SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, March 14

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Mar 14, 2019 4:16 am

Good morning!

Today is my nephew's birthday. I need to remember to send him a message. He works for Boeing. He's the one who discovered the electrical problem that grounded the 787 Dreamliner for so long about 6 years ago. I wonder what he's done now. All the new 737 Max planes are grounded and they were built in his plant.

This nephew also has chickens. They live in an urban culdesac but love their chickens and give them the run of the back yard. We get eggs every now and then.

TINA - sounds like maybe you should be going to your dad's to eat instead of vice versa! lol!! and I have to ask - what is hill billy food? We saw your weather on our news. glad you got rain to wash away the dust, at least! We even saw the tornado.

CHICKIE - I know you had a LOOOONG day at mom's. Was yesterday your BIL's surgery? did your truck start OK?

BECCA - haha! 'clean like Mary Z's'! I have to confess, this kind of cleaning bug hits me only about once a year, and it usually doesn't last for the entire house. This year, though, it has to because upstairs is as clean as it ever gets. Still has that lived in look though! and we are going to recarpet the entire downstairs sometime this spring, so it will have to be cleaned at some point then. I'm not rushing.

JANA - Well, what color dining set did you want and what color do you think you got. and what style? Maybe you should just give us a photo. And BABY CATS!!! You lucky!!! I think God wants you to have a pair of brand new cats! He's obviously going to keep sending them until you take them, Jana, so you may as well cave now.

LORI - So nice to have you join us at the table! and bring Jack and Wrigley along, too. I love a good dog(s) under the table to rest my feet on. However, we have Scottie instead.

IRISH - How are you doing? Please tell me you are off on a romp somewhere and not still sick. Don't make me have to come back there!

Company's coming tonite for a big chili feed. We will be 9. I'm going to make red chili and white chili as well as lots of cornbread. TINA, I'll be using your Hatch chilies direct from your freezer! One couple is bringing a dessert, but I'll also have a french apple pie on hand. Another couple is bringing a salad and some pork that is supposed to be good with chili, she says. Another couple is bringing a "meat tray", which means venison salami as an appetizer. That's what they always provide.

So supper is a solid plan for tonite, and probably for a few more nights to come. There's plenty! Y'all are welcome to stop by!

Good morning!

Happy "Pi" Day!

I think I will make a couple of small individual little pies to celebrate. Ethan will be here tonight for dinner and he will love his very own pie. I have several small pie pans, single serving size. Also something with potatoes and gravy, his favorite.

We got more snow overnight. What fell yesterday morning, had disappeared by the afternoon, so today we started all over.

My new table is from RC Willey. Called Linen and Elm, 7 piece dining set, Brookhaven. It is supposed to be a antique white chairs, and legs on the table. With the top a dark brown. So it is two toned. But in the store, the antique white had a gray cast, instead of a browner cast in the lights. I want the browner tones, but the grayer may look OK as well. I fussed like this when I picked out all the colors and finishes in the house before it was built, wondering if I did the right ones. Then we we got here, I did get it right, so this may be another case like that. The light in the picture of the set online is very similar to my new dining room light, mine is all wood, not metal, but the similar round ball shape. My boys all refer to the light as the Death Star, from Star Wars. Silly boys! I first saw the light while watching Fixer Upper with Joanna Gaines.

Well, better scoot

Enjoy!
Jana

Good morning :)
Mary, sounds like you've been busy and what a fun evening coming up! Hillbilly food is probably what most call comfort food, lots of gravy with stuff, my favorite is biscuits and gravy. He also does collard greens, grits, gizzards, chicken livers, regular liver, pork jaws, beans, cornbread....things like that. He also uses a lot of lard now, Mom always used Crisco and he did too but now that she's not there to keep him in the healthier things he's cooking like Grandma always did. I love most of it! There are a few things I won't eat. LOL
Jana, I bet your table will go beautifully in your house, it sounds beautiful! We need to go hunting for a new table soon, ours is kinda worn out....it's only about 32 years old. Frankie said we'll never find another that'll last like this one, probably not....and it was from a cheap furniture store and wasn't very expensive.
I've got to look in my freezer and see what I have to make for supper tonight. Hopefully it'll be nice enough for Dad to come for supper.
Saturday we're supposed to get a snow squall.

Tina -

The table we are replacing is solid oak, in the neighborhood of 40 years old. I have refinished it twice and all the chairs from the original set have been replaced as well. We did get our money worth from it!

Good morning ladies.

Jana, You're table sound really pretty.

Tina, our table is 22 years old. It's cherry wood and will last a long time. Sounds like lots of comfort food for you tonight.

Maryz, sounds like you have some serious meat eaters coming tonight. Have fun.

I think I will make BBQ chicken, sliced potatoes with onion, and a fresh veggie of some kind. I'll be going by a strawberry stand today to get some fresh from the field berries, and they always have veggies as well.

Have a wonderful day ladies. Lori

Good morning from sunny, warm, almost summer like, SW. Pa...Well, it is to get to low 70s today and that's almost summer like, right???

Calling Nurse Mary, patient in need of some TLC! No, I'm not still sick but if that's what it would take to get you on this side of the country, then I'll go for it, lol...BUT, I have it all figured out, with your DD moving this way, you really need to travel right through my neck of the woods to get to DC...Even if you fly, we have an airport, yep we do! And even flying into Delaware or DC, that's not far from Cari or Jackie's....See got it all figured out, we're going to be getting together!
As far as being sick, the nagging cough is still with me and I'm still tired but also decided, I can bring the tiredness on at any given time, lol....I am to go for blood work but there again, I'm too tired, lol....Even with you cleaning up a storm didn't get me in the mood, well maybe a little...I am off to Home Depot to buy some paint and get myself a miter box and saw...Few projects in the wind.....

Jana, your new dining room set sounds gorgeous...I love, love to hear about new furniture and how everyone decorates....I'm waiting for that furniture fairy to come and wave her magic wand (I do need help)......When I read your posts about Ethan, it brings back good memories about Nick...I loved having him here and being able to make his favorite things...Darn, I hate when these kids grow up!
I also go along with Mary. God really does want you to have a couple of those fur babies...Might as well just give in and start naming them.....I'm sure Ethan would love it.....

Well, today, my sister is picking me up and we're off to a big craft store that is in the process of closing or being bought out by Michael's...I'm after yarn and sashing for my embroidered squares....Not sure if we'll be to eat, she has a funeral home to visit later today...It's getting scary to look at the Obits any more.....

As for dinner, up in the air...But, I did buy some Stouffers stuffed peppers the other day so, might pop one in the oven....

You all have a great day......

Happy eating.............

Eagle Update:...Won't be long now until we have that 1st PIP in our nest...It is so neat to watch Momma and Dad eagle take turns on keeping the eggs warm...Momma always has the over night shift and most mornings, when Dad comes, she's not ready to give up her perch...He nudges, pushes, nudges some more and finally she'll move but won't stay away for very long...And it's getting now, they should be able to hear the eaglet making noises inside the shell..Every once in awhile, the adult will turn it's head and listen...

And in the Florida nest, both babies have fledged...1st one was about 3 days ago and then that night, an owl knocked E13 off the nest but he was able to recover and make it back and then yesterday, he made his short flight....The parents will continue to bring food and then as the little ones do more flying, the parents will cut down on the food and teach them how to hunt....Like our own kids, I hate to see them grow up and leave the nest.......
