Not much going on here. Raining, cloudy and muggy. May even get a stray thunderstorm later. Heading down to the Batt Cave. Dinner, hopefuly will be leftover chili. May need to make a bit of rice to stretch it, if Michael gets into it sooner.

Ethan gets out early today, so we will work on the borders of his quilt.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good evening everyone. Dinner tonight is one of the unmentionables, S_____ with rice.

I need to check on Tina as well. It's been a while since I talked to her.
