SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Jan 29
Good morning,
We are home finally! Such a relief. I liken traveling I-5 in with the semi's to running with the bulls in Spain! I'm a clutcher and a gasper when they seem to get too close to us. Bill has learned to ignore me. Vicki saw us arrive home, of course. About a month ago, she had placed 3 chairs in a row just on our side of the property line, facing our RV shelter. Our friends, Tex & Annette, had stored their trailer in our shelter while we were gone and they had to move the chairs back to her side to get their trailer out on Sunday. (they timed it so Vicki would be at breakfast with her kids). Good thing they moved the chairs because Vicki came out, sat down in one, crossed her arms and legs and glared at us as we parked our rig. She wouldn't move. Bill did a good job and didn't need to run over her while jockeying the truck & trailer, but sometimes the backing and parking doesn't always go so well. She sat and glared for a half-hour after we were done, and watched us carry in things. Then she moved to OUR front yard and kind of patrolled it, arms crossed, glaring at us in the house.
I got a lot carried in and put away, but there will be more today. I have more than a mountain of laundry to get started on. Then the cleaning starts. And the house is pretty dusty, too, after 3 months. And the yard! Not only is all the fall debris everywhere, but there is a lot of winter blow down as well - limbs and branches are everywhere. There were a few windstorms while we were gone. And I see my daffodils are up, poking their heads through the layer of leaves.
TINA - glad the treatments are working for you but I sure wish you could get them as often as you need them. I can't imagine having to water your yard. lol! We have ducks swimming on our back lawn! And yes, Dawn is a great de-greaser. It's recommended for cross-stitch projects if they need to be cleaned before framing. Also, it's used to wash birds and other wildlife caught in oil spills. and of course, laundry.
CHICKIE - See - being a nice person has its rewards - you get asked to do more and more! lol! I do all my bindings by machine. Such a time saver, especially in a project like the one you are doing. When your pond freezes do you have to chop through the ice so the cattle can get to the water?
BECCA - it's great that you have such a varied interest in books. I read biographies of people I want to know more about, but mostly I'm a mystery fan. My tastes would be termed 'cozy', I think.
JANA - Will all the added responsibilities in Sarah's job take a lot more time now? And how is your bathroom remodel coming along? Or did it get stalled when Micheal took on the big RR project?
I don't know about supper tonite yet. I'm not sure if Bill will be wanting to grill (he's the griller). He might be tired. We have burgers and chicken, sweet potatoes and onions. But we also have Bear Creek soup mixes - as well as some frozen chicken noodle soup. Plus I could make tacos. He will have an opinion as we get closer to supper time.
what are the options in your kitchen?

Here is a photo Irish sent me this morning. Good thing we still have the bail fund intact! We may be needing to tap it! Bellied up to the bar, L to R are their friend, Linda, Cindy who I believe is Irish’s niece, IRISH, and her sister, Joanne. Cheers!!

Good morning
Mary, glad your home and getting settled in again. I think your neighbor would drive me over the deep end. I'd be putting up a 6 foot tall fence between us for sure.
Irish, great picture, you all look amazing! And for sure having fun
bail money! LOL
We're cold and windy here, more of a soup day but I'm roasting chicken and veggies for supper.....these whole chickens take 2 days to thaw in my fridge so I planned this meal 2 days ago

Good morning!
What a delightful photo of Irish and her friends and family!!! It really makes my day thinking of friends, Florida, fun and sunshine!!! Everyone looks great!
We were 16 here when I scraped windows on DH’s car so I could go walk Choc. Brrrrr! I put my fleece jammie bottoms on over my yoga pants to keep warm along with my barn coat and knit hat with pompom on top. When I came back home and in the house, DH said I looked like one of those Wal-Mart shoppers that live in their fleece pajamas. It’s a good thing I just go down the road and no one sees me!!!
Mary—you asked about the pond situation. We are so very fortunate. We have a spring at the back of the pasture that doesn’t freeze, and it provides water for the cows in this weather. Otherwise… chopping ice would be required.
What a great reception you had when you arrived home! NOT! At least you had no damage caused by Mother Nature or human neighbor! I’m sure after those winds, you had a lot of blow down branches, etc. We always do here as well.
I ordered more camo fabric yesterday, and I’ll be excited to get started on this project. It seems like everything I make is DREAMi—Drop Everything And Make it. Someday I’ll DREAMi for me, but I like doing for others, so my projects are on hold. I received the stencils I ordered yesterday, and I will use them when I quilt my DD’s quilt. I’m hoping they will assist me in learning better free motion quilting.
Tina—I wish you could get all the treatments you need, too! I use Dawn for everything. I might say, cheap shampoo and an old toothbrush are great for shirt collar grime.
Becca—I pretty much read everything except Harlequin romances. They are so boring. I enjoy biographies and some memoirs of people I am interested in. I really enjoyed Barbara Bush’s book she wrote after the Presidency of GHWB. I like books by Doris Kerns Goodwin. Her biographies are always good, and I really enjoyed “Wait Till Next Year” a memoir of her time growing up with her dad and being fans of the Brooklyn Dodgers. My first copy burned, and I was delighted to find a copy at a thrift store to purchase and read it again. I grew up on the left coast, but I loved baseball and always wore a blue Dodgers baseball cap when I was a kid.
Well, DH has arrived, so time to get busy. Dinner tonight—soup for me (I just put on a full crock pot) and TBD for DH. We ate out last evening, so I must cook tonight.
Bon appétit!

Good morning!
Mary - for a m9ment as I looked at the photo of Irish and friends, I thought I saw you! Thank you for sharing. Irish is having a great time! As for Vicki, great job to Bill for his able manuvering around obstenite, oops, I mean obstacles! Be sure to check the yard before Scotty and Foxy do. Glad you are hone safe and sound!
Here we have the sickies. Started with Gracie and Lila. Now Ethan. Ethan was here on Sunday and he came down sick on Minday. Michael has a cold from before the kids, so I hope and pray, the flu bug skips us! Gracie and Lila are doing better.
My heart project is almost done. Just putting on several coats of a sealer to allow them to be outside in the weather. Michael says they look like candy boxes. Even commented that they looked good. He doesn't do that very often! I will finish the jute braid the hearts will hang from and have them ready to be hung outside on the first of February. Then a bit later I can start the shamrocks for March.
Dinner - humm - we will see what strikes our fancy, but tacos sound good.
Enjoy!
Jana

I'm back
Chickie, brrrrrrr that's too cold! I've used Dawn on collors when I was a kid and did all the laundry, Dad's collors always needed help.....I don't think I've ever had to really do anything extra with Frankie's clothes in about 30 years but this job is dirty and stinky.
I wish I could afford those treatments too but it would be almost $200 a week.
Becca, my mom used to get meds through Ben Archer Clinics, she could get her $800 a month med for under $20, most of her meds only cost her about $2 a month through them. Before she found them her meds were almost $2000 a month, thankfully that was only for a month and her Dr let her know about Ben Archer. Maybe you should see if they have something like that in your area.
Oops my time is up, boys are needing things.
