SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Feb 11
Good morning!
We had a beautiful day yesterday, Very cold but with sun glinting off the snow. Then about 3pm it started to snow again. By 8pm we had another 3" for a grand total of 12" at our house. I know many of you get this much and more every year, but this is the biggest snowfall in our neck of the woods in many decades. At Thanksgiving time in 1985 we had 8" and a week later 13". Before that, I think 1950 might have been the record to beat. So as you can imagine, we are at a standstill. And I'm loving it! BTW, a new tarp is already ordered. Bill said the tarp he cut up was ready to be replaced this summer anyway. So no real loss there.
In sewing news, I got two more tops quilts and binding on one of them. Only 3 of the 8 are left to do and they need Bill's computerized quilting so he's on deck - hopefully today he will get started on that. I will bind the one and start on more UFO's, putting blocks together. Or maybe start a baby quilt.
And one more little announcement - my son got the cover art for his book! It's pretty exciting for our family. Not sure of a publish date yet. He has Vol 2 half-written already. It's going to be a seasonal series - cozy murder mystery set in PNW Wilderness.
JANA - we've been in those parts of UTAH in July - with no A/C. Years ago when the kids were little. HOT!! Did our storm hit you yet? What are your snow totals now? You're welcome!
SHIRLEY MAE - I don't dis-like the desert. We spend time there almost every year. - I just don't want to live there! I need my trees! Besides, allergies I never knew I had seem to kick in as soon as we hit Arizona. But I LOVE the saguaro cacti. They have personalities.
BECCA - I saw you weren't feeling too well. I hope it's nothing too serious and you're over it quickly. Does your DGS feel cheated about not much snow? This entire storm system in so unusual in so many ways! And you are right - it IS very frustrating for Vicki's kids to try to care for her. She refuses any help they offer, she is belligerant to them, argumentative, stubborn, and gets agitated when they take her out every week. I'm sure they tried to take her to one of their homes for this week of bad weather, but I'm equally sure she refused. And legally, they can't force her. All of this is so out of Vicki's pre-Huntington's character. Plus, the kids all know they have a 50/50 chance of having the same disease. It's difficult for everyone.
IRISH - I don't like that kind of excitement! I hope they find the victim soon. Sad as it is to think someone would do such a thing, I'm hoping it might have been a hoax. Sorry your tummy didn't like your lunch.
As for supper - not sure what we'll be having. I have a little leftover stew that's more broth than anything. I'll have to find something to add to it, I think. But it will work. I'll call it soup. Bill will be happier with soup.
What's going to make your tummy happy tonite?

Good morning! We are above freezing! Of course, it’s drizzling, glomy and muddy. This has been a wet year and winter. We haven’t had as much snow as Mary even if you added last winter and this winter’s storms together! Your pictures are beautiful! Of course, we don’t have trees like that to make picture post card views.
Today I’m out to take care of Choc for the next 48 hours and Ava at noon times. I didn’t step foot out of the house yesterday other than the porch for bird feeding. It’s supposed to rain/drizzle all day, but it will be good to get outside. I may have to think about braving the mud with my walking stick if it’s warm enough to walk in the rain.
Yesterday I finished quilting the placemats and table runners. Today I’ll measure and cut bindings and bind. Hope to finish! DGDIL will be so surprised to have a set for herself and her mom. She thinks she is just getting a runner only for her mom. I love surprises!!!
MaryZ—so glad the tarp was to be replaced! You are so fast with your quilting!!! Congratulations to your DS!!! We do enjoy those cozy mysteries!!!
Becca—hope you are feeling better! And, hope you didn’t get ice! Finally, ours is gone this morning. I am a hermit!!! This has really been unusual to have so much ice here.
Shirley Mae—glad I’m not at the north end of Kansas! This has been too much here as far as I’m concerned!
Irish—sure hope it was a hoax. That’s just too sad!!! I’m hoping you are feeling better! It’s so frustrating to try to figure out what’s causing the upset.
Jana—seems like you were just changing boundaries not too long ago. Must be because of growth in your area. I love how everyone watches out for each other in your neighborhood!
Dinner tonight… not sure. TBD.
DH is home, gotta make brunch! Bon appétit!

I'm thinking about putting on a pot of beans, haven't decided for sure. I do need to decide soon though as the water company is suppose to come out to check for water leaks sometime today between 8 and 5. They will be turning off the water to see if there is a leak at the meter.
Now I'm off to see if I can get anything done today.

Good morning!
Well, during the white out blizzard on the Point of the mountain area of I-15, Aaron was called in for duty last night. He was pulling fully loaded semis out of drifts and pushing cars that were stuck out of the way, so the plows could clear the lanes of the freeway. In that area, there are six lanes each way. Aaron even got to drive the wrong way on the freeway. Of course, it was closed! Thank goodness
Today he said it is much quieter. If you have ever seen thecshow on the Weather channel, Highway ftom Hell, that is what Aaron was doing last night.
Our big church meeting went well. The boundary division between a set of Wards, is my backyard. That boundary separates Sarah's Ward and mine. I lost due to the change, my 4 organists and chorister - which panicked me for a short time. But in the changes, I call the trade, I did get 2 new organists and a choir director! Whew! Sunday I will be the chorister and give the Bishop time to make the callings. Callings are are place to serve in the Ward. Sarah is in a whole brand new Ward, so it takes time to get everyone in place to teach, lead and fo everything that keeps a Ward running. Everyone here serves as a lay person, no pay or full time leaders.
Dinner - humm , another big dinner salad. Sarah stoped by this morning with fresh sourdough bread. We share a loaf so it doesn't go stale. I have lost another 4 pounds and the next sub goal is coming into sight. Hopefully soon I will have lost one whole person and start on the second person to get rid of!
Time for uglies and then seeing the Batt Cave!
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from dreary, wintery, SW. Pa...But, it is starting to warm up, the snow, THANKS TO MARY, is starting to melt and then it will probably rain....How many days until Spring????
Mary, I know you're excited about your snow and it's very, very pretty, BUT, we don't want any more...Thank goodness the tarp was ready to be replaced...With the new one, you'll be set for another 25 or so years...What a sad situation with Vicki and her family...It's just so hard to imagine what might be going on in her mind...And congrats to your DS, that's quite an accomplishment.. Will be anxious to hear when it's published...Maybe it will be made into a TV series...That really is exciting....
Jana, I've seen that show on the Weather channel and can only watch a little of it, I get too nervous...And now, to know someone who actually does that, oh my! Sounds like big changes in your Ward...How many people make up a Ward? It all sounds so interesting...
AND, how can someone who does so much cooking and baking continue to loose weight????? And is your hip feeling better with the loss? You really have to be commended.....
Becca, sorry to hear you're not feeling up to par...Rest, rest, rest and drink lots of liquid....Feel better soon....
Chickie, I think every time I look out the window and see the birds I think of you....I don't know the different kinds of birds, just the woodpecker...But, today, I saw a gray squirrel and the birds put the run on him....Just please be careful when you are out and about......
Haven't heard any more about the creek search but it had been called off last night...They have said, the fellow who reported it was really shook up so they are thinking it isn't a hoax...
I talked to Kathy last night and she was giving me her dates for when she'd be coming this way and when it would be good for me to go west...So, got on line, looked up some times and made a reservation for the end of March and into April...Told my sister to check those dates and decide if she wants to go..But, she told me, we need to think about going to Arizona, also...
On a sad note, my fur baby, Kelly, isn't feeling very good...She is 14, doesn't want to eat and hasn't been using the litter like she should...This fur baby had been born feral, only been to the vets to be spayed and I have a feeling the vet will say it's time but putting her in a carrier is almost impossible...I just don't want to put her through that trauma, but if she starts showing pain, then we'll go....Life sometimes comes with heartaches.....
Not really thinking of dinner....Did make a casserole of bread pudding, filled with raisins so, that might be it...Yesterday, I made jello and that really tasted good...When I make jello I mix a container of yogurt with it and it is so good.....
You all have a good rest of the day.......
Happy eating.............
