SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, May 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu May 02, 2019 4:08 am

Good morning!

Busy days here. Our friends returned but the part needed for their motorhome is coming from Portland (150 mi south of here) and a worker neglected to put it on the delivery truck. So their MH is still at repair place. They slept in our trailer last night. Hoping today is the day for them. They were here 5 nights, gone for 2 nights, back for another 5 nights, then up to Victoria, B.c. for 2 nights, then back here again for a few more nights until they leave for Alaska. They are easy guests, try to pull their weight, friendly, and do their own thing mostly during the day. We enjoy them. But it's still a lot of company time, a lot of dishwasher loads, a lot of vacuuming. I just can't be clean this long! lol!! And they know that now.

JANA - Please give your Aaron a special thank you from me, the crazy cat lady, for his latest rescue! I hope is keeping some sort of journal of his adventures. It would make a good book some day! If for training for future guys if nothing else! On Live PD not to long ago we saw a trooper rescue a kitten who was on top of the jersey barrier in the middle of a freeway. The kitty got to ride in his cruiser, visit the station, and eventually go home with the trooper. They showed a photo of him sitting in his recliner at home, kitty perched on his chest. Both were purring!

CHICKIE - what's a water turkey? Your Hooligans are a hoot! And I can say that from a warm and dry house 2,000 miles away! Did you get any time in your sewn room yesterday?

IRISH - stop!! you're making my back hurt with talk of painting! Especially the ceiling! Your little Lena is such a sweetie! Love her hair! Can't believe how your boys are growing up! Where is the house that Stephen and his wife bought?

BECCA - you and your DH had a really busy day! How is his blood pressure? Almost sounded like it was pretty low in the dr's office. I hope keeping track of his blood sugars will help keep him more alert and upright.

LORI - good move on the hall closet! I have a hall closet, too, that I keep shutting the door on. Maybe after our company leaves, I'll get to it. Maybe not. ;o)

I didn't make the pizza yesterday. I found a simple recipe for minestrone soup and put that into the crockpot instead. And it turned out pretty good, if a little thick for a brothy soup. so I called it minestrone stew. lol! Tonite comes the pizza unless Rick & Dot come up with other plans.

Have you come up with your plans yet?

Good morning! We may have more rain today. It’s overcast and sprinkled earlier. I have to get out and go to a routine doctor’s appointment—just annual checkup and get my bone density Rx. I was in yesterday and sat with Mom while sis and BIL went to lunch. When they returned, sis and I did Mom’s bath. It’s quite an ordeal. Today I will stop by after doc appointment, and we will change out Mom’s bed sheets and add a new mattress pad.

Irish—Your little Irish princess sounds like a doll! My life is wet dogs and muddy floors, or so it seems. I’m still having fun! I need to get back out in my dirt, too. I couldn’t get any bedding plants, and I really want some begonias. I’m hoping someone will get some in town.

Lori—I always have a wet, muddy dog. Tinker Bell doesn’t let a pond, lake, slough, creek, or puddle go by without a dip! Since we have a pond right out our back door… The doggie door gets shut until she dries off some days. Our wisteria and fruit trees have dropped their blossoms. Now I’m waiting for the peonies. My coral bells are beginning to bloom.

Becca—that blood sugar is a crazy thing. DH has to watch his. He was on a med that sent him way too low and had to stop it. Hope you get CA’s adjusted. One time DH and I went and put vehicles in a barn a quarter of a mile away. We got caught in hail as we were running back home in the downpour.

Jana—Aaron sure never has a dull moment! Glad he saved the kitten!

Mary—a water turkey is a rouge “duck” that dives and eats fish—lots of fish. They are a nuisance in Texas and will strip a pond of fish. Thankfully we don’t see them here often. I’m sure they have other “proper” names. No sewing room time. None today, either. You are sure busy with your company—glad they are “good” ones!!!

DH is back from coffee. Need to make brunch. Dinner tonight will be more of my crockpot chicken tortilla soup that I made yesterday before I went to town.

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Down here in the Batt Cave getting the binding made and sewn on. I can work on sewing the binding down at class tonight. there are only a couple more classes , then summer break.

Today is Aaron's day off, so no never a dull moment stories. Stu is making slow progress on the swing set. there are many pieces and he did as much as he could before it got to dark last night. Sarah said that He** has frozen over - Stu was reading the directions and marking off each step as he did it! I just smiled, I can see that if you leave the young man alone and not micro manage, he does quite well. Michael is keeping check on him, so it does get done right.

Dinner - out - the car knows the way after class. It is getting nice enough and light outside, that we may stay out to eat and watch trains.

Mary - sounds like your guests have much of their time planned out - good for you, gives you time to sew!

Chickie - your Hooligans sound just like any boy - if there is water near by, they will find it!

Becca - While Daniel is here, all my girls and some of the boys will pitch in and cook, to help me out. They have already planned and assigned out some of the dinners for next week. It won't be too bad, as my grands here are still n school, so that cuts the time they are out during the week nights.

Well, better get busy,

Enjoy!

Here is what I found on Wikipedia. There are pictures, too, and the one that came the other day looked just like the pics:

The anhinga (/ænˈhɪŋɡə/; Anhinga anhinga), sometimes called snakebird, darter, American darter, or water turkey, is a water bird of the warmer parts of the Americas. The word anhinga comes from the Brazilian Tupi language and means devil bird or snake bird.

They are not pretty birds like the Canadian geese, mallards or wood ducks... or any duck, for that matter. Even the blue herons that walk around the edges of the ponds snagging fish are beautiful.

Chickie, I lock out muddy dogs as well. I have the smudged sliding glass doors as proof. lol Seems like I'm constantly cleaning windows because of the furry ones.

Maryz, minestrone sounds good. I'll have to find a good recipe. I make kidney beans about every two weeks, so I always have those on hand.

Jana, I got out of Utah at the right time. My DS and his wife got home from Hawaii on Monday, and it snowed Tuesday and Wednesday. Glad I missed it. The weather was perfect when I was there.

Don't have any plans for dinner yet. I'm heading out the Trader Joe's, so I'll find something there. Maybe I have pizza with you Maryz. They have ready made pizza dough, and I have everything else. Easy.

Have a lovely day. Lori
