SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Feb 20th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Feb 20, 2019 4:24 am

Good morning!

My dental appt was the best ever! My tooth/root are merely inflamed just a little bit. Probably from the sciatica that got so bad in Nov & Dec - clenching and grinding and tensing as we rode so many miles. It's already improving. Doc said go home, relax, and enjoy a glass of wine. Doctor's orders I can easily follow!

Enough snow melt has happened now that a 16" square wooden planter has shown up in our yard out near our woodshed. It's Vicki's, of course. My thought is now I have a new planter for spring! After 3 years of carefully gathering up all the things she puts in our yard and returning them to her, I decided from now on I'm either keeping things or putting them into the garbage. Yesterday she was at the end of her long driveway, shoveling snow out into the road. Cars were swerving to miss her or avoid being hit by the flying snow. No one uses her driveway except her kids on Sunday mornings and it was clear enough for them last Sunday.

Today is going to be some uglies, two loads of wash, and pulling out another set of swap blocks from the UFO box. I have five sets left to go. But another two will be arriving next month - the bow ties. So I need to get a wiggle on!

We found out what Scottie was so 'barky' about the other night at midnight - a deer. He/she left evidence as well as hoof prints. Nice to know that after all the land-clearing and house building going on around us in the last 3 years, we still have a little wildlife left.

Chickie texted me last night and said her mom was sick. Was in the ER for dehydration due to nausea. But she was discharged to home after 2 bags of IV fluids and Chickie and her sister are taking turns spending the nights with her. I told her I'd let y'all know why she wasn't here.

ROSEBUD - I would think if there were any anomalies in your EKG they wouldn't wait a month to address them, so I'm guessing you passed with flying colors! I love fried potatoes under chili!

BECCA - I hope your DS waits until the roads are good before he makes his big move. Moving is hard enough without slippin' and slidin' on the roads!

JANA - thanks for your comments on my bears. I love Hartman's designs. I ordered Penguin Party from QIAD last week - 30% off and free shipping. They were too cute to pass up. Yes, we've often commented that we think the WSDOT engineers are designing their own job security. Though I think the guy that planned part of the mammoth construction of a new overpass on I-5 and then the two ends didn't meet should have lost his job. Cost us $1,000,000 to fix that mistake. Workers told him but he wouldn't listen. And he did it TWICE!!!

we still have a little pozole left but I think that will be lunch. Chicken, baked sweet potatoes, and salad sound good to me for tonite. Unless Bill thinks he wants a big pot of chili. Or maybe he'd like black beans over rice . . . I'll ask his opinion when he gets home from the "Y". (he goes every M/W/F).

What's bubbling in your pot for tonite?

Mary Those Little bears are so cute.Of course I love Anything with bears especially a baby quilt.

Chickie Prayers for your Mom.Its amazing she is so healthy.

We have some beans & rice so I plan to make a pot of soup,CA still has donuts.DS bought him a box when he come.Everyone looks after him. Becca

Good morning!

Well, at least as I am starting this!

This morning was quite cold and as Ethan went to school, he was trying to figure out why it was snowing with no clouds. It was quite sunny too. Well, it is a phenomen that the dew point and air temps were the same and caused the moisture in the air to freeze and look like it was snowing. Very cold, but very pretty. Sarah was teaching him that principle. Real snow is coming later today.

Still working on my blocks. Also did a couple loads of laundry, just to get back on schedule. I like to do my laundry on Mondays. All the uglies are caught up too.

Dinner, will have to cook. Finnally the ziti is gone. I think easy, salad and a shared ribeye. I need to spend a day making several batches of soups for the freezer, but need a few fresh things for that.

Mary - yeah for the good dentist report! Sarah is getting a RV a bit later this spring. Not as big as Matt's. I can't remember the brand, but the only slide in it, is the bed - it skides out the back. In the front are bunk beds, of which, they can store their bikes and stuff with the bottom bunk folded up. Ethan wants yo sleep on the top bunk, so that works great. All the kids, Sandee, Matt, and Sarah are planning a family camp out the end May in Coalville, by Park City. We may go to, but spend the night at a hotel. My camping style!

Becca - rain is sooo much better than snow! Not cold!

Prayers foe Chickie and Mom!

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from a very wintery, snowy, cold, SW. Pa..BUT, before we know it, the snow will be gone, it's going to be near 60 in a day or so...I was getting worried about this latest storm because going to the airport is no easy trip but then to add snow, Kathy might have been left on the curb thumbing...But, have until Sat. for the roads to be clear.....

Mary, What a worry about Vicki but there's really nothing you can do...Such a shame...I often wonder what might have happened had I still had Jim at home..He had started to wonder and I can only imagine...But, he's safe at home now....Glad you still do have some wildlife...Around here, they also are building and I feel so sorry for the deer...I don't like to see them eating my lilies but they are most welcome to visit any time...Even get a little laugh at watching the ground hogs until they get into the garden, lol....
Now you have me curious about the Penguin Party you've ordered, will have to check it out...Our Jackie is a penguin nut and being married at the Zoo, will be having one at her wedding in July....

Becca, I smiled when you said, everyone looks after CA, that's special...I have a feeling they all think you're pretty special also...I think we've had enough rain and messy stuff to last a few years...My sister lives on top of a hill and she's been saying, only house on the hill with water front property...Her whole front yard was flooded and 1 of the grand kids put a couple of those yellow ducks in it...But Spring is just around the corner, honest!

Chickie, certainly hoping and praying your Mom feels better real soon...What a blessing to have her and also what a blessing for her to have you and your sister....Many, many prayers and special thoughts.....

Jana, what are you up today??? Hope you're not snowed in...

Yesterday was a fun day...Of course I had the wrong time written down for my doctor's appointment but she "made room" and got me on my way...Wasn't too pleased with my BP numbers and wants it checked and of course fasting blood work, Yuck! But, I then picked up Cindy and my sister and we went to lunch, sat for 2 hours and then I came home...My neighbor Donna stopped up and we had a nice gab session so I really did have a good day....

Today, I started back on the cupboards in the back bedroom and I might have to rent a UHaul to get all this stuff up to GoodWill...But, what a good feeling and of course a better feeling to see empty drawers and clean cupboards...Now, I'm going to rearrange the bedroom and then tomorrow start on the other room...I was going to paint but might have to wait until I'm going to be home longer than a week.....

For dinner, still have 1 little piece of meatloaf and a tiny bit of soup so, "mustgos" for tonight.....
Last night when Donna came up, she brought 2 apple fritters so might have to have 1/2 of one for afters....

You all have a great day....

Happy eating...........

Eagle Update.....
I checked on our nest and all you could see was Momma's head and back and the rest was snow covered...But, with her feathers, she's well protected from the cold and she knows how to keep those eggs nice and warm...
When eagles are about to lay their eggs, both male and female develop what is called a "brood patch" on their chest..The feathers disappear and when the parents sit on the eggs, they can tell by that brood patch if the eggs are being kept warm enough...Also, the parents need to roll the eggs every hour or so to make sure the embryo doesn't stick to just one side of the shell...It's really something to see a parent curl up those deadly talons and gently roll the eggs....AND that is your lesson for the day....
